Hi there. Is there any way that i can get back my old recovery (EMERGENCY MODE) thing back on my phone?
I installed rommanager then clockworkmod then custom kernel (MIK) to get rid of my touch lag. It worked! Thanks MIK!
Now I would like to get back my old emergency mode.
Reason for this is, if my phone needs to get serviced, the warranty would probably be void if they see the clockworkmod. Thanks!!!
My latest firmware is 10F. 2.2.2. Please guide me too.

Woah. That is a uber fast reply. Thanks!
I presume that the file that i need is..
Original_Recovery_ThunderG.zip
Am I right?
Also, if i would like to flash the recovery, I have to use the adb command thing right? I can't use clockwork recovery to flash it back right?
Thanks!

CWM installed fine when I rooted but since it seems most of the Dev's are preferring TWRP to CWM I was thinking about getting rid of the CWM and installing TWRP.
I looked around but didn't see just how to do this. Anybody got a link to instructions or know what I need to do?
OR.... Am I worrying about something stupid and shouldn't worry about it?

I would switch to TWRP. All you need to do is flash TWRP right over CWM. You don't need to erase CWM first. Just follow the instructions for installing TWRP, and you'll be good.

Is it possible to just install it through terminal emulator now that we have root?

Not to my knowledge. Teamwin recommended installing it as a PG86IMG.zip for now, as that's the most reliable way to install it. You could also use fastboot to flash it if you'd want. Those are the only two ways I know to install it.
Actually, it looks like you can use Joeykrim's flash GUI app would do that...maybe research how to use it for that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192527&highlight=flash+GUI+app
my opinion is Teamwins recovery wil become the standard , nothing against clockwork . Amon Ra was the king of recoveries in the EVO4G days or atleast in my mind it was . I flashed the Teamwin recovery using the PG86IMG.zip . Went very smoothly without a hitch . My only advice is when you flash to Teamwin make a backup of your stock set up then let the flashing addiction kick in .

Yes. There's a new touch recovery available. Search the play store for 4ext. Its a touch recovery.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
Latest Twrp works well. Only issues I seen in the latest was the time is off by 3 hours in the recovery and it doesn't seem to charge no red light.. But flashes everything right..
Hopefully this fixes a issue where the phone wasn't charging to green while off...
I've just started to use 4ext and so far I have no issues. TWRP works well also. I did get some restarts while in TWRP.
4eXT is going to become the standard you just don't know it yet...
(used Amon Ra, Clockwork Mod,TWRP and now 4eXT.)
I am having an issue with flashing CWM via Odin and keeping it there. I flash CWM via ODIN, I've tried 3 diff versions of CWM , Red One, Voodoo (blue one) and the 3.0.0.8 via rom manager (orange one) each time i flash one, i can boot into after flashing it via ODIN, but when i reboot the phone. CWM is gone and its back to the factory samsung recover "for all devices" nonsense. I have been able to obtain root by flashing via the SU zip method and I have root, i just can't flash a rom b/c cwm wont stick....any ideas? search returns nothing!
Thats because you need a modified kernal for cwm to stick.
Here is the modified stock kernal for a froyo rom. put this in the pda function of odin.

+1 to you.
I appreciate the kind words sir, thanks!
even though i have flashed the kernel you have provided, my phone contiues to boot into stock recovery. (also thanks to providing the download link and thanks to person who asked question)

did you odin a cwm recovery after the modified stock kernal?
Make sure your battery is removed when entering download mode to flash cwm via odin.
Once it shows successful, remove the cable.
insert battery and immediately enter cwm using the 3 finger method.
Flash a custom stock kernel.
choose "reboot system now"
let the system boot up.
then boot back to cwm recovery and flash your rom of choice.

Sorry for the noob question. I just installed Rom Manager on my phone and it wants to automatically install Clockworkmod Recovery. Which is fine and dandy and I want that, but what if I want to restore to the original recovery if I have a hardware defect and I need to send it back to Samsung or Verizon???? Just curious!

You use Odin and flash the original recovery then flash the Stock Image file. I have those if you require them.

Okay so I managed to root my phone using this method ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...m.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116549
And root works. Now I want to get clockworkmod on my phone. I followed some steps on the internet and ended up getting my phone bricked. I managed to get it working again. Can someone please tell me what to do right? I used odin before and that was the cause of my bricking. So i'd rather not use that again.
I went to the clockworkmod/rommanger website and i found the s2 "Download Recovery" thing. If i flash this through the android recovery system will it work?
Help me out here.
Thanks in advance
What do you mean "I want to get cwm on my phone".
That file should root your phone and install cwm.
Are you getting confused because there no icon.
Dont use rommanager as that can have dire effects on a phone.
And next time put in ALL details about your phone;model, rom etc.

If you are having official stock 4.1.2 rom then go to settings/about phone and check your baseband and then Go to philz Thread you can search it on XDA . Choose the zip one flash it from recovery you will get CWM.
Hope it helps

I mean , when I boot into recovery its the default android recovery. Not the cwm. Not sure how to explain it but even before i rooted my phone. I had to boot into recovery, and the default android recovery screen comes when you want to flash the zip. After that I re boot into recovery the android one comes, not the cwm. So yeah the icon or the blue-ish recovery screen doesnt appear

Ok,I know what you mean now. That used to happen with rachmats rooting method;a temp cwm was flashed, and when rebooted, the phone went back to stock recovery.
Several people in the know recommend using pc odin(think you said you didnt want to use it) because it is risky flashing stuff by other methods. If you use odin to do stuff, then that means it is ready to help you out if flashing by cwm or mobile odin goes wrong.

So what can I do? I dont mind flashing cwm with odin as long as I dont brick my phone again. I've already rooted, if i use odin to get cwm , will it cause problems? Is there no other way to get cwm without odin? Maybe flashing a zip?
Yes,Jeetu said earlier.

Probem is my baseband is xxms4 while the philz only has one xxms1. Will it still work?

So I finally tried some AOSP, but missed my camera immensely so I went to switch back to my backup that I made in TWRP.
Unfortunately AOSP roms use CWM recovery and it won't recognize my TWRP so I've tried to redo the Dual Recovery method but since I no longer have stock kernel it fails.
Now I've also tried to use fastboot to flash a boot.img which I thought was a stock kernel....but obviously I was wrong or it didn't want to work.
Either way as of now I'm using FlashTool to flash stock image, then root, then install DualRecovery again and THEN restore backup.
Does anyone know where I went wrong and hopefully provide a faster solution in case I go back to trying ASOP again? Maybe backup in CWM next time?
Now I do have to flashable DualRecovery.zip that I did try in CWM but it didn't work either, I'm guessing since I didn't have stock kernel...
Thanks in advanced. Why didn't Sony just have a dedicated recovery partition!
Flash doom Lords kernel (v9 is it?) which has twrp, restore back up, done

Thanks, I thought about that but I didn't want any other kernel than stock. Couldn't find stock, but I went the long route and now I'm back in business!

the recoveries in the original development sections are actualy stock kernels with recovery, you could use those instead if you dont want dooms modded/custom kernel

Well I did try to use the dual recovery but it didn't work. It says it is only for stock kernel so I didn't expect it to, but I had to try...
@ZPaul2Fresh8
EDIT: DON'T INSTALL IF YOU STILL WANT TO USE CM!!!
It won't boot the system of cm if you flashed the twrp img, just flash it if you want to go to a backup!
"
It was very easy for me, at the end i had a twrp 2.7.0.0 in my cm11'd Z2, you need pc, and usb cable, and fastboot and adb drivers, lol its way easier than flashing .ftf, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2764971 and download the zip and extract it, follow this tout: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270 and you will be all good...
