I have a rooted, Liberted HTC Aria. I can set the volume all the way down to vibrate via the rocker, place it on the table, call it from another phone, and the phone will ring.
When I re-check the volume level it is set to the quietest ring, not vibrate.
I have repeated this over and over as I though I was just accidentally hitting the rocker while it was holstered, but that's not the case.
I've tried downloading volume lock. I set the phone to vibrate and test volume lock to see if it works.
It does, I get a message to confirm new volume level, if i don't it stays on vibrate, as indicated by the vibrate icon.
Then you call the phone... The phone rings and the volume is now set to the quietest ring, not vibrate.
Any ideas, this is a huge inconvenience at work?
Thanks.
Don't know how old this thread is, but I will tell you, you are not going crazy.
I have a vibrant that is rooted and custom rom loaded.
I've had the custom rom for 3-4 months now.
I reloaded some crappy rom, and after I did that, no matter what rom i put on it, I get this ringer problem.
So, no, it's really a problem, you're not imaging it.
So far I can only think that the default build.prop has been funked with.
Or, one of the programs that you installed is messing with it.
I think that it more likely is #1 because on fresh install the phone is fine. But upon reloading all my apps (apps only, no data/ system data), the damn phone will funk up and do the ring crap again.
So, try Odin - to stock and from there, flash a brand new rom and restore one by one.
Sorry mate, that's what I've found, it sucks. I hope you found a solution for this. Like I said, I have a Vibrant, so I don't browse the "Aria" forum at all. I found this thread on GOOGLE.
If you find out anything, PLZ PLZ PLZ, - contact me.

I realized today that my phone no longer vibrates or has haptic feedback. I have vibrate turned on for both calls and texts. I even downloaded Sound Manager to make sure settings were set to vibrate whenever possible. But my phone still doesn't vibrate when i receive texts/calls/change volume to vibrate using the side volume buttons.
I can't really remember when this happened. Would rooting my phone have caused this? It may have been that time since I rooted it a few days ago, but I am not sure.
Thanks
No Vibrate or Haptic - after Bionix?
I am having the same problem. I believe it manifested right after I flashed Bionix ROM.
SOLVED--re-booting after flashing solved it. Sorry, I'm a NOOB.
Is it possibly to get vibrate to work only for voice calling? my vibrate options in setting Always, Never, Only in silent mode, and only when not in silent mode.
Yep ..go to your settings>call settings>all calls>alerts on call
Thanks, but it doesn't seem to work for me...
I'm running Bionix V w/ JL5 radio. Could it be the radio?
Rooted for the first time yesterday and flashed DasBamf Sense 3.0 RC4. My only issue is that when I set my sound profile to vibrate mode, none of my messages (or notifications, for that matter) vibrate on incoming, even though the "Vibration feedback for calls and notifications" box is checked.
Anybody else have issues with this?
Thanks
I tried it on mine. I don't normally use vibrate. When I set the sound profile to vibrate and sent myself a txt it didn't vibrate. I had to go into the message app and go into settings and turn on vibrate there also. Then it worked. I know calls vibrate when sound profile is set to vibrate but other notifications have to be set separately.
sent from my BAMF'n thunderbolt.
Hi, I just bought a Vibrant and used Kies to update it to 2.2 Froyo stock. It is rooted and unlocked. For some reason vibrate does not work at all. I tried:
- Volume down button to vibrate mode
- *#0*# brings up a debug screen, clicked vibrate test
- Set up SMS notifications for vibrate
- Settings->Sounds, vibrate on max settings and vibrate always
- Installed Sound Manager app, set vibrate to vibrate whenever possible
None of the above result in any vibrate...
Is this a known issue with Android 2.2 stock? How do I go about fixing this? Hopefully it isn't a hardware issue..
Could be the phone!
Flash another ROM and see is the problem persists.
