Ok i hacked my webtop but is their a way to run apps in it like media players that support more formats ?

You can fullscreen the phone view and do it that way, but the resolution and framerate suck.

Possible to stream videos to xbox 360?

Apologies if this is a stupid question...
When I record a video on my phone, I'd like to be able to stream the clip on to my television through AllShare. Sadly, my television won't play the files. Neither will my 360.
Is it simply that neither will recognise the file format? Or am I doing something completely wrong?
I don't think the 360 supports the playback of recorded videos. I couldn't get mine to work when I tried.
It seemed to be pushing a 3gpp video instead of the mp4 when I did it. Maybe the fact that it was 1080p didn't help either.
Must give it another go at some point.

You can stream via allshare to the xbox, but the xbox has to be in media center mode.

Best video player?

What is the best video player that works pretty good on the atrix and plays a good number of different formats

Mobo Player
Second that, free, stable and feature rich
mVideoPlayer. Never failed me.
Hi there, I think I might try out these recommended video players. But before I do, I wondered if anyone could let me know why the videos I'm copying across to the phone (divx AVI episodes of TV shows downloaded via BitTorrent) don't stretch to the full size of the screen?
I have tried RockPlayer and yxplayer and what appears to be the standard 'video player'. yxplayer doesn't appear to do anything (or can't play divx AVI files), the other two play it in the centre of the screen with heaps of space around the sides.
When I play the same files on my TV through my PVR, they stretch to fit my TV screen dimensions and look really sharp. Was hoping the same would occur on the phone, so I would have something to watch on tomorrow's interstate flight.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also try qqplayer which can actually play a 1080p mkv file. though it will run very slow it still tries at least unlike most players!
Anyone know of any player that can fill the screen WITHOUT stretching the picture (in other words, it zooms in to fill the screen). I had that on windows mobile but have never found an Android player that does this.

Try taking a look at arcMedia.
Mobo Player.
I prefer mVideoplayer because it will display the folders that I have my videos in. I have over a 100 tv episodes for 7 to 8 different shows and not having them organized by folder drives me crazy.

Try using the soft-decoding for the file or possibly re-encoding it.
I like MX video player

MX player is the best. It is free.
I found dice player to be really good. It's able to play most videos using hardware decoding.

[Q] slow playback when trying to play. WMV file

I downloaded a short clip video from a website on to my phone. It's a .wmv file about 8 megs in size, when I try to play it back in rockplayer it playsback very slow, like it's in slow motion. Yet when I playback a video recorded by the phone playback is normal and smooth.
Anybody know why?

Anybody have an idea?!

What media player are you using to view the file?

wmv files are always a pain in the ass, they always play slower than usual if they are really using the wmv codecs, this is seems more a codec issue than a phone issue.
Have you tried other files with same extension?
hook the file to the computer and check the codec using Media Player classic from K-lite codec pack, on the properties you can see the codec used.
If on your computer the file get heavy/slower to jump from one time to other this is for sure a codec issue.
Do you get any additional lags anywhere?
Maybe the version of rock player that you are using is not the good one for your phone.
Are you using hardware acceleration? (rockplayer config)

Yes I am using whatever the latest of rockplayer is.
No I'm not using hardware acceleration. Where do I get that?!
Gladbto know it's more a codex issue than a phone thing. Still annoying though.
So is an easy fix to use hardware acceleration? !
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
You can try QQPlayer if it ends up being a codec issue, or system player will even play some wmv.
Is it a 720p video? High resolution or bitrate could be the problem too. Hd video is just impractical to use on x10 unless it's from the video camera.
Stick with sd mp4 trailers if you can find them.

Vital player plays Wmv ok for me, had slow speed with arc media.

[Q] streaming from pc to vibrant help.

I have tried various apps. I have been able to connect to my network browse all files. Its just when I go to play the file it says wrong format. The funny thing is I can place these files on my vibrants SD and play them fine...
I am using trigger redux cm7 and loving it!!!!!
Anyone lol?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Files will stream if they are encoded to do so and are in a format that the vibrant can play. Mp4 files with the file info in the header would be your best bet.
Another option would be to use a streaming server/client solution like box stream and convert.it is available in the market.

What do you mean by "in the header " and I tried getting both those apps couldn't find anything pertaining to streaming or encoding.

When you have the Vibrant then you have AllShare preinstalled...you use it?
Cause with AllShare you can watch all the vids that are on your PC via Mediaplayer...all you have to do is, add the Moviefolder to the Mediaplayer Libary and you are good to go.
I have no trouble at all streaming everything to my phone, only old codec versions like XVID or DIVX are making problems, but those are really old.

Looking for a youtube to mp3 app for ICS.anyone know any?

Title says it all.thanks.

Have you tried Jetvd, that's what I use. Hasn't been available in the market for a while but google-able.

Tubemate, using on CM9 without a problem.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
Maybe try using a user script (usersscripts.org) which allows you to download the video, possibly also the audio track? These are snippets of Javascript which inject themselves into specific sites when you're viewing them. I use one named "YouTube to MP4" on Firefox on my desktop PC. Since the Android browsers are fully functional I expect the same option applies there.
For this option, Firefox requires Greasemonkey addon, but I believe it's a native option on Opera and Chrome.
Also try tubeGod(tubex) its no longer in the market so you have to search for it(its free so no problems)
Much better quality than tubemate imo and mp3s dont come as large as tubemate either
I extracted the audio from a video a few days ago
Tubemate(17mb)
TubeGod(1mb)

Tubemate's file size is big because it downloads the whole MP4 video and renames it as MP3.
