I havent found Xperia X8 in the support list for Android rom kitchen. But there are lot of custom rom coming for X8. Are all these rom made without using Rom kitchen? I like to learn the procedure to cook roms, but If this rom kitchen doesent support X8 I can avoid reading and understanding the procedure for using the same software.
Have anyone tried to build cutom rom using Android Rom Kitchen? If so please tell me can I start with android rom kitchen for cooking roms for X8?
The best way is to try it and see
OK..I hope my phone will not be a paper weight after this.....
In case something bad happens will I be able to restore mt backup using Xrecovery or SEUS?? If I can do that I am ready to do it...What you guys think???
yes it can be used for modding X8 roms (but not for build rom),i ever use it with the latest dsixda kitchen rom. but still having problem with app2sd, when we try to mod a custom rom that have native app2sd installed, the kitchen rewrite it to move data2sd automaticaly(if we don't have higher class of sdcard it will be a big problem).
*if you wanna use xrecovery to reflash, yes it can as long as the installation completen the device could boot on the logo
*last chance if stuck use SEUS
ps: im a X8 user
sorry for my "E"
regards,
cruizz
Thank you cruizz.....
In that case I am ready..... Going to Start with some hard reading of the available guides.....

should i try to flash a custom rom or edit the official wan? i wan my phone to have good speed, eyecandy n good batery life.. i wan to try energy rom but i scared this brick my phone.. would flash a custom rom bricked the phone easily? anyone help pls
I've done both tweak the stock rom and then flashed a custom rom (energy stand 23xxx series) and to be honest i prefer the custom roms over tweaked stock, mainly because i find the energy roms to be more stable, even though i'm using a rom based around winmo 6.5.3.
It's actually not that easy to brick your phone but i would advise you do all the related reading first and i would also suggest you start off by tweaking the stock rom before you flash a custom one. It will give you the opportunity to learn what works and what you like first.
At the end of the day the choice is yours and your fellow users can only make suggestions on the direction you should take
i have been editing stock rom since long ago, n i knw wat i want so i decided to flash an energy rom soon.. thx =)
If somewhere in time X8 get Froyo, will there be Flash support? Cause i read that the flash support depends on processor or something like that.
10x for you answers.
Well the official statement from adobe is that flash 10.1 requires ARM version 7 CPU and our is version 6. Despite of this there is custom froyo roms for other devices with arm v6 cpu so it should be possible. The short answer is that is SE make official froyo or gingerbread rom for X8 it will be probably without flash or with flash lite 4. If we manage to make custom froyo rom it will probably have flash.
Why we don`t start a work on a custom froyo rom ?

'We' is funny word. It means 'I will try to do nothing, but I'm waiting for others'
In fact I can try to bring this up myself but I am new to Android development not new to Linux (as an Unix System Administrator). So if someone give info what is needed to be done I thing that I can create a froyo rom by myself.
As I understand the problem with froyo is that it use a different kernel then the eclair. But because Android is basically linux the kernel don`t affect the software only affect the communication with the hardware (drivers). So we have a 2.6.29 kernel on our X8. If we can use the same kernel for the froyo apps then we can run froyo as well on the same kernel (same hardware) also we can run Android 2.3 on the same hardware/kernel.
there are different APIs.. eclair uses API 7, froyo uses API 8 (info from Android SDK).
so there can be difference in drivers and other.. but it's only my guesses, dont blame on me

You can study the asop froyo rom made by zdzihu for x10 and try something similar for x8.
I don't know anything about linux so can't help you there...
Sent from my X8 Rooted+JiT+App2sd
As I understand this ASOP Froyo MOD is only the system.img and data.img and it`s exactly what I need to make the rom for X8 basically what I thing should work is to flush the Phone to 2.1 rooted and after that on the part when we copy the /system folder to copy the one form the Froyo MOD this will work i suppose but need to try it.
Installation process is quite ok but you'll need to make it compatible to x8..
On milestone it was possible. Old kernel and fully working froyo features. It has bootloader locked by 1024 rsa key. Its possible to build froyo on old kernel, but who can do it? We lack of experienced developers unfortunately.
Flash is a different matter, it won't work witch our processor, but froyo optimization is far more important.

Hello everyone, I´m new on the android word and just got myself an x10 mini, and would like to install a ROM. the real thing im after is the ability to save apps to SD, I tried installing App2sd, using a tutorial in these forums, but it completely broke android 3 times, getting stuck on an endless reboot cycle.
Now that that option is out of the window I am looking at ROMS.
My phone is flashed with an international firmware, with band M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015, Android 2.1. What would be the best ROM (given persona experience) fully working, of course?
Thank you,
DamDSx
hi im pretty new too, but found it quite easy, i installled 2.3.3, i havent got time right now to post the links il get back 2 you if you havnt sorted it, but you can get all links and software from this site, the easiest way i found was using superoneclick to root, just one click! then youl need xrecovery to backup (just incase) &restore then browse for the rom you want to use, if you have a look you'll find all these on here with n00bie instructions 4 us beginners, hope this helps some what.
Im going with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200675
Currently backing up with Xrecovery, but im not sure if I need to wipe user data and cache? the rom guide does not say anything

welcome 2 android
ROM's are of personal taste and as the camera problem of gingerbread is fixed, most of the ROM's are fully working.....as u r new to android, i would suggest you to go for MiniCM7 2.0.5 as the MiniCM is perfectly "tailored" for the mini's small screen estate...however, other ROM's like GingerDX, FroyoBread, MiniCM6, Andread etc are very stable alternatives too ..i am using "FRoyoBread" latest version because i find the battery consumption to be less than the Gingerbread builds
if you are after the ability of moving the apps to SD, most ROM's would suffice. But, i'll give u a caution, don't move apps with "Widget" support or "operational" apps to the SD card...many a time u will get a "problem loading widget" popup or your SD card won't show up on the computer.
try some ROM's until u find the one u would like the best...most of the ROM's are great because OUR DEVS ARE AWESOME
if i helped you, press the "THANKS" button

yes u NEED to format the user data and the cache for avoiding startup bootloops
Search before you ask
try this TUT http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194499
Thank you. Android is awesome!
I´m trying GingerDX, the only problem I have found is the keyboard. it was too big for the screen (Unmodified X8 port) but ThickButtons from the market fixed it. Loving Gingerbread so far. On a side note, my new phone, and thus Android, has put some stress between me and my wife, because ive been spending more time with the phone than with her! lol!
Indeed the devs are awesome. THANK YOU!!!!!
HI all,
I upgraded my x10 mini pro to 2.1, i have not done any modification for my phone apart from that . I want to customize my phone as much as it can be done(rooting, kernel and stuff).
Please guide me to make my phone interesting.
P.S:- U can term me as a lame guy when it comes to mobiles
Thanks
Actually all of those tutorial has been posted in here, just give it a look around & ya will found it.
Just try using it for rooting and installing xrecovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913136&highlight=script) and to install custom roms, download what do you want, I recommend MiniCM7 Pro by paul-xxx.
As of currently, no full custom roms are possible. Only roms which are based on the stock kernel as the bootloader is locked tight and we have almost succeeded bypassing it, I believe.
i always wanted to make a custom rom with my sing on it but for my personal use only....i manage this with this guide http://forum.xdadevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=1132724
and my rom is working perfectly without bug as i can see until now...but i want to add some custom boot animations or add teawks and some other "hacking" things on my Gnote so i was wondering if some one can show me a guide to do it or tell me...Also i am using the dsixda's Android Kitchen now to see with what method i am doing better work...
I am also new to this but successfully I have created a ROM for SGS II without any kitchen or whatever from Base! My Advice is You first Get a Skeleton Rom and Study Android File Structure(FOLDERS WITHIN ROMS) not FILE SYSTEM(EXT4 etc). I will guide more If you start and finish what I said previously!
Thanks always Appreciated!
ok i have make one rom with skeleton rom and is working perfectly with the cg root kernel and also with abyssnote ...i didnt face any issue so far....
Good! You should now tweak the Framework and make it stable while adding no themes!
Deodexing and CRT off and BatteryMod plus Extended power menu should be in your rom before posting on XDA because all other ppl like these features so much that now it's compulsory in every rom!
That things is what i want on my note from the day i bought it....but i dont know how to add them to my rom (the method to do it)....so far with the guide it was so "easy" (after 20) to learn anything the guide said i have manage to build one deadoxed and zipaling rom tha i am proud of after my hard time with google searching for this staff...But now i am in a dead End.
