I just bought the phone in India a couple of days back. I wanted to update the phone s/w, from currently v10c, to v 10d. But every time I try and after accepting all the terms and conditions, midway through the process I get a message that the phone don't support S/W update. I have installed all the necessary driver. The programs recognises my phone. It even tells me that there is S/W update available for my phone. What could be the problem? Am I missing any setting on the phone that is restricting it from updating? Help me out please.
ok
1.first go to settings->applications->development-> now check usb debugging..
2. connect phone to computer
3. 2 notifications will pop up
4. turn on usb mass storage
5. do the usual steps necessary that u did before
Thank You so much it worked. The usb debugging option needed to be checked. But the mass storage option needed to remain unchecked. Its now updated to android 2.2.2. And contrary to what others have said about slowing down the system, I think it made my phone faster and snappier after the initial booting process. I highly recommend updating the phone to this version. And thanks for ur reply zeemar007.
There is one more thing I wanted to know. I have synced my contacts with google. and I have changed the settings in the display option to show contacts only in my gmail account. But still for certain contacts it shows the phone pc sync copy of the contacts as well while for some it don't. Cause of this the details of these contacts show the birthday twice with the same date. When I go to edit of these contacts it shows both gmail and phone pc sync. How do I correct it to show only Phone Pc sync. Even though all the contacts have a copy in the gmail account and in the phone this happens to only few contacts. What could be the issue? Is this some bug?

well ur second problem seems to me as if u have some problem which GENERALLY OCCURS BECOZ U HAVE SOME CONTACTS SAVED IN PHONE MEMORY WHILE SOME ARE SAVED IN SIM CARD.. is dat so??? lemme know..

I do have a backup in my sim but I have unchecked all option from display settings in sim and phone keeping only the gmail contacts option checked. Also all the contacts are backed up in my sim. But this problem only shows up in a few of the contacts.

go to user cp> options > default thread subscription mode> select no email notification.
this way, whatever thread you post in, the same thread will be listed in the main page of your user cp. so this way you will know if somebody has posted a reply to your post.

u can do this (NOT RECOMMENDED!!!)
1. DELETE ALL UR CONTACTS FROM PHNE MEMORY i.e clear the contacts
2. now synchronyse ur phone via pc
3. this way u will get what u want 2 c in contacts
if u use wifi, 3g or data connections then deactivate gmail synchronysation.. from contacts or else ur gmail contacts will showup in ur contacts list..
ONLY DO ThIS IF UR really desperate

i just recetly replaced my Yarvik 260 tab due to a screen bleed had to get a replacment from the shop
i ended up with the Intenso 7" tablet i must say i do like it feels good it is responsive and fast

However the thing dose not have google play on it. this is rather a large prob for me as i need play to
use the apps i have payed for not many but i do use them an awfull lot....
this week i have sat on google trying to find a solution the closest i have found was the GPlay apk file
that was linked in a post i think on these forums.
play loads however it wont let me register my gmail account to play so it will not log in at all
is there any one with an idear on this issue at all......
Failing that any one know of a custom rom i can install on this tablet preff icecream as i have grown
to like that incarnation of android...

nope i have not rooted it would not even know where to begin on this tab. Yes i have Gmail account regged on it.
when the factory reset is done the Google play is wiped from thetab and i am back to square one agen.....

since u are running 2.3 u try to install android market apk and don't install playstore apk ........may be that might causing problem as playstore is latest one

did a factory reset an tryed what you sujested still the same result no go it loads an asks for an gmail aco**** i put it in the divce an get nuttin it is like ths store carnt link to the accounts i add to my divice :S
return back where u purchased and ask them to replace it ........first time I'm hearing this kind of problem .......if u can root I can suggest u some more methods .........if u don't want to take risk just go and replace it .....or else just use different Google account that might work ........format ur tabs SD card and factory reset and later login using different account

I got HTC One X and just flashed a couple of custom ROMs and found the same thing. I few other guys also experiencing it. We think it must be a whatsapp thing and are hoping it will resolve itself in time!

if this problem persists and u need whatsapp do as following:
1- install whatsapp version 2.8 and enter ur cell number..of course it will fail to initialize
2- don't delete whatsapp just replace it with the newer version
this will give u access to chats but you'll have no contacts so they have to talk to you first
it's a half solution but better than nothing
P.S: 2.8 is available on any file sharing websites just google it

Download whatsapp pk from http://www.whatsapp.com/android/
Keep whatsapp preinstalled from playstore. Now install the apk and replace the application. And here you go, whatsapp is working for you.:good:

Hi,
I made a backup of my calendar, memo, contacts etc when I was on Gingerbread before upgrading to JB 4.1.2 on my S2. After upgrade I successfully restored memo and everything except Calendar i.e "S Planner". Kies shows that it have successfully restored the calendar but I cant see any events on my S2. I also did a restart but no change.. Not even 1 event have been restored...!!! Please Help...I badly want to restore my events...
But I just updated my kies and after that its not even successfully restoring it..it just goes to 50% and when I select "Transfer all events" to restore it reaches 97% and gives a message "Stopped loading GT-I9100's S Planner"... what do I do now ??
In both situation I still cant see any events restored on my device..!!! Or else ...Is there a way to view the "Calendar.ssc" backup file ..so that I can atleast view the events ?

Right sorted now, my calendar wasnt syncing with google as my agenda's were saved under My Calendar and not my google account. you can make a backup using ICal however from play store. I will just have to re-enter my calendar entries again saving under my account.
Guys, I do realise Lenovo S750 is a new device, but since it's running on MTK6589 maybe there are any firmwares that can be installed on this device?
I got it with original chineese firmare, and since I managed to install google play store, I'm having some problems with GPS fix, and cannot cope with that. I think it's the firmware problem.
Do you have any info, concerning this model, or a modded firmware that can be used? I assume, the MTK6589 are not all the same, and the firmwares cannot be used as a replacement?
I've tried many times, but fortunatelly I've managed to run GPS also.
As a solution I paste for future how to run google play store and GPS firs for chineese MTK6589 chipset. Maybe someone will need it in the future.
Just one thing - make sure your phone is rotted - I got mine chineese already rooted.
You need a rotted file explored - I use ESfileExplorer - link below.
Download and copy the content of zip archive below. Copy this to either to you SD card, ord phone storage - just to locate it no problem.
Then run ES explorer (or any other), find that archive you copied above, and select all the files within. Copy them into system/app (make sure your root options in setting are all "checked"). Then find theese files in system/app dir (helpfull sorting the files by modification time), and change their atrributes to READ (all three USER/GROUP/OTHER) / WRITE (only to USER), leave everything else blank.
After that restart your phone. Then you should have the google play store available - enjoy
As for GPS fix, after doing the above, turn gps off, run explorer, and go to data/misc dir, find mtkgps file, and delete it, restart the phone. Ensure you wifi or net connection is on. Download Better GPS application, and GPS TEST from play store. Run bettergps - choose your continent and country. Then go to settings/ location access, run GPS there and tap it. Next enable EPO (download latest) and AGPS. Run GPS TEST place the phone either outside under sky, or near the window. It should connect within few seconds. If it does, you can disable AGPS and EPO, also uninstall BetterGPS app. For me, it catches fix in few secs now :laugh:

How to install
- Make sure you have a MTK USB driver installed http://www.androidgroupon.com/rom/Tool/MTK_USB_ Driver.rar
- Download the rom from this link http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Lenovo_S750_S026_lang_en_0624.zip
- Download and unpack FlashTools http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v3.1316.0.150.zip and Click on Flash_tool.exe
- Press scatter_loading, and select a the MT6589_emmc_VV01.0.026.00-user.txt in ROM
- Wait file to be added into Flash Tool
- choose Option->USB Mode, make sure it's "checked"
–> Choose Option->DA DownLoad All->Speed->High Speed, check force to high speed
- Turn off your phone, remove the battery.
- Connect your phone, and press Firmware->Upgrade
- The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
- And green circles display
- Finish !
- You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on.

Generally OK but Calendar and Email don't work ... anyone knows how to fix this? Its a bloody useless smartphone if it cannot do these basic functions!

I don't know, what you're talking about, both GMAIL and preinstalled business calendar work no problem..... can you pls explain it?
Gmail works OK (Using GMAIL app) but the native email doesnt work, so other non-gmail accounts don't work - I have Exchange server & Hotmail accounts
The business calendar works but can only do a local (phone only) calendar so the exchange calendar doesnt work.
I use my phone for work and not having a calendar synced with exchange is critical.
Also I need to use other email accounts.

Yes, trying to find alternative. In the meantime, I tried to install GAPPS but didn't manage. I believe my first step is to install a cCWM recovery, but I haven't been able to find anything for this phone.
(Note - coming from Moto Defy; this process was easy - I'd download GAPPS then go into CWM; install ZIP from sdcard and bingo....
The recovery installed only allows updates and clean cache; no way to install a zip.
Any help on this appreciated as otherwise the phone works fine. However until I get mail & calendar working have to remain with my old Defy...

Managed to fix it (also got it from minideal, also calendar did not exist... and stock mail used to crash whenever you wanted to view a mail)

Here's another firmware from etotalk http://ge.tt/62Cz6Jl/v/0 it seems it's working well, calendards and sync are working. Comes rootted already, and with xperia lancher.
You just need to pun in the rom folder another file (which I don't know why is missing) secro.img look below - just paste the file in the unpacked rom folder before you run a flash tool.
Method of instalation, excatly as described in the 4th post from the begining- you just need flashtool and drivers - all explained up

Thanks for posting this, I think I will try this ROM but I will still have partition's problem I'm afraid. Did you solve sdcard0 vs sdcard1 issue? I want to have external sdcard as sdcard0 in the phone. I found many solutions to many phones but not to this model. Did you acomplish this somehow? I found this tutorial, will it do the job: ?

Lenovo S750 can assign which SD be used in first...
It worked for me.
After 48 h working on it it finally worked. I was having a fremework issue when trying to login, but now it is working. But, when trying to download an app I am experiencing the error (921). Can u help me with that?

In settings -> storage you can choose, which card is used as default.

Indeed I have phone storage or SD card to choose.
But whatever choice I make, the phone reboot & the SD card seems to be absent when I ask to change location from one or other app installed before.. It changes location from phone storage to internal storage but no sd card..
Quick system info show me that :
SD storage : 2go
Second SD storage : 25go (my external sd card)
Internal storage : 1go
System storage : 640 mo
Cache storage : 250mo
Memory : 1 go
How could I choose the second SD card tho ?

I too have the same problem, the phone does not recognize the external card so they do not you can do the installation project to this,
reads the internal memory as SD card and there is the problem I think.
