So there are a lot of different ROM's out there...official, unofficial, hacks, etc. on every thread.
Does anybody want to compile a list/chart of what versions are floating around and what versions their Himalayas are running( have run, if you've upgraded) and does it work for them? Maybe we can eventually get a db together with all the different ones out there to share. I have a few( none applied though).

Hey hachepe, since you have the original ROMs still, could you backup them up off of your device, (OS, Radio, Ext, etc..). I'm thinking of downgrading.... (here some links on how, though I've never done it)

I went from the official Imate rom that came with it to the official 1.52 version. Unit is faster, NO BATTERY PROBLEMS, or low signal problems, fixes for the (+) problem in the inbox program , msn messenger update , mms fix , Bluetooth profile fix for BT headset, much better signal, quick radio off mode. No issues VERY glad I updated.

Qtek 2020, went from an old US rom to the Tmobile 1.60 then to the new Qtek Rom from Dangaard after struggeling with the country id error:

Can we have more detail about this?
MDA II, upgraded the original German ROM (don't know the version number, I think 1.30) to the T-Mobile 1.60 NL (non official version). MDA is now in English, can't compare since I upgraded immediatly after purchase. Waiting with the Dangaard 1.60 upgrade.

You hit the point! Every retailer has to provide support for Qtek?
This is totally unfair. However, to be honest, Dangaard people is allowing the download of Qtek specific ROM without much of a question... for now.
I accepted an exchange from i-mate to Qtek, because my seller (Expansys) was sold out on I-mate, and claimed the device was the same (it is in fact) but no statement was made about support.

Fortunately no problems about country ID, although I'm dealing with some minor bugs:¿Maybe another data base on ROM version specific problems?
1.- T-mobile 1.60, looks much faster than my Qtek original one (phone being the best part) although some minor bugs are there, some old, some new.
2.- I had to hard reset the machine more often to get rid of some bugs, the most annoying being The menu text font changing itself to white without apparent reason. Depending of your background theme, it becomes unreadable (T-mobile theme for instance) Seems related to trying new themes.
3.- PC message about USB port unrecognized.
4.- Refusal to sync notes. (This is my most recent one)
5.- My recurrent and permanent bug: week view on calendar (7 days, monday first) if today happens to be Sunday, every tap on the "go to today" button takes me to the NEXT week. Can anyone confirm this is PPC 2003 or XDAII/ROM specific? (Just change the date to the next sunday and tell me please)
6.- Both Brightness settings set themselves to ZERO, while working on the PDA. This is an awfull one, I thought I've lost my XDAII backlight! Until I found my way to the menu and settings, I wasn't able to recover the backlight. Try to do that on a poor light environment WITHOUT any backlight, (blaming the manufacturer and guessing who would fix it altogether) and you'll know what I'm talking about.

4. Works fine here.

Major problem with Qtek 1.60.21 (original 1.60.21 ExtRom). XDA2 will soft reset when a wav file is opened via file explorer. In one occassion it froze completely and cannot be revived by soft reset. Only after hard reset and removing the battery the XDA came back (for a while the PDA did'nt respond even to hard resets).
After extended ROM was re-flashed using moded custom Tmobile/O2 extrom, the wav file problem disappeared. Plus I was able to get the SPB GPRS monitor and my precious O2 bubbles.
PS: I used RPC's hexediting method to modify Thariman's custom ms_.nbf
and the GPRS "auto off"?
I had the original O2 1.03 and upgraded to Tmobile 1.6
Now the GPRS turns itself off after every use. very annoying.
I understand different versions have this set differently,
or anyone knows a reg key?!

There is an update for Qtek 2020 in French, you can install it, new Rom version is :
1.58.00FRA
This add the bugfix for bluetooth, the OS is more stable.

Just moved to Dangaard ROM. Seems to go far better, although bugs seem to be the "essence" of XDA Software.
BTW with item 5, would you mind set for a moment Regional language to Spanish (Traditional sort) and make a try on the "sunday" bug. I've been unable to get rid of this, and it's my 3th ROM! My last shot is this is related to Language. (Note: week view on calendar, 7 days week, monday first, and today is Sunday... tap takes you to Monday next week!

@5n0rk: no, only useful to downgrade from 1.06, but 1.09 can't be downgraded, once you flash it it stays forever.

If I understand it correctly, if you have SuperCID then you can flash any Rom regardless of the boot loader being 1.09, correct?
How new is this? The original Rom was 1.20.161.3 but had the same Rom date, the same Radio version and the same Protocol version. Do you know what's different in it? Has this been posted by Vodafone somewhere?
The security policy is different on this ROM, using the new security powertoy you can see that the SL & SI policys has changed. This handles things like pop up notifications of Voicemail and security policy updates from Exchange or SMS.

Hey... Does anyone know how to enable that? the voice mail notification?
MSN stuff seems to be missing from this ROM....back to the HTC for me!
I have the current Vodafone UK rom etc. but am still having problems with calls being dropped, bluetooth spontaneously switching off and no voice when answering calls (keep pressing answer button and cycle through Hold and back to call usually works - but caller often hangs up by then).
Is there a more up to date Vodafone update in the pipeline, or can I safely use another? If so, which?

This is my rom.....a bad rom
I have this rom, I work all, very good, but slowly, I Changue and I prove the cingular Rom, and don´t work the bbc, and bluetooth, and videoconference.
With this rom, all work fine but slow, I need put again this room original vodafone, for work all.

Hungarian ROM in the UK
Bought my vario 2 on e-bay and it did not come with a CD I have called up T-mobile and they wont give me one. When I switch on my phone it says "test only not for sale"...I basically looking to reinstall the t-mobile uk rom hoping that it will removed this message but can not find it anywhere. Is this Hungarian ROM going to work on a uk phone ? Are the GPRS & 3G settings the same ?
I am clueless any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you got a preproduction hermes version with a super cid and 300mhz processor...just look in the hermes wifi in preproduction section...and you will get all of ur answer....

Very interesting. The very first T-Mobile Hungary ROM that has ever hit the internets.
(T-Mo Hu never releases ROMs... if you want an upgrade, you have to take it to the service and let them do it... they still sell their Wizards with AKU 1.1.1 ROMs)
Update works
Updated my Dutch T-Mobile MDA Vario II (2).
Took some time, first made Super CID and SIM lock free.
After upgrade the regional settings are indeed Hungarian but the ROM itself is English.

I've just updated my (I think is the right term) rom using
RUU_HERMES_HTC_WWE_1[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP.
Now the installation was fine but some of the original setting on the t-mobile rom are missing, like the quick launch 'running program' button on the screen, the 3g connection symbol as well as a few quick launch icon that use to be at the top of the main screen ' web & walk , contacts, notes. These have all disappeared, is there a way of getting the t-mobile vario 2 setting back or at least a way of configuring the keys to how it was with t-mobile. I think what i've currently got is the HTC original rom hence the HTC logo when I now turn the phone on.

BT A2DP issues
Hi, I installed WWE europe over the weekend but I seem to have a problem with the BT audio streaming.
I use a FM Parrot PMK5800 handsfree car kit to stream my music to my car radio. This has been working fine for the past years with other WM phones. However the music from the HTC Touch 2 is very noisy and blurry. I tried HTC and WMP players and both give same distortions. I also noticed that increasing the volume using either player volume or HTC volume control does not get through to my car radio while connected through my Parrot.
using the Touch 2 "offline" works fine for the player volume control and there is no noticable noise also.
Is this HTC Touch 2 BT error !?
Or can it be ROM specific?
anybody any ideas?

have a touch 2 (UK phone). has T mobile branded ROM but have O2 sim now. although fone accepts O2 sim, the preconfigured GPRS settings are t mobile so cannot connect to 02. downloaded europe ROM to reflash but will not load. gives error 294 invalid vendor ID. Also tried the RUU zip file i found. that dont work either.
Any advice?. Love HTC phones. Bought touch 2 when my TYTN II died :-(. paid £230 for a a phone i cannot access internet on. Gutted.
Someone help or i'll have to sell the phone (new out of box) and be forced to use a motorola. Please dont do that to me!

have a touch 2 (UK phone). has T mobile branded ROM but have O2 sim now. although fone accepts O2 sim, the preconfigured GPRS settings are t mobile so cannot connect to 02. downloaded europe ROM to reflash but will not load. gives error 294 invalid vendor ID. Also tried the RUU zip file i found. that dont work either.
Any advice?. Love HTC phones. Bought touch 2 when my TYTN II died :-(. paid £230 for a a phone i cannot access internet on. Gutted.
Someone help or i'll have to sell the phone (new out of box) and be forced to use a motorola. Please dont do that to me!

got the same issue, desparate for a fix. huge pain as this was a replacement phone and i cant afford another. hopefully someone can help

Guys, you cant put any original HTC ROM on your branded phones, cause service providers take the phones from HTC and make changes to the ROM, which is currently locked, i mailed HTC and they said for updates or new ROMs contact your service provider.

i got touch2 special version today (no gps no 3g). the rom vs is 1.32.1300.2
dated 12/16/09 and radio 3.50.25.15.

Hi there, I've read tons of information and I'm still confused what to do... Please guys I'm desperate to fix that phone
I've htc mozart 7 in following configuration:
os ver: 7.10.8862.144
fw: 2250.21.51205.707
bootloader: 5.12.2550.5
The only language i can choose now is English (greyed out) which for me is fine but the thing is the phone is gonna be for my mum hence I need to have PL (polish) language in it. I'd like to flash it with stock European rom (I found out i need something with 401 in the rom file name) i guess currently i can not do that as my one is 707 (asia market). So what do I do? I want to permanently change the region for HTC europe (401) so it's not gonna change during connecting to zune or whatever.
Is my way of thinking correct? - To flash different region rom i need to have HSPL -> to do that I have to downgrade the bootloader as current one 5.12 does not allow for using HSLP tool which only supports booloaders from 1.xx -3xx -> to do that the only way to downgrade is GoldCard method. -> for goldcard downgrading i need to have asian rom (707) RUU_Mozart_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.28.707.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50_RELEASE.exe . After all of this and having HSPL, am I free to use an official newest HTC europe update ???? let's say this file: RUU_Mozart_S_HTC_Europe_5.13.401.01_5.71.09.02a_22.51.50_RELEASE.rar ???
