Q: User Agent Switching to IE - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that using the about:debug will let me change the user agent to desktop however I work with some websites that require IE. Is there a way to fake the browser ID?

[Q]Changing the UA String on Google Browser

Hi so I'm having some trouble changing the UA string on the default google browser on my atrix. I'm trying to change the webpage view to the desktop view. I open the browser and go to a webpage that is displaying the mobile format. I enter "about:debug" and click go and that allows me to access the extended settings where I find the UA string. I change it to Desktop and click the home button. I open up the browser again and still the webpage is in its mobile version. It's pretty frustrating and I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I prefer to view the webpages in its original format instead of the mobile. I know other browsers such as Dolphin allow for this but I want to take advantage of the new Google Instant preview and those browsers don't allow that. Can someone help me out here I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

[Q] How to disable mobile websites?

Anyone know how? Even when unchecking mobile view a lot of sites still show up as mobile.
type (about:debug) then press enter
Go into the internet setting and select ua string(desktop)
Go back to the website and refresh.....press thanks if I helped
Try a different browser like Miren or Dolphin, both have the ability to be seen as a desktop but you'll have to change that in the settings tab. Sometimes I need to get corp email via a browser and if it shows mobile it will not load so I use either of these with no issues.
are there any browsers that will trick hulu into letting us watch?
Ok so I typed it in but comes out as a google search item?
And when I set it as my home page, it just loads a white screen

lapdock and facebook question

Does anyone know how to stop the lapdock showing the mobile site of facebook rather than the normal one every time i enter wwwdotfacebbokdotcom it loads with m.facebook.com?
create a shortcut in the dock.
no, just tried that sill reverts back to the "m" site ?
are you using the lapdock's firebox browser? or are you using the phone's browser while in lapdock's?
Its when using the firefox lapdock browser or the lapdocks facebook shortcut
Have you tried Dolphin Browser HD? In the initial setup, you can choose what kind of device you'd like the browser to tell the website you're using. Like say for instance, android phone, desktop, ipone, or ipad.
I tried accessing the facebook site from my lapdock's browser and it sent me to the non-mobile site. I don't know what could be going on with yours.
sorry. :\
Potential Fix for this issue
The problem everybody is experiencing develops when the initial request is sent to the Facebook server and the "user agent" string is sent. By default, the user agent string is set to Android, but can be set to Chrome Desktop to allow a full website experience. Some website's written or optimized for a specific browser may still disregard this setting, but Facebook does not, and will display the full site ... I have the laptop dock and this works.
In the firefox browser, go to the add-ins page and search "user agent". Install one of them and select "firefox 4" from the new menu. Reload the page and it should show the full version instead of the mobile version of the page.
You need to use a user agent spoof add-in to tell the facebook server that you are a full web browser and not a mobile web browser.
I have tried the top 3 user agent programs and connot find the firefox 4 option.
You say you have to spoof the web page, when I first used it it worked fine, and other users all say theirs work fine too without messing with the settings.
I have also done a hard reset on the phone so its not that, it must be somthing in the lapdock, -
question can the lapdock be reset in any way, I know it has nothing inside as such but pehaps there is somthing in there?
Install the add-on called "User Agent RG 1.0" and then under Tools -> User Agent, select "Firefox 4". You have to make this selection every time you open the firefox browser in the webtop as the setting is not preserved.
I think this is phone browser problem .

Setting User Agent in Chrome?

Did anyone find a way to set the user agent to desktop on the Chrome browser? I couldnt find where to do so. I even do about:debug but i got nothing. Chrome is already my favorite browser but its really annoying without able to change the user agent
So is there a tweak, or sth that will make the browser stay on dekstop,

Is the In-app browser gone from Facebook app?

I am a web developer, and my boss always ask me how to redirect Android mobile phone user to mobile version of the site,
and we both know basically check the user string to see if it contains 'Mobile', but the webview In-app browser in Facebook always return some non-standard user agent string, ex:HTC M7 will not contains 'Mobile', so is hard to determine it's mobile / tablet.
And today I try to check the user agent string again on my phone, the in-app browser is gone, I didn't turn of in app settings, it missing the setting too, also my wife's phone is gone.
Can anyone can let me know is your Facebook app also missing the in-app browser now?
Maybe Facebook removed the feature/
Thanks.
