I did a full restore on my SGA. Then I did a root. As to keep all my apps, I used Appmonster to backup and restore my apps. Problem is now, all my apps are gone from the market list, thus I cannot update my applications. Any ideas on how to fix this?
That's weird. After restoring the apps they should reappear in Market. I haven't used Appmonster, but I use Titanium all the time for this purpose and it always work.
Have you tried installing something new? Maybe the list in market wasn't refreshed properly?

Try to install Titanium Backup from Market. There is option in menu to FIX market links to apps. Its worked for me! Try it and let me know if it worked.

I tried this exactly. and it said "Market Doctor has found no recoverable market link".
I think the reason for this is, appmonster, when it recovered my apps installed them from backup apk files it placed on my sd card. And as such the market had no idea they were being installed. but I was half expecting from posts for market to remember which apps I previously installed - only to find it remembered none.
This is such a hassle not being bale to update any of my apps. All regret
The only reason I used appmonster was because I was not yet rooted at the time.

If you see your apps in Titanium B.., try to back up them in Titanium B.. Then try to restore them with Titanium again and after that, try MARKET DOCTOR. I dont know is it helping, but you can try it. It want cost you nothing. If it not helping then... NO IDEAS from me right now!
I tried fiddling with titanium backup. I haven't gotten it to fix my market links.
But i did find a solution!
All i did was force stop the market application from the settings and cleared it's data. once i reset the Market and accept the terms. All my apps are back! YEHEY!

I have just recently downloaded Titanium Backup in order to save my apps because I want to try new ROMs that say to do full wipes including EXT wipes. I was just curious what the proper way to use the program to restore apps was. Also, if Titanium Backup saves to your sd card and you do an EXT wipe, won't that delete all of your saved data? How does it restore? I hope this question isnt on the forum somewhere, I tried searching and couldnt quite find the answer i was looking for.
Thanks for the help. You guys on here have been lifesavers.
Hi,
Okay so first Titanium backup will back up your system settings and your applications and does a fine job at it too! When you wipe your Ext2/3/4 partition all your doing is cleaning off any data held in it. This does not effect your fat 32 partition which is where all your stuff is (pictures, albums, films, ringtones etc) I haven't deleted my fat32 partition ever as this never needs touching really. Apps2sd runs from your Ext partiton so wiping will kill all your apps but this is where Titanium comes in and as it saves to the fat32 partition you have no worries wiping. Also suggest backing up on a PC, I do once a week and saved me a few headaches
Open Titanium and hit menu, then batch. This will bring up a list of options to 'Run' backup or restore. I would strongly suggest also to donate $3.99 for the paid version with the hyper shell.
Anything else you need help with?
Nope. Thanks man. I just needed a few things cleared up before I went ahead and wiped my ext. You were a great help.
No problem, glad to have helped
you say it saves system settings...
so i have about 30 ringtones set to specific contacts, if i wipe/flash a new rom.
restore using titanium backup. Will all those ringtones be set back to the proper contacts automatically with TTB? cuz its a pain in the *** setting them each new rom
i tried mybackup pro a long time ago and it didn't do this which is why i don't waste my time with that app. (that may be changed now, it's been about 8 months)
would I be able to Restore my backup if I have flashed a new rom without problems?
I'm having problems with Titanium Backup. I made backup of a lot of apps before flashing some new stuff to my Galaxy S, but now when I try to restore them it just gets stuck. At first there's that little window saying restoring, but that disappears and it seems like everything is fine. However, when I try to restore next app it just says that a process is already running and it stays that way until I kill it via Autokiller. The app gets installed so that's fine, but the problem is that I would really like to just run a batch-operation and not have to kill the Titanium-process for every app i have back-up of...
Any solutions good people of XDA?
check at the new version, it has an alternative restore mode that you need to enable for it to work on the galaxy s
Another restore question
I installed Titanium backup on my Galaxy S Captivate yesterday, did a batch backup of "all user apps + System Data" in the list it showed the bloatware ATT apps which I wanted to uninstall but with the option of reinstalling them if I ever needed to bring the phone back to ATT.
I did a test uninstall of one of the market apps and then did a restore and it worked fine. Then I tried to un installed one of the ATT apps, which worked but when I tried to restore it by clicking on the crossed out app at the bottom of the list, there is no option to restore it, just delete.
Did I do something wrong with the backup or am I not restoring it properly? my test worked fine so I thought I had it figured out but obviously I am doing something wrong.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks!
Similar problem with no luck at reinstalling Att apps. I accidently deleted google talk and now cannot download new apps.
I have a similar question to the OP.
If I use the Master Clear or whatever is called to restore my phone to stock...that is supposed to delete the internal SD Card so, if I were to copy the Titanium Back Up folder to my PC then copy it back to the SD card after the clearing is done...would that be enough to restore all the games and apps?
I have titanium backup stored in sdcard, this backup is settings/wallpaper, is possible to extract from this file only wallpaper, without restoring all backup to the phone??
My news app/widget not working on MY HTC DHD even after several reboot/restart. So I decided to back up the apps and widget trough titanium backup and uninstall the app+widget. After reinstalling the apps/widget. the news app is working again but the widget, I cant find it in widget menus when I tried to add it to home screen.
Any help appreciated.
Thx

Also have a question about this program
It's restores my apps great. Very happy about it. But when you have installed ur apps back.
When I go to the android market they are not listed in my apps.
Though when i go and look for the app in the store it says installed. Yet can't check the allow automatic update checkbox.
Hope I make sense???
So I can't update it basically???Or when there is an update it will show up in my apps ???
My SD card was fried last night... everything gone. Good thing I backed up everything onto my laptop last week. Got a new SD card and copied everything over from the laptop. When I go into TB app, it doesnt show what I copied over. SHows I have no apps in memory... I made sure to copy everything into the "Titanium Backup" folder in my SD card. This happened to me as well. Go into the "more" option thru Titanium and select the Market Doctor. This should link your apps back up with the Market. Also, sometimes simply installing an app thru the Market and/or a reboot will get my installed apps to show up properly.
OK thanks. Will try it out.

Hope that worked, but just in case, there's another way. Once in Titanium, click backup/restore, and then scroll to your desired app. Long press the app and then click the option to "attach to market (forced)."
Market Doctor - Amazon Market
I installed a new ROM and restored my apps with TiBu. I was having some syncing problems in the Android Market so I ran Market Doctor. The problem is that I did not know to de-select the Amazon sourced apps so 47 of them got linked to the Android Market. I have since manually de-linked (long press) each of those apps solving most of the problem but they still show up in the Market list but under the 'Not Installed' section at the bottom. Is there a way to permanently break the link? I am concerned about having to deal with it in the future. Maybe re-run Market Doctor following the proper de-select process?
I just recieved my OTA update. My phone was completely factory with the exception of root access. Not sure if there is a known problem (could not find it by searching), but I have noticed, that Titanium Backup is having trouble backing up the market links for apps now.
I have a few apps that are showing in my downloads, that I can not get from a plain old smiley, to an "m" over the smiley (in my Backup/Restore tab). All were downloaded from the market (although angry birds was originally d/l from getjar, then re-d/l from market after OTA). I am running version 3.5.5 TB, and in the overview it shows that everything is fine, busybox from app 1.16.0, SQLite 3.7.2 included. I have tried to "Attach to Market (forced)", but it just wont take. Any tips, or others with this issue after the OTA?

Hm........no. I wouldn't say better, just different.
Its definitely a hellava lot quicker though & I've used it rather than Titanium many times, never with bad results (it always worked), so I can't speak bad of it, but it's hardly in the same league as Titanium for this type of thing though.

I have rom manager as well, but my understanding is that rom manager is like a restore point in windows. It brings you back to a previous state, before you had issues. Titanium Backup on the other hand backs up your System Data (contacts, texts, etc), user installed apps with their data, and then allows you to move these across rom changes. That is why I puchased Ti Backup, so I can test some roms in the future.
If I use my Rom Manager backup, to revert to before the OTA, and try to start over, will I recieve the OTA update again?
Try clearing the market app data....not just the cache. Then reboot and sign back into the market and accept the terms. In my case I had to click uninstall updates for the market app which worked for me when I ran into this same problem with titanium backup. I did not receive the ota....happened on its own somehow the market database (assets.db) became corrupt.

**DUMMY PROOF INSTRUCTIONS!**
If you already have launcher pro:
1) goto your homescreen.
2) menu key, add.
3) hit shortcuts and then activities.
4) scroll down to device management
5) select "com.wssyncmldm.wssAppDmUiMain" and hit ok
6) this will put a shortcut on your homescreen that will say device management with blue and red arrows.
7) open that shortcut up and hit software update.
if you don't have launcher pro or don't know what it is.
1) goto the market.
2) search "Launcher Pro" or "Federico Carnales"
3) look for a yellow icon with a house on it.
4) install that.
5) once installed hit your homekey. select launcherpro but don't select use as default until you fall in love with launcherpro ;]
6) then, follow the steps above
Thanks to connnn for this info....

I may be missing something, but I only see an option to clear the cache for this. Some of the installed apps show an option for clearing the data, but that is not shown for the Market. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place, or a change for JI6??
Looking in settings-->manage applications-->(Filter to all)-->Market
Mine says uninstall updates and not clear data but it does the same thing. Or select wipe data from within titanium backup for the market app. That might work too.
I was trying to do a restore with Titanium Backup to restore apps and data and everything in the batch list is greyed out with a line through it.. what gives?? So, I am unable to restore any apps. I am using the pro version, so I don't see what I paid for.
Can someone enlighten me on this. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to download something else?
thanks.
I believe you have to install the app first, idk but i did that with skype and got my data back

Greyed out with a line through them items are the apps that are not currently installed.
If you click on them, it should give you an option to restore, providing that you have backed them up before, of course.
Also, in batch mode, you can restore them all -or chosen ones- at once.
Did you expect to just open the app and your phone go back to the way it was before?
i have the same problem
it restored just few of them automatically
i believe i have to manually install the rest and then restore just the data
but isn't that stupid?
Has anyone found a way around that?
the developer said something about fixing the market link with market doctor option, but that's in the paid version
I spoke to the dev about it actually and he said there seems to be an error with my TBU, so I need to re-install and erase the backup folder and try and backup everything again and verify. I had to redo everything manually.
Thanks for the help though guys. I appreciate it..
I actually just removed TimeScape and a bunch of other useless (to me) stock apps. I did notice as well when I clicked on a greyed-out item that I had uninstalled, there was no restore button.
So I would have to manually restore everything I had backed up, delete the folder, and reinstall?
Hardly seems worth it. I would just reflash if/when I have to restore.
Is there any way to restore all applications with "one click restore"?
I'm getting tired of pressing accept-done for every applications.

I am moving from a TB to the GIII, and am seeing the same issue. Only my installed apps are greyed out. I've copied a new one over, put the card in the other phone backed up and no change. Pretty strange. Time for a little googling...
I went from Eclair 2.1 to Axura 2.2.5.7 and can't be happier with my phone. However, I have noticed that when Titanium backup restored the apps and data, it broke some apps' link with the market. This lead to not being able to get updates on those apps from market. When I go to market, it does NOT show me having an application marked as installed when its on the phone and was restored by Titanium backup. I may be wrong but this is what I conclude.
Is it true that Titanium will break some of the restored apps' links to the market and you wont get notification that there is an update waiting.
If I am right, what could be a possible solution?
Thanks
It happened to me before what I did was clean the cache of the market and then run titanium backup Market Doctor and then it worked like a charm. I hope that helps you.

I regularly clear cache using 'Cache Mate'. Is 'Titanium backup market doctor' an app? How exactly did you do it?
open titanium > press menu button ( the one next to the home button )
Clearing the cache from Settings -> Applications didn't work for me (the Market Doctor didn't find any recoverable links), so I tried clearing the cache for Market in Titanium Backup (select the Backup/Restore tab and find Market in the list; tapping the entry will give you an option to Wipe Data). Once wiped, I ran the Market Doctor again which was able to re-attach the missing applications.

Awesome. Thank you
When i use Titanium backup it messes up my apps. I cant update or download some apps in the market even after trying all the fix methods. It sucks but anytime i use a new ROM i unfortunately end up reinstalling each app one by one to keep from having any market issues.

Do you mean install them one by one with Titanium Backup, or through market?
You can use a batch installation to restore a large amount of apps at once (I do not suggest ALL at once). You can create a flashable update.zip to restore a bunch of apps at once.
You can also reinstall any apps that you want individually and either run the Market Doctor or if long press on the app (within TB) a pop-up menu will, guess what? Pop-up. In there are options to attach/detach from market. This works well also if you don't want an app to be "seen" by the market, such as an update that you are sick of seeing in the market that you aren't going to update or "bootleg" apps that you might have got on-line somewhere.

what this guy said
Well actually Market Doctor is not working, for some reason, my market database is messed up and I can't see any apps under "my apps" in the market. Titanium Backup doesn't help, I have reinstalled the rom about 4 times already and I have tried everything
Same problem for me.
If I install a new ROM after a full wipe, everything is OK with the market, I can find all my previously downloaded free apps and paid apps under the tab "my apps"
If I use Titanium, pro version, to restore my user apps (and ONLY my apps and games, no system apps, just what I had downloaded from the market!), it leads to the following result:
If I look for an app I've bought, I can find it and download/update it, no problem
But if I go to my installed apps, I just have a white screen with this:
" myemail@gmail.com
Associated games and apps for this account are here "

Under this, I have two boxes: "Browse apps" and "browse games". Clicking on one of them just brings me back to the Marjet main menu!!!
Tried this twice today, twice I full-wiped and reinstalled my ROM, twice the market was perfectly working and then was brocken after using Titanium to restore my apps and games
Cleaning market datas (even from Titanium) cleaning cache, fixing permissions in the recovery, using market Doctor or forcing an app to be linked to the market with titanium, nothing helps!
As I have about 100 games and apps, it will take some time to try restoring them individually and verify that the market is not broken between each
Any hint appreciated !!!!!
You can do a batch restore and restore a.....batch of apps.
If you want stability in that area( i dont, im app free just10, stay with one rom and download from market for a clean install. Too much confusion for titinium titty. conflicting permissions. Hey rube, still p.c. free
Nope I got a new one an it is loaded with all the goodies. Just need an apk decompiler and I might start cooking some themes. Lost my old pc and all the stuff on HD I hadn't backed up yet.

Does it say which app it's trying to back up when it hangs on 2%? I've found that some apps don't play well with TiBu, especially when I'm trying to restore the app. Maybe you can exclude that app from the backup run.

I dnt know about the backing up issue but I can tell you when restoring apps and your having problems and ill asume its when restoring app/data cuz thats what I had problems with. When I try to restore both it hangs. If you just reinstall the app for playstore or the apk from wherever you got it from then use tb to restore just data ...That works everytime.
Maybe for backing apps and data up maybe do one at a time. It may take longer but youll get them backed.
