Is overstock out of date? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I haven't been up with xda lately and I'm a little out loop and I'm running team whiskey 1.3.1 with overstock and I love it and I'm hitting just at 2000. but my question is, are there better Rom and kernels combos plus I'm running zeam launcher.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

dont do the oc thing alot but i hear the dragon modz kernel is pretty crazy. Not sure if its better then overstock as im not a oc person.

If your Vibrant can handle OCing then you should definitely upgrade to Bullet. Extremely snappy yet stable and battery efficient at the same time. Oh and regarding Zeam, there's a new update 2.9.5

It's out of date with regards to voodoo sound. If you're sticking with no oc for overstock I'd try Bali.

Is dragon voodoo friendly? I have read topic and I just didn't see it.

Get Bullet. Very very nice. 2500 quadrant scores.

yes the dragonModz is crazy allows a sorta stable 1.5 ghz

Im pretty darn happy with my trigger rom and overstock. using setcpu at 400 max when screen is off, it only takes about 2% battery when the screen is off. awesssooommmeeee

Can you oc bionix-v?

Went from fjd to bionix-v today phone was oc'd but now setcpu won't let me oc bionix-v . Am I having an app problem or can you not oc it?

No its not...yet. Once the 2.2 source is released then team whiskey can go to work on building kernels that can oc/uv.
you can overclock with there dow kernels. it overclocks to 1.4 ghz and the phone is amazing fast but the kernel is based on gti9000 so the battery wont last long like 8-10 hrs on standby. but it still has voodoo patched into it so its crazy fast.

TW released a new OC today and they said it supports bionix mainly.
Its called power something look in development section

I didn't want to point him on that direction. I was assuming he was fairly new and the overclocking kernels can cause issues on some vibrants.

Yeah.....the dow is a little more than I want. Friggin quadrant score went from 880 to 2600... its very cool but not for me. Think ill search for something a little slower. Lol

I don't blame you. Once the source code is released then the devs will work on building kernels. It will be worth the wait.

Trigger or Bionix

Which do you prefer?

Bionix v 1.3! I have been using it moderately since 9:00 and it is now 12:10, only had time to charge it to 87 this morning. Now, 3 hours later; the battery is still at 76, so 11 percent with moderate usage. Amazing battery!! Would be on frost, but it didmt work very well on my phone for some reasons dn I love the black of bionix v

Both roms are fast, and have used both for at least 3 days(Trigger 2.6.2); both have excellent battery life.
I like Trigger's theme and look more.
BUT, Bionix 1.3 has 343mb Ram.
So, my vote goes to Bionix on that virtue.
Can't go wrong with either though
Trigger, with the OverStock Kernel = Heaven for me.
True...

To be fair, you can get 343mb on any rom you choose. It's the overstock kernel that allows the 343mb ram
With that said, choose which you like better

Right now I'm on Trigger. Bionix was my favorite, however I had some issues keeping connectivity to my company e-mail with it that I haven't had on Trigger. Otherwise, Bionix was fast and the battery life was amazing.
I have been using Bionix since Nero V and haven't encountered a problem yet. Yes Bionix. I tried Trigger once, i like them, but went back to Bionix.
does both ROMs support ffc?
Yes

I believe both do. I don't think what ROM you are using will affect the FFC if you have have SGSTool or something along the lines of that and other softwares you need on your phone for FFC.
Trigger, stable, fast, reliable. Add overStock to it and you will fall in love with your phone all over again, just like the day you got it! Plus, Birg makes sure the ROM gets only better and better with every release, just when you thought it doesn't get better than that!
Can't go wrong!

I've been running trigger for a few days now. It really is a top notch rom. Plus if you read thru the trigger thread you will see how much the devs help people out. Give it a shot you wont be sorry.

Ah, my bad. Didn't see that 2.6.4 has the option of Rom w/Overstock in 1 flash =)
This thread was kind of pointless. Of course people are going to choose what they currently run. If they didn't, why would they run it?
So, basically.... let's go ahead and sum up everyone's opinion on XDA. More people have downloaded and installed the Bionix series. Is this because it's been around longer? Possibly. Is it because Team Whiskey followers are persistent? Possibly.
I have personally tried both. I'm sticking to what I know and what I know are Team Whiskey's ROM's. Trigger is a machine though, I can assure you.
Happy choosing

You really need to try them both for looks and feel. What I like best may not look good to you. Flashing is a big part of the fun running a vibrant
Yea both a good!

bionix... its super fast, and looks so slick
The key here is the overstock kernel, you can flash either bionix, trigger, axura rom then flash the lastest overstock kernel over it. Then start kicking ass!
I flash overstock on top of axura, got a quarant score of 1839 and a neocore of 64.9.
I was a steady user of Bionix for quite sometime but I must say, Trigger has made a believer out of me. As it's been stated, the Overstock kernel will crank your phone up to 11 no matter which rom you use, but I dunno, Trigger just seems to hit a sweet spot for me.
Try them both, it's insanely easy to switch roms these days. Haven't ran into a bootloop or anything in ages.

Best Rom?

What do you guys think the best all around rom is? I'm currently running trigger 3.0.0 and battery life and stability is GREAT but it isn't as nice or cool looking as CM7 or MIUI. I've tried almost every rom out there and I can't seem to find the perfect rom with looks, customization AND stability so i want your opinion.
If you can handle no gps, poor battery and not powering off your phone to charge the battery, CM7 is amazing.
I was running CM7 for about two weeks but the battery life was horrible so I switched back to Trigger. It's the best rom in terms of looks and customization but the battery life was bad and I couldn't figure out how to use my FFC. Great rom just not stable enough.

Try the EDT's 2.2.1, also when you say Trigger is not stable you might be doing something wrong.

Oh I was referring to CM7 when I said it isn't stable.
I've been using Bionix 1.3.1 since it came out, and love it.
Stable, fast, great battery, great everything really.
1.3.2 is even better!
Absolutely no hiccups with Bionix 1.3.2
The more I read Bi-Winning is in tip top shape too
running bi-winning with no problems. with overstock kernel. kb5 modem.
BIONIX V 1.3.2....
Runnin' something from TW!
Definitely not Bionix ;] but seriously try Bionix, or TOXIC FIRE (I capitalized it because it's better)

It's almost stupid how outrageously fast it is!
Here I was thinking 1.3.1 was fast, this just blows it away and it hasn't even been officially released by TW yet.
If, as a test, it's this fast I can't even imagine what the final thing will be like!
Bionix is old and ive found trigger to be superior.
But recently ive dropped trigger too in favor of bi-winning since v2 came out
Now im running galaxy xtreme v2.1 and so far it seems to be the absolute smoothest of all the roms ive tried

i usually only use tw roms and highly recommend them but i am trying bi-winning right now and loving it its awsome got some good themes too.
after i went to cm7 the first time i used atriarc then bi-winning. but i'm back on cm7 again. cm7>working gps.
Trigger + overstock kernel is very stable for me with 12 to 15 hours battery life plus a great gps locks within 30s

[Q] Froyo Kernal recommendations?

Hey guys, I've been flashing roms and kernels for a while now so i know how to do so. I was just wondering what kernel you guys are using right now and which one gives you best battery life. Currently I'm running Immortality v2 but i am getting persistent SOD's after a few hours of screen off. I would like something that could last me a whole day which is about 18 hours of just moderate texting and occasional browsing. I have tried the bali UV kernel but i cant get it to work for a full day for some reason.
Btw, I'm running bionix 1.3.1
I recommend Cmenards Overstock Kernel. In my opinion he makes the best ones around.
Simply Honey 3.9.1 powered by a 1.2ghz Bullet kernel..Simply Badass \m/
Bullet 1.42 bionix ng works perfect for me with heavy use tho dont expect to get through a whole day but on the other hand did I mention it was fast as hell!!

I go between Bali and Super DragonMODz. Both are great.
For those who say bali. Which one? The UV right? And it doesn't work with set cpu or volt. ctrl. So does it require any setup?

[Q] best kernal for bionix v 1.3.1?

just flashed bionixs v 1.3.1 and wondering what you all think i should run for the kernal? like to overclock a bit but save battery at the same time. ideas?
Bali 1.2

What are you looking for with the kernel
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
^ what he said.
To expand on that, you have two Bali variants to choose from if you're looking for battery life to be better. There is Bali-X 1.2, which is overclockable to 1.2ghz and gives you total control of undervolting (with the use of Voltage Control app). This is more for hands-on use, where you can tinker with different voltages for potentially greater battery life savings with deeper UV action from -25, -50, -75, and so on across all frequencies.
If you just want something simple right out the box that you don't have to tweak anything to, there is Bali 1.8.8UV. This is a kernel (kernel, not kernal, please make note of that for the future ) which is -25 all across the board. This is the "flash it and forget it" kernel if you don't feel like doing any tinkering around and want the benefits of an undervolted kernel and don't really have or feel the need for the 1.2ghz availability.
Link for Bali is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043947
Happy flashing!

Check out an app called Battery Graph which gives you a simple visual of your battery use over time. Also, don't forget to do battery calibration (using a handy app by the same name) to reset your battery stats for a fresh start on the new kernel.

Try project V anf Bali X you'll forget where you left your charger.
Vibrant+MIUI
im gonna rock this rom for awhile.
I've tried most kernels and put them under the same controlled stress tests.
On my phone, Bali 1.2 is the winner.
Allows you to OC/UV whichever way you want. Use Voltage Control or SetCpu to play with the settings.
Immortality is a close second but I'd still go with Bali for a smidge better battery life.

They do. I'm running Bali 1.8.8 and it works but others have better luck running the Overstock kernel. You could also find Jellette's thread and get the s.gps.2.zip file (not in the op but like around pg.20 so u gonna have to look) and flash it then download Samsung gps restore from the market and run that then you should be set. Luck homie.
