Flashing android 2.1 generic u.k rom - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I just got an x10 for a relative because it was a really cheap deal. It has 3 branded android 1.6 software still on it. Can anyone tell me where to get the generic uk software and what to use to flash it onto the phone. I was going to use Omnius to flash it but they don't have generic uk on there, just generic global and some other generic international.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Can you not just use SEUS or PC Companion to update this to the latest 2.1 software?
Both of those progs are available from the SE website.
I would go with that for a quick official fix
Failing this look for Flash Tool in this forum and follow the guide.
Flashtool is available from here along with the generic firmware for the x10i

Moved to proper forum.

Thanks for your reply. I have upgraded it to 2.1 using seus but as i said in my first post. its branded to 3 and i want to have unbranded generic software so that i can upgrade to 2.3 when that arrives

Just click on the link that I put into my first post to flashtool ... on that page you can download global generic firmware and flashtool to flash it with.
THere is also an excellent tutorial on how to use flashtool by rendeiro2005 here

but i need a generic german firmware...

Casmo.

this work the way to return back from nordic firmware to orginal firmware.

i will like you to share my knowledge regarding returning back to own country firmware from the nordic 2.1
first of all download the bin4ry update tool and firmware but not any firmware but 1.6 firmware
downgrade your firmware from 2.1 nordic to 1.6 any countries firmware should work
then change the value of build.prop to your orginal handset value or your choice value.for more information about the value you can search blog
then try to update it with seus. if it say you have latest firmware then repair it with seus and if seus dont give option for repair then use pc companion .
if you are lucky then you will get the latest firmware or downgrade your firmware to your choice of firmware and that is great for now cauz if there is any update for your choice of firmware then you will get update so need to wait for while
i know this work cauz i have done this by first of all i was using nordic 2.1 thou my orginal firmware is uk generic then i downgrade my firmware to netherland 1.6 and then i change the value/replace it with my orginal build.prop and now this mornign i repair my phone with seus and it is working like acharm 2.1 ..hurry guys ...
i have included my build.prop 1.6 so this should work for each and every one
Thanks for share.
I dit it myself with my original italian firmware few days ago. Now, i'm trying to decrypt my original firmware. I've seen a tool here. Do you remember that?

Use the NL one in the link above, root the phone using Androot, copy the build.prop from the first post to /system/usr and replace the old one, then open PC Companion while your phone is connected and click update.
Hi @all,

Thanks badboybiky and Skeldave.

[Q] Xperia X10 multitouch issue...

i know this is my first post and all, but im quite concerned as my friend got multitouch for his x10 quite some months ago, and i am yet to recieve the update as ive had no notifications of it at all. Hopefully this website can help me to resolve this issue, i know how to use the search button but ive really no idea what im looking at. All i would like is a few links to point me into the right direction as what im supposed to do to upgrade my software to atleast support multitouch. All your help would be muchly appriciated thanks for reading
Use flash tool 0.2.9.1 to flash the appropriate x10a or x10i 2.1.A.0.435 firmware. Both the flash tool and firmware can be found here....

Here is a detailed step by step guide for noobs on updating. It is based on AT&T X10a, but it will work for anyone. Just use the correct model firmware....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012380
There are ways to implement dualtouch on your existing firmware, however if you flash the generic 2.1.A.0.435 firmware you will be certain to get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS when available.
Just to add on top of the instructions provided,
You will lose your personnel data. So BACKUP before you start with this procedure.

[Q] Question on upcoming update

I see the X10 is getting an update to 2.3 my question is I have a custom rom for 2.1 and am wandering if pc companion will update it or if i will have to debrand and reflash to old stock att 1.6 to get the newest update
First, you will not get the update running AT&T branded firmware. You need to be running the 2.1 generic firmware that gets the update. There are different theories on what regions/kits will get the update first. Global Generic is my guess, but unknown13x says Europe first.
Basically, don't do anything till the update is released. It's all speculative at this point.
Btw, all the gingerbread info is in the "sticky" thread at the top of the general section. Look there for future info, as this thread may get closed by mods.
For those who are running AT&T branded 2.1 or 1.6 firmware, here is a step by step guide for unbranding to global generic 2.1.A.0.435, which will get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS when available......

Ok thanks for the information

Sorry to burst your bubble, but AT&T will NOT be updating the X10.
They are ONLY updating phones released in 2011 to Gingerbread.

Update it yourself:

Manual Update to Stock 2.3.3 x10

Hi guys,
I am on rogers here in Canada, and we did not recieve the 2.3 update for my branded x10i.
I wanted to manually update to 2.3, and was wondering if I can do that.
Can i just download the Generic version 2.3.3 build 3.0.1.G.0.75 from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
(which says its meant for unbranded x10i's) and use it on my branded x10i from rogers and follow the instructions to root and install? Would it work? Or what are the procedures?
I ultimately want stock 2.3 rooted for my phone.
Thanks!
of course it works
just put the downloaded .ftf file in the firmware folder of your extracted flashtool
then flash it
done
It works flawlessly dude. I made that with my X10a Rogers about 20 days ago
