Getting a new phone for my birthday, on the 27th. I either pick one now or wait for something else, which would be the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Now, if I pick something now, I have no idea what I would get, but I really wanna wait for the Galaxy S2. That being said, I can't get it if it's not coming out for like 6 months, but if it's only gonna be like 2 months, then that's okay.(For US that is...I would buy from UK but price are showing $650+)
As for the price, I don't have any upgrades available, but since it's my birthday, parents will pay for around $150. I start work tomorrow at Target(starting pay at $7.50 too!) and so I hope to save for that, but I don't know if I'll have enough if it's gonna be like $600.
So what do you guys think about the release date and price?
Everything is pointing to within two months
As for a US-Specific version? Who knows. ATT could drag their feet on their model.
The US models are typically cheaper than the international models though- the original SGS was the same way. International version/unlocked rates are $100-200 higher than the Captivate here in the US.

Well, considering it's a quad band device I'm hoping the US carriers don't demand changes.
My captivates screen just cracked(nasty fall) no insurance so i got att retention to give me an early upgrade and have the htc inspire for $75 with a 2 year. I will have another upgrade in april i plan on using for the SGS2 but who knows if it will be out by then. If it isnt then im selling my inspire useing my upgrade on a iphone and then reselling it and bam should have enough for the god of all phones the SGS2.
well thats my plan anyway

I don't know if it's still going on but amazon had it for $60 and you didnt need a new contract. But you already bought it, so oh well.

March 27 birthday here
Well, turns out I get a phone upgrade in June. At least I'll be able to see some reviews before I get it. Or maybe it won't be out yet and I can still be one of the first people to get their hands on it!

Also US models are typically late of 4 months for update to new Android version than International models
I wouldn't waste my time with feature-deprived, carrier-bloat, delayed-updates, contracts, or any of the headaches that come with the US cell carriers.
I will personally never buy a contract phone again. You lose all leverage against the carrier. For example, my family has reduced price cable and free movie channels because we threatened to switch providers.
Sent from my Captivate.

Heres why i Think contracts give you more benefits and leverage.
they dont want you to cancel in contract or not they will still do the same to help you. ATT bloatwhere is the worst tho.
-Never get angry
-be kind to the rep(treat them how you would like to be treated)
-tell them you dont want to leave att but you dont really have a choice if you cant get your issue resolved.
-if the rep still doesnt budge tell them you want to cancel service. this will get you transfered to the save team a.k.a retention. Now these people have the power.
-once you have retention online chances are you will get what you want and more trust me.
I used to work for att. I know all the ins and outs. Retention department is key. ATT gives credits like nothing. when my captivate just broke I got them to give me my upgrade now instead of july waived upgrade fee(which is BS anyway) and $30 off my bill for the next 6 months (180) not to mention when i left them i had my friend/coworker put the best company discount on my account which happens to be coca cola. so I also recieve 28% off my primary line and I believe a smaller percentage off data planes. it saves me $50 plus every month off my bill. Just gotta know how to work the system. I dont know why they are so generous but i tried doing things like this on my fathers vzw account and they will not budge. I love ATT and wont part with them. I have another upgrade on another line come april this year which will be used for galaxy S2. much rather sign a 2 year and pay $200 over $800 for international version when im gonna just root it and put my own rom on there any way.
If anyone is having trouble with att. PM and I will give you some advice.
they did crack down on the company discount thing tho you do have to show proof i am grand fathered in tho.
ill be happy to help
Err, guys? Has anyone else noticed that Wikipedia lists April 1st as SGS II release date for the US?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II
I dont think that means anything. 1. April is already listed there since 20th february.

I'm stoked about getting an international version of a phone instead of one from AT&T. Its been a long time since I've had one like that.
Living in the US, any ideas when/where we can preorder?

Just sold my Atrix, loved it but that locked bootloader and the underwhelming screen kinda annoyed me. I am willing to pay extra for an international version SGS II that will work on AT&T's 3G bands.

I got my GF an Atrix on release day to replace her Nexus 1. She used it for a week and absolutely hated it (lots of problems) so we swapped it for an Inspire. So far she's fine with that.
We'll know more at CTIA but it may be pretty late in the year considering the previous Galaxy S US version was also announced at CTIA only to be released in July for T-Mobile.
I am guessing 1st week of May. usually 4 to 6 weeks behind Europe They will pay 830 so minus VAT 581 USD
I was just wondering, is the 2.3 update Motorola dependent or carrier dependent?
The Atrix isn't selling too well here in Canada and if it's bell who has the final say on the update... I think ill just return my Atrix
who told you the atrix isnt selling well in canada?
(just asking because afaik its selling quite well for a high end phone.)

Maybe he assumes since they cut the price by $100 (on contract) in the first week it is because of slow sales.
NOTE: checking their website again it looks like its back up to $169. I wonder what was with the temp price drop. Oh well, saved me $100.

well $69 dollars for three years. THREE YEARS sometimes phones in America go for that price but for 2 years. I think it is overpriced at $169 for 3 years.
Uh.. I've been to 5 different stores recently in Toronto and they either have only sold one or none. This phone is obviously not selling well, who's been telling you it has been?
Honestly like, I've never seen a high end phone go on sale a week after launch. Somethings not right.

I think the reason they dropped the price was because the day it came out, they dropped all the other smartphones to $0 except for the iPhone 4. Now if you're a customer coming into a Bell store not knowing much about the Atrix, those other phones are impossible to pass up "Hmm, $0 or $169. Wow that HD7 has a huge screen and it's $0. I'll take that one!". Bad marketing by Bell, nothing more

maybe bell is trying to get people to to sign a 3 year contract, its called marketing, contracts are worth much more than the $100 they are discounting. do you know how many stores in toronto is selling the atrix? theres no way to guess how many are sold based on visiting 5 stores and asking the employee...have you considered they were not telling you the truth, ive been to a few bell stores where their employees are apple fanboys that were trying to only push the iphone to customers.

5 stores that I randomly choose that has terrible sales? That's a pretty slim chance.
Anyways, thats not important. I went to return it today and apparently bell won't let me because I've exceeded 50mb of data usage. Even the Futureshop salesman was shocked to find out about this. They told me to go back tomorrow morning to speak with a full time salesman and figure things out there...
I hope I can return this phone and cancel this contract...
When I got my Atrix in the period of time I was in the store 3 other people came in and bought it as well so I wouldn't call that bad sales. Plus I know 4 other people that are going to pick one up.
As for the contract, under Canadian law you have 14 days to suffer from buyers remorse and get out of any contract. For your phone, when I signed up for it I was told I had 14 days or 30 minutes of talk time to return it and nothing about data use, so I wish you the best of luck for that part.
I'm in vancouver and as I was buying mine, this 60+ year old lady comes in and buys one... I was blown away... I asked her if this was her first android device and she said she owned a magic before. I was impressed.

I think it depends more on Motorola, the carrier just pushes it to you when its done.
The Guy at the corner store has sold 30 Bell atrix, 12 iPhones & 2 chocolate doughnuts this month. The iPhone is clearly starting to fail.

You're exaggerating now, because you were initially wrong.
In any event, even if you're correct (which you're not, I know direct and indirect dealers in your market), you're only talking about 1 market which you're wrong about anyway.
And yes, updates are released by carriers and are subject to their approval/branding/pollution. This matter changes if the phone's bootloader becomes cracked and capable of loading different ROMs however.

I can find this phone in stock anywhere in Downtown Toronto in any types of Store(Bell, FutureShop, Bestbuy, Source or whatever)
Man, Bell representatives are so clueless sometimes. There are no restrictions on data usage for smartphones but the first 2 bell ppl kept insisting there was a 50mb limit. I just wasted the whole day trying to get this sorted out. Finally the third person agreed with me and said that the previous 2 thought the Atrix was a tablet. WTF??
Anyways, phone's returned and everything, I feel so relieved now. I had to think real hard about this phone. Then I realized, if I had to think this hard then obviously I wasn't satisfied with it.
That was my first smartphone and I was not impressed with android. Maybe I just expected too much. I did love the fact that I can download mp3's for free and watch flash videos, but there was a key piece missing which was crucial to me. The overall user interface was not fluid like the Iphones are. I would hit the home button and it would sometimes work. Then when I tap it again, the phone would register everything in the queue 2 seconds later. I know some people are ok with this, I am not. I got a high end phone and I expect the same as I do with a high end PC, not lag on current generation software.
When Android irons out these issues out then maybe I'll consider using android again. I think fragmentation really hinders android just like it did for PCs (still does to a degree?).
Sorry for the rant, Futureshop/Bell really pissed me off today.

They probably sold them and those were the ones that they are currently selling.
I found this out a few days ago but thought it deserved a thread. So I went to my go to at&t Guy at my store near me and when he tried to look up full retail pricing, he found out that the Note will only be available to purchase by adding two years to your contract. They will not be offering it to be purchased out right at first. He said they do this sometimes when they have an exclusive on a phone for awhile. So you won't be able to pick this BEAST up right away without adding two more years to your contract.... oh well I'm still getting it.
Well sorry for any confusion. It appears all the AT&T people I talked to over the phone our idiots and that the store employees were feed the same crap when they tried to look it up for me. Man you would think they would be on the ball. I think they're seriously underestimating this phone like they did in Europe. I hope that doesn't lead to shortages in the states, like some areas had (Norway from what my friend told me). So you can pre order off contract at 649.99. HAPPY SHOPPING FUTURE NOTE OWNERS!!!!
You can always get one of the Bell/Telus/Rogers units that will be hitting the market here in less than two weeks. Same unit (i717) as the AT&T version but without the AT&T bloatware (and possibly without any external carrier branding on at least the Bell version).
I expect you'll see them on Craigslist for $600, shipping to the US isn't that expensive, and unlocking shouldn't be an issue. And places like Negri or Expansys will also be selling them.
Are you guys sure to get an i717 instead a n7000?
That hardware is less for same price, also devs are working on international version.

I was wondering if you could ask your guy a question for me if you get the chance. I live in California and the tax laws here are such that we pay tax on the full retail price of the phone, not the upgrade price -- even if we're purchasing as an upgrade. So . . . if they don't have a retail price yet then are they only going to charge me tax on the upgrade price?

I have an N7000, and I don't think the 717 is "less hardware". Same display (most expensive part) same digitizer, same amount of RAM/ROM, same battery, a very close equivalent processor (really, it is, for anyone not running benchmarks all day long), and a better radio that supports both 42Mbs DC HSPA+ and LTE. Plus local warranty and insurance support.
Depends on your priorities, I would think.
i have n7000 and def keeping it, but to the ATT guys that want the i717 your best bet is not rogers in canada.
it will be either bell or telus, both these companys keep their phones unbranded. no carrier stampings on the phone/battery cover.
also ours comes out a week earlier.

In answer to my own question, I just got off the horn with AT&T and they told me that they would only charge tax on the upgrade price if it releases with no retail price.
Also . . . is it just me or does every single thread on these forums mentioning the AT&T version of this device eventually boil down to a snapdraggon flamewar rendering the point of the thread moot?
Looking forward to getting a dedicated forum to the AT&T device.

I went through the flame wars when I got my skyrocket. It is a great phone with an S3 processor. I have the international gnote now, but may consider selling my skyrocket for the att version of the gnote (off contract) so I can keep lte which is prevalent in my state.
But yes the threads will devolve unfortunately, even after the forums split. It is much like how every att lte phone forum devolves into a rant about throttling for the lte unlimited plan members and how att is beyond the evil empire...

AT&T sales rep here. Thought I would clear some things up.
This phone WILL be available for purchase without a contract. Just not at first because it is currently not on our shelves. With the preorder, it will only be available as an upgrade w/ a 2 year contract for 299.
On launch day when you are able to buy it in-store, you will have the option to pay the full non-commitment price for the phone.
As for this phone vs the international. They're both incredible devices. Nothing changes that. As we have seen with the Skyrocket, this same hardware has incredible potential. Tons of overclocking headroom while staying stable.
I'm very excited to see it show up in our store.

Maroon . . . thanks for the info!
Don't suppose you have any info on the availability through Amazon Wireless? If and we'll they'll pick it up and whether or not they'll be doing preorders?
If I go through Amazon there's no tax and no shipping . . . so that's a plus. BUT . . . I've been waiting for this phone like a crazy person since before the N7000 release so I almost want to bite on the AT&T preorder so I can get it on the 17th . . . with tax and shipping that's going to be over $50 to pay just for impatience, though

If it weren't for the insurance thing I'd offer to sell you my i717 so I can buy an N7000 . . . lol. The no insurance thing on the international versions makes me nervous, though. Of course, AT&T's insurance is kind of bunk, too . . . oi

You can certainly buy third party insurance for the international GNote. I bought it for 59 for a year and it includes theft and loss.

Where'd you get the ins? I found a few different places but couldn't find any reviews on whether or not they were any good.
Im sure we'll have it available for outright buying at best buy too. Im sure ATTs insurance will have a monster deductible for a replacement, probably $200 like for the skyrocket and vivid. I know it sounds like a best buy plug but out protection is pretty bangin haha but I break a lot of phones so I really see the benefit of no deductible

Ensquared. I could not find any reviews either after a buddy told me about it. He has a claim for a damaged phone and they covered it. Since I bought an International GNote, I wanted to have it covered since I paid $650 for it. The deductible is based on the amount of damage and $75 maximum.
I did a quick search and saw this. Post #6

Samsung isn't planning on releasing this phone on the big red until MAY30 WHICH is very close to June and isn't there going to be a couple phone in June around that same type with the new snapdragon 800 like that new moto phone coming out so I'm.curious wouldn't the new phone in June play the new gs4 obsolete ? Samsung gs4 release so late will make it its own demise ! why is Verizon releasing this phone so late i mean if there's a phone within the same month of the gs4 with twice the power then I won't consider the gs4 when I can wait just 2 weeks and buy somethin much more superior in hardware and stock android Samsung is about to lose a tons of money on Verizon if they wait all th way to may30 around the same month as sum very new phones with double the power .... Why didnt the gs4 release earlier ?? in may when moto announces there phone which will prob kill the gs4 in every way specs and software within 3week after the gs4 comes to store everyone will cancel there preorders and just wait and extra 3week to get the most powerful phone with a better screen n better snapdragon n prob more sensors and better battery and full stock android!

That doesn't make a lot of sense. People in the U.S. typically get new phones when they become eligible so there's a steady stream of people year round looking to buy new phones no matter when they are released. People buy what pleases them. The DNA tanked on VZW and there were no other phones released before it or after it that caused its failure. And it was powerful and had the world's first 1080P display. People are still buying SGS3's in large quantities and probably will after the SGS4's out because the price will be reduced. The SGS4 will be on the market as a "flagship" for 9-12 months and Samsung's planning on selling 10MM a month. HTC, Motorola, LG, and Sony all introduced phones that competed with the SGS3 and it certainly didn't affect Samsung's sales last year. So there's no reason to expect it to this year either. And the average consumer doesn't know (or care) what a Snapdragon, Exynos, or Octa is.
Plenty of hot new phones came out after the Galaxy S3's July release in the U.S. like the Razr Maxx HD, Nexus 4, etc. yet the GS3 outsold all of them by a huge margin. The average consumer doesn't buy phones based mainly on hardware specs.
Verizon is launching it on may 23rd, not may 30th. I went to Verizon yesterday and there was a Samsung rep there showing the employees the s4 and they said the official launch date is the 23rd. I know that's still three weeks later than the rest, but at least its a week earlier than may 30th. I gotta question, is verizons s4 going to be harder to unlock and root than the rest of them? I heard Verizon likes to lock them down, and I've never owned a smartphone I've been holding out for this one. I own a nexus 7 which is obviously the easiest to unlock and root. But i know the s4 is a huge release so I'm kinda assuming that there will be a solid method to root for Verizon. Am i right?
According to official PR from Samsung today, it will be on all major US carriers by the end of April. I'm guessing April 30th.
The Galaxy S 4 is optimized for powerful performance on the nation’s fastest networks and will be available on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless as well as U.S. Cellular, Cricket and C Spire starting during April. Additionally, consumers can find the Galaxy S 4 at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile, Costco, Radio Shack, Sam’s Club, Staples, Target and Wal-Mart. Exact pricing and retail availability will be announced by each of the carriers and retailers in the coming weeks.

Available to carriers and carriers making the phone available to consumers are two different things.
And for the OP... i am not sure how new phones will make the s4 obsolete? a cpu does not a phone make....

But it says available on not to... I'm staying optimistic!
It also says "starting in april" that could mean that just one or a few carriers will roll it out in April.

I.D.K. why the O.P. is saying that the galaxy s4 would be obsolete soon i mean come on the motorla x phone right now is just a nice looking rumor plus a processor in a phone doesn't make all that difference because maybe you saw last year's htc one X+ it smoked the galaxy but the battery was really bad plus i hardly ever think android needs more power right now they need to be more battery friendly and better screen really what do you want more than 441ppi ?? anyway looking at all those gs4 specs and concediring what happened with last year's gs3 i can tell you that the galaxy won't go down till the gs5 is out so don't worry if verizon goes a few weeks later than everyone else it will still sell like hot cakes.
I still have unlimited internet after 4/21 can I buy new galaxy s4 cell using the new 12 month payment plan that's effective on 4/21 without upgrading to the 200sub? Does anyone know I think everyone who still has unlimited internet should ask Verizon this.. I wanna get the new s4 but keep my unlimited internet so will this 12month thing work for me?

I am going to tell you right now that Verizon's phones are the worst due to the spyware they bloat them up with. I hope they do as little to it as possible and there's no way verizon is going to pay for a S800 S4. They are cheap when it comes to there phones and replacing one that has gone bad is near impossible unless you take them to the FCC. If they ever touch my unlimited, I am gone with out a hint of doubt.

I actually find that replacing phones is very easy on verizon compared to sprint. I had sprint in the past and their customer service was atrocious. The Fascinate (Verizon Galaxy S) apparently had lots of problems, and they kept getting replaced until the Droid Charge came out, when Verizon just started giving out Charges to replace Fascinates.
The Charge had some problems too, and if you got enough bad ones from them, they even started handing out the Bionic, Rezound, and Razr too (phones that came out later with much higher specs). I even bricked my Charge and they just gave me a new one.

They had to post something. The basically are going to be releasing with the third world, lol. Its ALWAYS something with them. They did their best to wreck the galaxy nexus, they were in on the Carrier IQ scandal, they have to plaster their dated logo on everything, and they sell pretty much the most bloated phones in existence. Yes, they have a good network, but frankly, I live in DFW...all the carriers have good networks here. It's flat, populated and affluent.
I have an upgrade, but their delay conveniently puts me within a month of my contract ending. My wife gets a ~25% discount through work, but I can get 15% on T-Mobile, and with the massive price difference, it actually makes T-mobile a better deal. I may even pickup up a used N4, get the $30 walmart plan thing, and wait for the Note III.
I guess as someone that pays attention and is tired of getting screwed and treated like an idiot sheep, I am just not their target market.

I don't know exactly which options you're choosing, but if you do the math I suspect you'll find that T-Mobile isn't the better deal. I've been doing research recently for an upgrade myself, and I found that corporate discounts actually significantly narrow the gap between T-Mobile and Verizon. Reason is because with T-Mobile ditching subsidies but lowering the monthly bill, the value of a discount on that smaller monthly bill is proportionately less. If you factor in the fact that a full price GS4 on T-Mobile is $630 vs $200 for Verizon, Verizon might actually come out ahead over the course of 2 years.

If he used like 1GB a month sure it would cost less, but Verizon's network has really gone down the drain in the bigger citys. May as well have sprint 3G at times it get's so bad. Now if you live in bum ville sure Verzion win's. But he live's in the city so data speeds will be better on T-moblie.
Also no unlimited data any more with verizon and those like me that still have it get throttled.

It's not throttled. When the network isn't congested (as you say, places like NYC during the day are crap) I still get great speeds.
I know the 6P won't be sold through the carriers, at least not right away. I'm a Tmo subscriber and I was a little disappointed at first but buying the phone and paying for it in full is always the best route.
With that being said are you with Tmo? What area of the country are you in? Having issues or are new services going live? Questions about service with past or the new nexus device? Let's keep each other updated with what's going on with our carrier.
I've had just about every nexus phone while on Tmo. I had spotty service for awhile but over the years service has gotten much better for me in the Orlando area. This past year I've seen almost all the 3g towers turn into LTE. I got to use HD voice for the first time on my nexus 6. VOLTE got turned on. Band 12 going live (although not in my area, I've used it in other FL markets) Going forward to the 6P are we going lose some of these? I've already seen a report that band 12 will not be unlocked at launch for our device. Will volte be available? HD voice? None of these are deal breakers but it would suck to have such a cutting edge device yet it can't access some basic phone functions. What are your thoughts/insight?

I'm not a fan of jump either however not everyone can afford the full price, some people are fortunate to be able to.
I guess it's kinda like leasing your car but of course a way lower price.
I love buying unlocked phones and now that tmobiles prices are so low it really works out
Even with the jump program you are paying full price for the phone. It just gives you the option to trade in without worrying about negative equity, like a car. But I guarantee you the first time you buy a new car cash you'll set yourself up for life to never have a car payment again, this is so much easier to do with a phone... So much easier.

I think most people who get the jump program get it because they can't afford to pay the full price up front, even if they are paying the same in the end or maybe sometimes you pay more for a device when you could've gotten an unlocked device (same or better) for cheaper
I actually began my Nexus 6 purchase through finance. I figured hey, it's 0% who cares. I started to think of bills and life from a more DTI based perspective vs my older, borrow at low or no interest and invest to get more mindset.
Once you start paying off everything with a payment (no matter how low the interest) you start to have so much excess cash monthly that you realize WTF you've been doing wrong your whole life. It also makes it a lot easier to save and invest.
Anyway back on topic, I don't think carriers will be getting the 6P. But if anyone did, it would probably be T-Mobile

Since the thing will not be supporting band 12 on t-mobile, at least not right away, I'd think not.
Edit: Hah! Soon!
https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/3mzygu/google_nexus_team_ama_working_to_get_band_12/
Why pay full price for the phone? I have the original Jump program. So i pay $27/Month. In one year I paid $324 and traded the phone in for the next Nexus. I didnt have to shell out the full $650. I dont know but it works fine for me. Only phone i care about are the nexus devices. Its a Big deal when i can simply walk into the store hand them my old phone keep all my Chargers and accessories and walk out with a new phone paying only taxes..
I just pre-ordered one and I feel that Jump may not offer a good deal. I've been hearing a lot about Google Fi so that does seem like a better option overall. Also, you would lose out on the $50 play credit and three months of free Google Play Music unless you get it before Oct 25. I'll be using mine for T-Mobile and I'd only hold on ordering to look over reviews, but it's a Nexus device so it should be pretty solid. I agree with many in here that not everyone can pay full price, but with Jump you are still paying quite a bit of money. It's just better to buy it up front then sell the old phone after.
One of the things mentioned in the Reddit AMA today was they're attempting to work with TMobile on getting the Band 12 turned on prior to the device getting to everyone. So at least they're acknowledging the issue.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk
They're not selling the Nexus 6P in U.S. carrier stores... So we don't have the option to use Jump! or Jump! On Demand. I have a Galaxy S6 on Jump! On Demand that I'm a few months into... I purchased a 6P outright and will use 1 of my 3 upgrades w/ T-Moible to go w/ something else, and not pay a dime at the store. I switch phones a TON so for me Jump! On Demand is awesome. I will say though, once I am done with this current EIP, I will try to stay with unlocked phones and just pay outright for them. My monthly bill will be a lot cheaper.
As far as the band 12 support; if they get it fixed by ship date, great. If not, oh well... I don't have access to band 12 where I am (Columbus, Ohio), so I'm not missing anything if they don't have it fixed. I'm sure when/if it gets activated here this will be fixed.
In the Reddit AMA;
They ignored every question about why they are not selling through US Carriers. This was the most commonly asked question.
I'm like thinking, that's one of the most important questions, why will this not be sold in U.S. Carrier stores ? Especially T-Mobile stores, as they have carried and stocked every single Nexus phone the past six years. I could see Verizon or ATT not selling it, but T-Mobile has been a big supporter of the Nexus phones, as far as carriers go.
So the Nexus 6P will be nowhere to be seen or played with in stores, you just have to hope you think you'll like it and order it online only ? That's crazy. I always want to hold it in hand, mess around it with it for 30 minutes in the store, really get a feel for the phone, before deciding.

I'm sure that They will be available at some point. Google has given exclusivity for the first couple months before, this time it's to themselves. Maybe they want to get the preorders out without a disaster like previous releases. On the bright side we get great pricing compared to the rest of the world

Yeah, Rumor is they could offer them in stores later this month to avoid the instant rush of phone orders. They sell direct first then allow carries to carry a few models if wanted.
That Reddit AMA was filled with tons of questions asking about U.S. Carrier availability, and they didn't respond once.
Wonder if that got them thinking, hey maybe we should put this out to T-Mobile and other carriers maybe ? I could see that happening after the rush of Play Store orders, and be in stores come December. I bet T-Mobile at least carries it by Christmas, just my guess.

I'm wondering if part of the reason is so they can say see how many devices we sold without you, you're not getting customized builds this time.
If they announce carrier availability it would just eat into their own direct sales.
I'd be shocked if this doesn't ultimately get on carriers in a quarter or so.
I'm still upset no Nexus 6P at U.S. Carrier stores, especially T-Mobile.
And I call BS on Google's excuse, that they want full control and no carrier slow downs no carrier involvement mucking things up.
Apple
Carriers don't get in the way of Apple and iOS updates. A Verizon or ATT iPhone 6S get's updated straight from Apple, you don't see Verizon users waiting longer for the iOS update, than an international iPhone user, or Apple having to give the update to ATT first and then let them, hand out the update later to it's customers.
Nope, if you have a Sprint, or T-Mobile, or Verizon iPhone, you just go to iTunes or Apple for the update, and they have the update available at the exact the same time, no matter which carrier phone you own.
My point is, carriers aren't in the way whatsoever, and Apple sells a **** ton of iPhone's through these carriers. How many sales of iPhone's are done directly through the Apple store and site only, like Google wants people to buy the Nexus 6P through the Play Store only ?
Google should sell the Nexus 6P at U.S. Carrier stores, and not give the BS excuse it's because of updates or some crap.
