Hi @all! In my daily LG Facebook page checking i just found something interesting: Now rooting the phone does not void the warranty! Here's the thing:
http://www.facebook.com/notes/lg-it...-di-root-attivi-in-garanzia/10150205338062585
It's in italian, but it clearly says that root doesn't avoid warranty.
Best news.

Not only root, but also installing a custom rom won't void the warranty (unless the damages to the phone are caused by the custom rom itself).
Wow, Life's Good indeed
I wonder if LG in other countries would adopt such a stance on rooting?
Is this applicable to lg everywhere in the world or specificly italy?

I wonder if this applies to Romania also...
A friend of mine sent to LG service ~2 years ago a Cookie with the touchscreen destroyed by water contact. They repaired it without saying anything.

I've just contacted LG Poland. According to a guy on the other side of the chat service rooting DOES void the warranty for Polish LG phones That's too bad, I was hoping to install CM7 :/

It's not a problem. Go ahead and root your phone. Flash a custom ROM and you'll not regret. No chance of bricking your phone if you follow all the steps correctly. And if you root and install a custom ROM once successfully, you'll never make a mistake again.
Enjoy
Yes, same thing in Thailand. I went to LG Support Center with LG P500 totally dead (cannot be turned on, not even start) in my hand. They changed the mainboard and charge me nothing. I told them that I upgraded its firmware and it became dead. 555. Now my phone is working but the EIMI has been changed though.
Well, I don't need warranty in case I brick the phone (which is unlikely). I fear, that I
1) Root the phone and install CM
2) Phone breaks (for some random reason) and i wont be able to de-root it back due to the malfunction
3) LG Poland will deny warranty repair based on the fact the phone is rooted
It's good news~
However, is it for all country!?
I concern more about hardware not soft one(cause it seems not easy to brick P500)
any news about the -rooting does(not) void warranty- in romania?
Italian LG confirmed that that is a choise only of LG Italia so this doesn't worth on all countries, isn't a choise of LG Electronics for all countries, but every LG "state" decides for his own

I'm in the UK running generic global and i got the update today
How do I know what version I am running? I bought it through o2 don't know anything else about it.

back menu menu back
it's in there..
The Generic UK update isn't out yet.. but very soon hopefully! (or so SE would have us believe!)
Ah great thanks. Knew about the secret menu but not what it was used for. I am on generic. Is there a way to change it to global and is it worth doing or should I just wait forever for the generic version to pop up? Advice appreciated

Depends how impatient you're feeling!!.. I had absolutely no intention of rooting etc.. but got fed up of the lack of info so I followed the simple upgrade method.. rooted using the one click root app on my phone.. changed the default prop values as per the thread instructions and plugged into SEUS.. bingo.. 2.1...
Rooting the 2.1 was a bit trickier though (want to go to UK Generic when it's out)..
all i get from sony when asked is *******There are still tests which need to be carried out on generic versions to ensure they meet UK laws & regulations.*******
Surely the global version is still subject to UK laws etc if its being used in the UK. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being rooted and does it affect my warranty? Thanks for all the advice really good for a nooby discovering the world of a real OS

Factory reset will only reset current firmware. You need to get the 1.6 flash tool from the development section and install the 1.6 firmware back onto device. REMEMBER use 1.6flash tool not 2.1 flash tool.
If you need links ill try to find them, but best to pm bin4ry

Ok I am on o2 pay monthly but want to keep things like Moliere. In fact only moxier. I think that's the only thing. Don't want to root till warranty is up. But do want to upgrade ASAP. Without having to wait till o2 sort themselves out. Is it possible to take all my apps etc. Backthem up debrand upgrade then reinstall apps without being rooted.
Is that possible or fantasy?

Hello.
I have flashed my phone with SuperAOSP for Cyanogenmod (i don't know for what phone), but after i reboot the phone, it can't go into bootscreen (doesn't show Galaxy Ace S5830 Logo) and the phone light didn't work. Eventhough I use 3-button-combo (volume down-power-middle) to use Download Mode, it wouldn't work. and if I remove the battery and reattach it while holding the 3 buttons, it stilln't work. When I reattach the battery while pressing 4 buttons (volume up-volume down-power-middle), it was detected in Odin, but when i flash it, the program stucks in "setup connection". Help me, please!

Service Center bro!
I had similar brick few weeks ago and tried everything, including USB Jig.
Nothing worked, just taking it to SC. Here in DR was like $59 USD. (2,200 DOP).
EDIT: Yes bros... It lost its warranty due to a small hit they "found"

you are first guy i see in xda who got caught in service center
Let me try to be a little bit more explanatory!
Here in Dominican Republic there's NO SUCH SERVICE CENTER.
Here you take your phone to the provider company where you bought it. If for some reason your phone has physical damage like it has been beaten, then your warranty is lost.
Few months ago the speaker broke down and they had my phone repair with NO cost. But then it got hi by I-don't-know-who-what-why and warranty was pufffff GONE.
Now you all got me?
Here in the netherlands ( i had sgs II
I had dropped my sgs II from a 8 story appartement building
And it was rooted but i couldnt see anything on my screen
I tried to unroot an thought it worked
Ive given it to service centre
They found out that i was rooted soo i need to pay 214 euros
Then ive brought i t back to my provider and changed it to 2 galaxy aces
One with stock froyo
And one with sgs II rom 2.3.5 now
Never had a problem with my ace except the touchscreen
Its getting sticky after a lot of every day 22 hr use

I also had good experience with LG service center in Bangalore.
I had actually dropped my phone from one floor & it stopped turning on a day after!
But there were no physical damage so I took to service center.
They replaced motherboard without asking a question!

LEO tool is right!
But you still have another way, search for "Riff Box"
EDIT: NO , LEO TOOL FLASHER IS NOT FOR OUR PHONE! Beside you must have the Box/cable to do this, cause USB don't support.
Our phone just can use the riff box to save the phone boot , and LGMDP to flash baseband, rom,dz file,.... And KDZ to flash KDZ file.

How does it matter if it voids your warranty? Your warranty doesn't any way covers hardware damages. And software damage can be repaired by flashing a wokinf ftf using flashtool.
Thanks,
Rick
Yeah, but the thing is SI numbers will be different from the back of a phone with the one in service menu. And also, this rom will lack all the T-mobile crap and bloatware they usually put there
I really hope you're right and if the day comes when i have to go to my mobile operator with the warranty, they dont give me hard time because of this... But hey, i can blame myself for being inpatient and them for being di*ks

Hardware damage does not necessarily mean that phone has to fall or hit something to get damaged. There are alot of hardware components that can go 'bad' on them own. Manufacturing defects that can happen to a whole batch of phones where for example motherboards burn out etc...

Hi.
After having a ****ty customer experience with my S4, I decided to look elsewhere for a new phone.
I am definitely interested of rooting the phone I'll buy to debloat it and customize it to my needs, so to cut to the chase...
Do you know any manufacturer who's phones can be rooted without having warranty issues afterwards? I mean after flashing stock firmware, unrooting the device etc.
Thank you!
P.S. Developer edition phones are excluded because we don't have those in Greece.
Only phones from this site can be bought:
