When did this change? Last year when I was on business travel, I always would use Google voice when I didn't have service in my hotel room.
I just tried it, and it did not work on WiFi

Just more bullsh from HTC. First complaint I've ever made about this device. I'm Ann htc fan thru and thru. But that was really handy when I didn't have service.

Well, thanks for the heads up because I'm heading out on another business trip on Monday. I guess I will be downloading this app.

I am on Verizon.... And my pictures I'm recieving are all 30kb. I even tried pushing the messaging apk from codis and trying that..... Still horrible quality.... I don't understand. I have tried changing the mms maximum size to 500k 1m 1500k and 5m. No luck.

Just sent a picture from an iPhone on Verizon to my phone and its 350 kb.
I know cyanogen mods messaging app has horrible compression, and has had it for a while, but they refuse to acknowledge it. Does anyone texting you happen to use that?

Since the release of 4.2 I have had a lot of trouble getting it MMS to work I've heard some solutions and work arounds so if you have it working just list the Rom, what messaging app, kernel, and what settings in the messaging app you use
Thanks for the help

I had this problem and I just turned off "auto receive mms" off in the stock messaging app. After that you just have to click "download" in the stock messaging app. You can't download the message via 3rd party app I found out.
I am on cm10.1 and use the stock messaging app. With default settings. The only thing I do is set network to CDMA/evdo since I don't have lte yet. Always works for me.

I've got lte and would like to keep it. I'm running nins latest and gosms solved the issue for me. I just use it once and that seems to kick start it

Yeah, I looked at that in settings and it was not checked. I just did a light re-flash of this rom, and they're still going to VM.

It happened to me, but my issue was extra ordinary since I would get calls with aosp-based roms. I had to take it to sprint and they said it was due to signal handoff issue between towers.

So, installed it to use it as my default text messaging application. However, one issue. Before I got it, I always received pictures. However, now I'm not receiving it even through my stock application. Anyone else having issues with MMS?

Sadly it will not allow me to send pictures either. After I try to, it somehow prevents me from even sending SMS until I restart my phone. Maybe I downloaded a bad Hangouts?

The strangest thing, is that even my stock messenger won't even receive MMS. That's why I'm confused if Hangouts did something, it's on Verizon's end, or if it's something else entirely.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah, the new Hangout makes it so even the stock messenger doesn't get MMS. So until that's fixed there is no point. Unless you never ever get any MMS.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
i cant send mms in hangouts, but i can send it from a different app.
And i can recieve mms(group messages as well as picture messages) in hangouts no problem
I installed it and it was working fine yesterday and now my entire phone can't send any texts. It can receive them but texts fail through any app, from stock, textra, or through hangouts. Help?
I've noticed that a weak signal won't send sms through hangouts but will send via messaging app. Not sure why, but I'm frequently in low signal areas and have to use the default messaging app to send. MMS and SMS seem to work fine with good signal. I'm on the newest release.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Here is a suggestion: It used to be that when sending MMS your 4G will turn on automatically. Instead, send something while 4G is on and WiFi is off. It has been working for me.
