Netflix - Droid 2 Global Themes and Apps

So I've downloaded every version of netflix on XDA, and none work on my D2G running fission. Thoughts?

It didn't work on mine either...

It only works on units with a specific CPU which we do not have.
It has on Chip DRM incorporated which is required to stream from Netflix.
So unless they come up with a software based DRM that they can use to replace what the CPU doesn't have it is doubtfull we will ever see a working NetFlix app!
You will probably have upgraded your phone by that time!

That's not good news. Did you get this info from Netflix?
Yet another reason why DRM sucks.

Thats weird the Droid 2 is in there list of supported devices.

why did you necrobump a thread to quote something that was true then but isnt now? netflix announced support for the droid 2 after bgarlock said that. said that.

Netflix works on my stock D2G. When I rooted my D1 and overclocked it to 1.2 ghz Netflix worked great. Don't understand why people are having a hard time with their D2G?

I downloaded from the Market 2 hours ago. It works great!

Sirius/Xm Radio APK

Not sure how many sirius fans are out there but I love it on my vibrant and you can use it on 3g or wifi. If it has already been posted my apologies. I am using it on Bionix1.2 rom and it works flawlessly
Thank you! I had no idea that SiriusXM was available for Android. I looked all over Market, several third party apps but nothing official. Why don't they publish it on Market?
Not really sure I was looking for a while, once I found it I subscribed to the online subscription and it has been working great!!
App is ok... no best of channels and no froyo support

No best of channels (never really listen to any of those stations so that would not effect me, but for some I am sure it will) but i was using this app on my N1 with 2.2 and it worked great...

Well you could constantly keep changing and adding different emails and get the free service.......
Thanks! I had it already, but it would never work on 3g. At least it didn't the first 3 months it was out.
Our 'basic' lifetime account is not good enough...they require the premium account and more money for the latest apk to work on froyo on my g2.....there should be a simple free stream app for basic accounts....
Works perfect on my G2 which is running stock 2.2 (froyo). It does an additional download for froyo and then works great!

Yes, I would like to know that too.
false--it's really how all this comotion came about. :/
no -.-'
A kid who changed build.prop doesn't know how to PORT a GPS driver.
Thats just nonsense.
In the video for GPS and crap what he did was
change the build.prop so it looked like it was 2.3
then he used one of the 2.2 roms with perfect GPS for him, I think he used AXURA but i'm not sure about that.
After that, he just made a video, went over the settings and about phone and said it was 2.3 didn't even mention the kernel, which would've told everyone that its a 2.2 but obviously most people don't know what kernel is.. so w/e
I don't think any of the GB Rom supports GPS yet on the Vibrant.
the GPS Chip set wasn't very good to start with thou.
cm7 has gps working i always use it
I was about to post, now that cm7 is OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED, gps should work.

Software cannot fix Hardware, and hardware is the main issue most people have.
If GPS DOES work, then it'd be for a few users on the Vibrant forum.

A GPS on GB wouldn't make a difference, they'd be 500 feet away from actual distance.
They'd crash and die if they drove with that kind of GPS
Officially supported by what?

5 years ago, there wasn't HTML5.
Adobe is doing us a favor with getting rid of adobe flash, if it wasn't so resource hungry then it would've kept going. Adobe dropping flash will not effect it either, in fact it'll probably free up resources for them (i.e. ongoing support) . They've already started to get on the HTML5 bandwaggon (see Adobe Edge).
Hot Air Won't Substitute for Flash
I've heard all kinds of baloney about the use of Flash being sooo bad on Android phones. Well without this, the Samsung S3 and the HTC S1 doesn't work for streaming video on some sites. Now, complainers, give me a GOOD alternative. Or is this a plan to cripple Android phones so they will work as bad as an iPhone?

Chill, and go sideload flash. Problem solved. Android is still not crippled.
And well this is the first step of moving over to HTML5
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
Basically Flash is obsolete with the introduction of HTML5 video just like 32bit Windows programs are obsolete since 64 bit has been around for years. Yet in both cases most sites still use flash and most Windows programs are still only 32bit. I think discontinuing flash support this early was a bad move by Adobe. It was one of the top apps in the Play store and had mostly good reviews. Its just too early to call it dead. Flash was pretty well performing, it allowed 720p youtube videos on my Droid 3 without noticeable lag and 1080p videos on my Touchpad. Since HTML5 has no DRM its not replacing flash anytime soon as its very easy to download an HTML5 video.
If you want flash you can download it from the site in my signature. It runs okay on JB even though its not supported.

Has Verizon or Moto replaced your phone?

I have had many lengthy discussions over the last few weeks with verizon customer support. My intent has been to have them swap my ICS upgraded razr maxx for an non upgraded one. I have not had any luck.
Have you? What tactics/facts supported your needs for the swap? The phone is non functional for my needs now, but verizon wont seem to agree with me.

Buy another & Ebay your current one? Might be less headache.
Don't tell them that you only want a replacement because of ics, you'll never get anywhere duh. Make up an excuse say your phone is constantly freezing and you've already done resets and stuff and you'll have one at your home yomorrow.

Matt's utility will not put you back to GB from ICS. Why would you wanna go back anyways? ICS is superior to GB... It takes some getting used to, but it's totally worth the time!

People need to realize that with you cannot go back to GB from ICS IF you updated your phone with an ICS version >= .8x. Once you have flashed that, you are forever on ICS. This is due to a new bootloader being put onto the RAZR. There is no going back to GB once you've update to ICS version .8x or greater.
Go to one of those used cell shops, they can do it usually, it's how they fix bricked phones, they usually have the Dev software required to do it

Actually you can go back you just need to root and find the right boot loader, it's how you fix a bricked phone... It's hard to do and finding the right stuff is almost impossible but it can be done

The inability to play embedded flash videos is a huge problem for me. Having the option to lock in 3g was also an important feature for me. The keyboard on gingerbread worked better with my thumbs, but it is not cause to return to gb. The other 2 reasons, are.

I easily lock 3G on occasion using a widget. Takes about 3 clicks. I have no issues with embedded Flash. I can't comment on the GB keyboard since I never used it.

Having to use a widget to switch to 3g after every reboot with only 3 clicks is far from locking onto a particular data connection.
By the sounds of it you purchased your phone with the ics upgrade on it (being you've never used the gingerbread keyboard), so you really wouldn't understand how wonderful this phone use to be.

First, I've owned the phone since it was released.
Second, If clicking a widget and finding a better alternative to the mediocre stock keyboard is too much trouble to you, then I realize trying to help you is fruitless. Good luck in your quest to get Verizon to give you a new phone because you want the Gingerbread keyboard back, can't figure out how to get Flash working, and don't want to use a widget to disable 4G.

First: You expect me to believe you have no experience with the RAZR GB keyboard if you've owned it since its release?
Second: Are you truly claiming that you have the ability to stream embedded flash videos, off of websites, with your DROID RAZR on the stock Verizon ICS release? If so, you have one unique RAZR, as you'd be the only one with the ability to do so.. Adobe Flash streams do not work on our phone with the update... visit the Google Play store and read the RAZR comments on Adobe... It's broken.
Third: If you are the type of consumer that is comfortable with needing to adapt and use alternative methods to use your purchased products as they are intended and advertised, then you are of a unique breed.
I appreciate and expect merchandise to operate as advertised.. I like the items I purchase to remain fully functional.
I haven't even mentioned the issues with the battery, but I'm sure you'd disagree there is anything wrong with cutting down the life of a battery by 40%.. Got an app for that?
Now you battery doesn't work either. ....Keep going. You're almost up to a legitimate reason for a new phone.

Did I say it didn't work? Or did I say it wasn't working as it was before the update?
He probably likes alternative keyboards so wouldn't touch stock, i hate swipe and like the stock ics keyboard.
My friend uses better kb or w/e, there are a few ppl that claim to have flash working on some websites.
And on stock ics my phone chewed through battery.
So root it and use a different cpu governor which will fix it. Custom roms will eventually (they might already) have a 3/4g toggle.
Motorola's ics updates are mostly fine, you should have read the problems ppl were having.
So you can't complain
Nothing isn't perfect, and i wouldn't expect stock to be as good as this, if flash worked fine, this would be one of the few phones i'd recommend to anyone AND it will not require they come see me to "set there phone up"
