I have samsung Ace s5830. there was some problem with my ace i had sent it for service. It was back from service after 21 days and i was installing the applications back to my device. everything was ok. I had made the default install location as SD card using the method mentioned at
http://androinica.com/2010/08/how-to-install-apps-to-the-sd-card-by-default-on-android-2-2-froyo/
Suddenly I found that the applications installed in the SD card went missing and i was not able to install any application. I was stuck up at the screen "Installing......".
I changed the default location back to phone but still I am not able to install any application even from the market. Actually the application is not getting downloaded at the first place. The install button gets greyed and nothing happens after that in the market. Installing APK files gets stuck up at Installing Screen. I tried doing soft reset by removing the battery and inserting again, i also tried factory reset, i tried the wipe data/factory reset still i am not able to install any data.
before sending it for service i used to have around 50 MB free in the phone. but after sending it for service i now have around 120 MB free in the phone. Is something missing in the firmware? should i send it back for service. I dont want to do that as they will keep it for another 20 more days.
Kindly help.

Its a firmware error, if you can then check hubix tutorial on flashing. its very easy to flash if you read the instructions and follow as said.
i tried flashing 2.2.1 firmware. no use. still i am stuck up at the installing screen. one thing i noticed was the logs and contacts were still intact after flashing. am i doing something wrong.
Maybe this can help you:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103756
Try it! Was your phone rooted before getting back to service?
To me this one(link2sd) hase solved the problem:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919326

I recently purchased an Optimus T and rooted it with z4root and then installed Titanium Backup to delete some of the preinstalled apps, like the Pacman Demo.
As I was removing each app, (~5 at this point) the Home button suddenly stopped working, followed by total phone death. Even after factory reset, when I was trying to access the phone, eventually I was shown a "... setup.exe stopped responding..." (or something like that) message and my phone just stayed stuck on the booting screen (android) every time I restart (w/o entering factory reset).
Does anyone have any ideas, or know which apps can prevent the phone from booting properly? A list of safe apps to delete would be helpful too. I thought I was pretty cautious with removing only non essential apps, but it seem bricked. Thanks again!

About list off apps, I have to agree. Even it there is litle problem with dependencies, some minimum describe of these issue will be great!!
So, about your problem - I think, that you will have to download original ROM and do flashing with KDZ_FW_UPdater. (search on xda for more information).
But definitely, if it's possible I would try to install custom recovery throw adb shell (android SDK tools) and do backup of system for possibility to recovery or saving at least few data, and after try wipe and install one of custom ROM.
This happened to me after I tried deleting preinstalled apps on my Optimus One... Sent it in for repairs since it just stopped working. The tech guy said he did a "software update" and everything is good as new (except for the LGMITS error once in a while)
They didn't even bother trying to fix mine. They just told me to send it in and gave me a replacement.
So I finally figured out what I did wrong - basically when I was doing the deleting, I accidentally deleted the LG Home app, which effectively deactivated my (duh) home button and effectively stopped everything from functioning properly. For some reason I thought it was just a simple link from my phone directly to the LG website, as would happen with new PCs very often. Well... won't be doing THAT again.
However, my web2go button isn't working. I have to force quit every time I try to click on it. Can I just get rid of it or will it just give me more trouble later on?
At least you knew what went wrong with yours... I was just erasing CarHome and Layar and the LG App Adviser among other things i wont be using like Twitter and Latitude.
And they even gave you a new one x__x I had to wait 5 days before everything was good as new. After the first fix, USB debugging and mass storage stopped working so I sent it in for another "software update"...
hi. i was using my phone a while ago. but i got a framework error in my phone. i opened facebook and it force closes everytime. ive been getting a framework error for the past 2 days already. i decided to restart my phone in NORMAL. after that, i got stock on the MIUI loading page. i really dont know what to do. enlighten me please.
Its possible you could have flashed the ROM from a faulty link (have downloaded ROMS from other sites links and nearly ruined my phone cause it was missing something.) OR if your phone has been working in the past, then have you tried to repair permissions?
Was it something you may have triggered to cause it to say that? played with any settings? installed some root-only apps that didnt correspond well to your system?
Binary up to date?
Upon flashing a ROM again, have you allowed it that 10-15 min range to fully set up and boot up for your phone?
I would say just flash again. If you can, also wipe the data, cache, the whole 9.
hi all,
Since a week or 2 my phone is constantly giving messages like this: "The application LogsProvider (process com.sec.android.provider.logsprovider) has stopped unexpectedly"
When i make a new contact or a new file on my phone, it disapears after rebooting. When i uninstall all my apps and reboot the phone, all the apps are back and nothing has been uninstalled. Even when i format the sd card on my pc, and reboot the phone, all the content is back as if nothing has happened.
When i try to reset it to factory settings, it opens in recovery mode. When i then select to wipe all data or wipe cache and reboot, nothing has happened to it, everything is still on the phone like before. Even when i deselect the backup and automatic recovery checkboxes before i reset to factory settings, nothing has been wiped.
When i try to update the phone with kies, the update installs correctly, but when the phone reboots, the same old firmware is still installed and the settings are intact.
When i try to update the phone with Odin, everything goes well, and it says 'pass' in green color. when i reboot the phone, the same old firmware and settings are still there.
I run stock firmware from november '11, which i can tell by dialing *#1234*
Can anyone help me identify this problem, and is there a solution? It really looks like this phone has some write protection or something..
i made a youtube video that describes the problem, but this forum doesn't allow me to make a link.
anyway, my phone stays stuck on the 3rd of september and that sucks.. any solutions plz?
the video
i can't post the link, so let's try it like this:
First type the 'www', then the 'youtube', then the '.com', then type 'watch?v=n6SH8QDJr94&feature=g-upl'
Flash custom kernel, do a factory reset in CWM and see if the data is gone.
i've already tried to install cwm, but first i needed to root my phone. When i tried to root it, it could not find the Root.zip on the sd card, although i'm pretty sure i put it there, it just disapeared after the reset, just like all the other files..
Flash it [kernel] through Odin (PC).
allright, i will try that, thanks already!
ehm, even that didn't do anything, i will upload a youtube video in a few minutes..
the youtube video:
type 'youtube', then '.com', then '/watch?v=P_D2EbPF0Ik&feature=youtu.be', without the '..
really strange how i can update the kernel and nothing has changed!
I really start thinking there is some kind of write protection or the internal storage is totaly screwed up?
Seems your nand is partially borked, and is stuck in a state where it will not update the memory, so it is "stuck" at a specific point in time.
I have heard that it's POSSIBLE (and I stress possible) that flashing with repartition ticked with the PROPER .pit file will resolve your issue, but I cannot say this with any certainty as I have not actually done this myself. But at this point, it seems you don't really have anything to lose by trying.
I can't seem to find a reliable download link for the .pit file for the I9100 right now... it's called u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit. I'll see if I can't find one when I have a spare moment.
EDIT: Found one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28321934&postcount=35. BUT!!! Only use it if you are positive you have an I9100. (check on the label under the battery) Flash it with a stock firmware with re-partition checked.
False alarm. Turns out the link is dead.
EDIT 2: This looks promising... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448351
TL;DL: Phones 16gb storage changed to 128mb overnight. None of my files/apps/pics accessible.
I have the international version for the S3 (GT-i9300) with 4.3 stock firmware installed (rooted)
I woke up this morning and looked on my phone to see that my primary launcher, nova launcher, had been reset to the original layout when you first install it. I was confused so I restarted my phone and it went back to touch wiz. But now none of my apps, files, pictures, etc. from the internal memory on the phone are accessible. It seems like it went back to an old backup I once had due to the lack of my newer contacts on board.
When I connected the phone to my PC it only shows 127mb/128mb where as on the storage settings it shows available space of 5.75gb/16gb where all the non system memory are labeled as miscellaneous.
In application manager it shows all my apps i used to have but now they all have the android logo and 0b of storage.
The phone also prompts a message every couple seconds saying clock is not responding.
No idea where to go from here seeing as i can't even access all of my internal storage... Would appreciate some help on my situation, thanks in advance!
EDIT: Tried factory reset, tried installing play store apk, tried flashing an updated firmware, tried booting into clockwork recovery.... all with no luck
Flash full stock firmware with Odin then factory reset.

Thanks for the suggestion. I flashed stock firmware and ended up doing a factory reset through the recovery menu. All seemed well as my phone stopped heating up like it used too, battery lasted longe and all the symptoms I was facing stopped. Unfortunately when I woke up this morning the phone factory reset itself again. Same symptoms as before but this time I can view files, even though everything got deleted...
My question is now should I just flash a different rom like cyanogenmod? So far for the past 2 years I've only stuck to the stock rom and I've faced nothing but troubles. Wondering if I might face the same thing once I convert.
Thanks!
I got my hands on a Galaxy Grand 2 sm-g7105. Performed a factory reset from device and the system worked nicely enough. A particular third party app I wanted to use wouldn't load so I kept tweaking.
I rooted and set up a CWM recovery with Odin, then considered going with Resurrection Remix. I made a backup with CWM, wiped the device and set it up. It looked great but 'audioFX.apk' or something along those lines kept crashing every 30 seconds or so. It didn't cause me any problem besides the annoying crash notification, so i figured I could just remove the apk and be done with it. To my dismay, then the notification then piled up non-stop and the system become unusable.
I went and restored the backup on CWM. Then I'd get error notifications for this and that stopping working (basically the apps present on the backup that weren't on the stock rom), so I figured the backup was useless. Another mistake, I guess.
Performed another wipe, deleted the backup for space. Tried removing every piece of bloatware I could find before unrooting (I wanted to do that). Finally everything seemed to roll... except I deleted some important apk, SecDownloadManager I've come to believe, and at that point the Play Store couldn't update a thing, it got stuck on 'Downloading'.
So I did another wipe, just to find out that didn't restore the missing apks. Got my hands on a stock rom for my model (a different build than my origibal one, but to hell with it... right?). I got that working work Odin, but to my surprise that didn't seem to completely restore the apk mess, and I got a ton of crash apl notifications and even after logging on Google the play store didn't let me in to try and see if apps could update.
Finally, I found what is supposed to be the device's original rom. Odin'd it all the way. Everything seems to be where it belongs, but I cannot really check 'cause... NOW THE ****ING WI-FI WON'T TURN ON. It's not like it doesn't connect to my network, it just won't activate. I press the switch, or goes back off.
I tried rebooting, taking out the battery for some seconds, performing a factory reset from within the system, wiping from CWM, dialing *#0011# to access service mode and deactivating power-saving mode. Nothing works.
HELP, please.
I'd be happy if the WiFi just worked, but knowing why the hell a stock rom should give any headache or what I'm doing wrong for it to go so wrong might be a step towards the solution.
PS: I'm writing this as I recall, so the details might not be completely spot-on, but the broader problems were those.
