Nice write up. They usually do a nice job with their reviews. I was hoping to pick this up a BB but my local store won't have them until the 10/12

The AT&T stores will most likely have most of the phones compared to a Best Buy, but if I hadn't pre-ordered mine, I would go to the store that opened up first.

That same guy from the AC forums said so. My receipt for my pre-order says I can pick up mine up on 9/25/11 & total cost $649.99. Lot of errors right there.

I like the review. Glad its not so iPhone biased like Engadget normally does their reviews.
They are lying their asses off though when it comes to battery life being phenomenal. I'd always trust Anandtech review's more for battery life testing which rates it at good for screen-on time but not "AMAZING" the way Engadget is making it out to be...
This is my 8th Android and ive had all iPhone generations and I can honestly say that for the screen size and power that this phone packs, it does have awesome battery life. The best ive ever seen in Android. I text all day, surf web, talk, email, facebook, write and read lots of emails, read xda, etc.. and past 3 days it has lasted me thru my 8-10 hour shift with about 20-25% left to spare as I get home.
This battery life is just as good, if not better, than the iPhone 4 mho

For those keeping count, that's more than twice the pixel count of any previous tablets, which top out at 1,280x800 (1.02 millions pixels). No release date but I think its worth the wait.

It's kinda ironic though that the Transformers are the best software-supported tablets out there. Constant updates and usually among the first to get the latest.

at what point will you actually stop and buy?
TF700 is slated Q2 which if normal release cycles are anything to go by will be the back end of that quarter and that will be provided there are no delays. they have to be able to produce a 600+ nits screen that can do full HD on mass production levels and hope they don't encounter any other problems.
then you have have whether or not ICS will cope with a full HD screen on normal day to day use, will apps? will ICS need tweaking to work properly? will tegra 3 be able to handle full HD res without dragging its ass like a dog.
I'm buying the prime now, with a weather eye on the TF700 down the line. no reason to deny myself in the meantime. play with the prime. sell it six to seven months down the line and get the newer model sounds like a plan to me.

I was thinking the same thing. The people saying they canceled their preorders or returned the Prime b/c it's a "POS" but are waiting for the next Asus tablet really amuse me.

I don't need GPS on a tablet, I've got a phone.
I really like the aluminum.

HTC EVO 4G LTE is actually a time travel device
You can imagine my excitement when I opened an email from Sprint saying they shipped my New EVO. But upon scanning the email, I became elated after discovering that I received my New EVO 4g LTE 2 weeks ago. I guess I have been enjoying it while all you slack jaws have been waiting.....if only I could remember it.
The estimated date for delivery in the email was 05/08/2012.
Maybe the wife took it.....curses!!!!!

Mmmm, chicken wings. Sadly, the back seemed to finger print pretty easily. But I looked at the front side most of the time, so it wasn't a big problem.

I used WiFi most of the time. I didn't think to compare network speeds with my old school evo. Hopefully the reports are true!
My expected time is 11:15 AM tomorrow, but since I will be at work there's no way I could be the first but this should be interesting.
mine should be waiting on my desk by the time i arrive at work 9-930 EST ..hopefully ups isnt running late tomorrow

The LTE should be the only thing you will get that's good. The 3G sucks here most of the time. Upload faster than DL.

Unfortunately our normal delivery isn't until around 10:30 EST. Hmmm, but I know where the UPS distro center is here. Maybe I could wear a brown shirt and look official.
I live out in the boonies and on a good day, UPS would get to my house around 6 PM. So those of you that get yours at 10 or 11 AM, enjoy and think of those that will be waiting until much later!

I was with a friend of mine and after calling ups they told him where the truck was so he could meet the driver and get his package since he was heading out of town for a few days.
Ups can be very nice if they are spoken to nicely.

A number of blogs/tech sites are saying invitations have been sent out for a "Google Play" event in New York tomorrow (24th October) at 19.00hrs local time (0:00hrs 25th October BST (UK time)). That part seems to be definite.
Tech Radar say that they were told by Google it was just a meet & greet event, so no launches. But what some others are saying is that Kitkat 4.4, Nexus 5 & Nexus 10 2 might be launched at this event. Kitkat I think is an outside possibility, Nexus 5 & Nexus 10 2 not so much.
So far we have only rumours/speculation as to when these products (& OS) might be launched. I'm not stating this as gospel. But I thought it worth posting just in case even if it is only for Kitkat. And people would at least be forewarned in case they live stream it.

Sorry but these websites (IBTimes, Christian Post, etc) it's referring to are little better than a webcrawler putting together information that looks kind of like an article. They frequently just make up random crap to get clicks for their site and vicariously, ads. I would wait for a site such as android central or droid life to make some kind of announcement. As of right now, all official information is that the event will feature no news at all, and is just a small get together.

Oh there's nothing wrong with that. I'm doing the same thing. I wish they'd turn around and say "psych! Everything will will be there! But I don't see them doing that.
Now that Apple has released the iPad Air, it puts them on the defensive end though. The more time that passes, the more likely people will overlook the Nexus 10. I'm not entirely sure Google cares though. They've already infiltrated the Apple ecosystem with most of their apps. Google's strategy is certainly one of slow, constant persistence. These tablets and phones are a kickback to people who support them I think, not a direct competitor with any other brands tablets. That's how it seems to me anyways.
Hopefully they don't keep us waiting too long. I sold the N10 in anticipation for this, and I've been waiting patiently for a while now. Come on Google.... don't wander into the world of Valve time....
We;; is 8:38 and no news about the event. It hasn't been streamed on youtube like other times and thers no updated blog about it either. Also theres been lots of errors with google services today? Coincidence? or could they have had some issues? Hopefully we'll know what went on in the conference by tomorrow but it most likely wan't any of the devices since it wasn't public.
Very suspicious that we've heard nothing I think.
I wonder if they did something huge and its all under embargo until a certain time?

One of the "friends" that were invited made it sound like all they did was hang out with a bunch of other Google employees according to an article I read but why would they send out invites for that. I agree with u and I think they're planning something big and bribing the sites to stay quiet

Okay, so now it's in the "Manufacturer Development" stage. Has anyone followed these (or have inside knowledge) enough to know how long, roughly, the timeframe of these stages take?
No idea here ... but I do know they only recently added the V30 to the Oreo list .... when it was clearly out for months in Korea.
So I wouldnt gamble on a timeframe for release - just that we will get it sometime.

When I asked a customer service rep about it the said "we get our info from the manufacture"
At this point it will be my last ever phone purchased thru t-mobile. Not that they care about original customers at all. They are more interested in snagging people from the other 3 carriers.

That is an old story and it references the Tweet about the update being in 2 weeks while he should be this week.
Here is an article posted on TMo News dated April 6th with the Twitter conversation dated April 5th. The author of the Phone Arena article should have actually done his research instead of being lazy.

What's funny about the whole thing is that Phone Arena posted a story on April 7th by a different writer with the same Twitter conversation and it showed the dates of the conversation on Twitter. It proves that they are just regurgitating old stores and spinning them for clicks which is a big fat fail in my book. It also seems they are biased against T-mobile from looking through some of their other stuff.
What's sad is that Android Authority cited Phone Arena's story. That is another failure. Tech blogs are just copying each other's stories instead actually giving us useful information. I called Phone Arena and Android Authority out on the lack of actually checking stories and their failure to post legitimate news, not that they will fo anything about it.
I know now who not to trust for phone information and these losers top the list.

Yeah it sucks to be honest, it's a shame because PhoneArena used to be up there as best in my opinion, now they've just lost the vision I think, most of the comments on articles are them getting called out

Exactly. Half of what they post for specs on phones is inaccurate now days
