Hello,
When my phone boot the Samsung sound plays itself and a video of my service provider too. (swisscom)
I want to change those or at least get rid of them.
I saw a topic who said that the sound was in system/etc/poweron.ogg
Well... I found it and renamed it but no changes for the sound, so I guess it was the wrong file.
Somebody has an idea ?
Best regards,
rXp>!<

Hi members,
I know that there are ways to change the boot-animation, but I after I saw the complete Google Nexus boot up I liked It pretty much.
I already got the Nexus animation boot-up but I also want to replace the "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100" logo for the Nexus "Google" logo.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.
Just swap the boot logo png, it's in the same folder as the boot animation (system/media I THINK)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

I don't quite understand you jje, theme section on XDA or do I need to find a theme section on my phone?
First one
bootanimation.zip
Of course youre phone needs to be rooted.
Then you take youre bootanimation, often "Bootanimation.zip"
Use for example "Root Explorer" app, that have superuser rights to
youre phone system. "R.E" is like "Windows Explorer" for rooted phones
When you use "R.E" to be able to copy and paste systemfiles, you need to
"Mount RW", Read-Write.
Copy the Bootanimation.zip, and paste it in youre phones filesystem,
/data/local/bootanimation.zip
A good indication youre in right folder, is that some "temp" file is also there.
Reboot phone, and voila!
Good luck man
PS!
A very good post is here

Thank you
I will keep this post updated and tell you guys if it worked or not.
from my experience you have to use a non stock kernel as stock kernels dont allow you to change the boot animation .. I may be wrong?
I am already using a costum kernel as you need to have a rooted device to actually change the boot-logo.
Btw, it works like a charm.
Thanks for the help you guys.

Make sure you have a kernel that supports custom boot animations such as siyah kernel.

How to change boot animation? The easy way:
1. Download any custom CWM flashable boot animation zip here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410490&highlight=bootanimation
2. Boot to CWM recovery
3. Flash the boot animation zip you downloaded in 1. Just like normal zip
4. Reboot phone
Done.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Well like said in the post above^ flash as zip, or you place the zip in system/media and if it didn't work then try putting it in data/local

Are you sure that you have a custom kernel? In any case, I advise you to backup the bootanimation file, not delete it.
You just need to add the .bak extension to the original file. For example: bootanimation.zip.bak or in your case samsung.qmg.bak
Copy the new file into system/media or data/local as has been indicated by the other users

Bumping in less that 3 hrs ? Very bad. Do not do that again. This is hardly critical to the operation of your phone. When you make a thread, you wait patiently for a response.
Edit - Given you've been here 6 yrs, you should know a lot better. Bit hard to expect n00bs to do the right thing when people who have been here ages don't.
Convert your .mp3 to .ogg, rename to PowerOn.ogg and move to system/media/audio/ui/.

But with me dont work. I'm using CyanogenMod 10.1.
I'm using Beanstalk ROM on my phone and I cannot set the bootsound to work. I changed the boot animation and followed the instructions with patching bootsound.sh script via Terminal Emulator, but it didn't work as well. I originally didn't have PowerOn.ogg or PowerOff.ogg sounds, also the original animation in this ROM was silent... I thought the script method will work for me, as it's CM-based ROM. Has enyone solved this issue? Sadly I cannot write the question in Beanstalk thread yet.
I have a Galaxy S3 Italian with root and cwm, but no modified kernel.

So isn't there a metod to cange bootanimation without change kernel? Is it?
Search general for "qmg". There's a "how to" there. It's quite complex though but it needs no special kernel. It replaces the system bootanimation.
The other option is to flash a custom rom (Can still be touchwiz based) that uses /data/media.
That last option is easiest as you can use existing bootanimation.zip files rather than having to manufacture your own QMG files.
