Hi, at Uplinq conference Qualcomm announced that they worked very closesly with Adobe to make the Flash player available for mass market devices and get this, they said that our 800Mhz msm7227 is first mass market SoC that will support it!
Here you have official press release.
With proper hardware acceleration this could allow smooth playback of 360p clips and GPU accelerated flash shouldn't slow down browser that much.
Now it's just up to adobe to release supported version of flash and maybe up to samsung to release new firmware
EDIT: Decided to add a poll to see what will you do with flash after finally getting it on your device
Great news!
This is great!!!

Few things about this announcement that I keep thinking about:
1) this new version of flash will probably need new drivers developed by qualcomm to make flash work as it should so this means that samsung will have to release new firmware after the latest 2.3.3, so maybe with 2.3.4?
2) New drivers could mean improvements to the 3D performance
3) Samsung please do everything to give us full flash support!
honestly I don't use flash that much. the only thing I do use it for is flash videos and skyfire does the trick brilliantly! sure there are a few bugs but the browser is improving day by day. i see little to no use for me! but for some people that love flash games this is indeed great news!
I personally love not having no flash on my phone...too much adverts in my opinion!
This is my first post here. I want to buy this phone in recent times. In post above you mentioned skyfire browser. Does it show flash content even in this phone that does not support adobe flash?

AFAIK skyfire allows user to enjoy flash videos without flash on device. It transcodes(or whatever) the flash videos to something that is supported by the device.
Don't know precisely how it works cause I'm still using default system browser.
Nope. It only allow to watch videos, but not all. For example on a site with few embedded it will play only the first one.
And not all sites are supported.

Thanks for clearing that up, now I learned something new too
After more than a week of people voting in the poll I decided to summarise it.
1) 56,41% of people will use it to watch flash videos and that was to be expected.
2) 43,59% of people will show that their Ace supports flash, which I think is very funny and I will do the same. What's more interesting is the fact that only 35,9% will use it to play flash games.
3) 7,69% will not download it. I find it strange considering how many people longed for flash support.
I made to open flash 10.1 via Adobe air on LG GT540 with arm 6, now I have samsung. No flash - is shame...
Flash for acr would be great
Any specyfied time of this update?

Same for me...the last time I installed one of the other flash players it wouldn't work andI wasn't able to get the stock version to work again and had to reflash the room I was using.

So last night i upgraded to 4.0.3 by samsung kies, and after using it for a while i realized that the flash player doesn't seem to work even though i already had the adobe flash player 11 app
I went to google play store and tried to update, but for some reason this error keep popping up "Your order is processing, your item will be available in few minutes"
When i tried to uninstall, i got stuck in the uninstalling process, so i restarted the phone (even though it was still uninstalling, very dumb of me )
After the restart, apparently the adobe flash player 11 did uninstall, but now when i try to download it from google play i keep having that same error again, the "Your order is processing, your item will be available in few minutes"
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Did i screw up badly and i need to factory reset now?
There is a few people complaining about Google play is acting up. What version do you have? I think the issue was with .21

Adobe flash is not supported in ICS! AND guess what nobody was ready for that! The forums should accept a little responsibility for not posting about ICS not supporting (adobe ) flash.

Look I'm not 100% sure on this. But The answer to the market saying supports 4.0 devices is probably for tablets etc. just a guess. Why it's not supported by flash (adobe flash by the way) I don't know -something to do with Html5 being brought in to view video content). PS I have read somewhere that adobe DID say that 4.0 will be the last platform that they will support with flash. Whether they haven't got round to it yet is something I'm not sure about . But it will be supported at some time. when I don't know?
Hope this helps and .quells peoples fears

Can you be more specific. What do you mean it worked for flash player. Clearing market data worked for flash player? Did flash work on ics, because I've read that alot of people can't use flash to watch video in ics. Appreciate the feedback.

Just wondering if anyone has got adobe flash player to work on CM9 Beta? I'v been trying around with pretty much every version avalible. I have not seen much about it in the CM9 Beta dev thread. I hope people dont take this as an attempt to be pushy about it, I'm just wondering how to progress is going. The CM9 Beta from zeubea is very much appreciated and I'm very thankful for it.
It will not fully work but you can still install it.

Here's how I make mine work :
Install 10.3 apk, which is actually flash 11. After installing don't open just reboot.
You will find flash setting in your app drawer. Just do whatever setting suits you
Flash will work only on the stock Google browser. I tried with opera next it dun work.
Now just go to bbcsports football and try. It works all the time for me.
It works, don't get me wrong but it doesn't work well. Flash videos on the internet lag like a ***** to the point where it is unplayable. I'm using version 11 (or so it says)

I did what you said ndmuni and it's still not working.
I downloaded it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340773 which I thought should be the right version.
The app said 10.3 not 11 as Stevemotto mentioned.
I then uninstalled and tried from the same thread I found the first one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23663364&postcount=28
That one said 11.v11.0.1.153 in the app.
Still the same result.
I tested BBCSports football with the original browser and the result has always been it tells me to download adobe flash player and it links me to adobe saying
I got the wrong verison.
It's really hard for me to give this one up as I know that some live streams I watched before worked fine with another rom, and when you guys says it works for you.
I would really appreciate if you guys can link me the page where you downloaded your version. It would help me narrow down the possible factor that I might still have the wrong version.
Thanks for helping me out.

Hey guys, as zeubeas rom is still in beta0 and there is still some issues with the 2D drivers (something to do with debug), plus most of codecs are still broken, I have also tried most of the versions of flash available with out much success. These issues I suggest could also be related to cm9 itself, from what I've seen our ics is ported from an RC anyway and not from a stable version. Hopefully this is a fixable issue, and not one of those non fixable issue.

me too.
we all know that adobe has stopped development on Flash for mobile devices.. however, some have been able to save the last flash apk file..
I was wondering, why do developers not add this to their Roms so we dont have to look for said apk and install manually? does it somehow break the rom or perhaps make the rom "slower"?
The reson most people don't include is that adobe stopped development there is a reason, why add something buggy to a rom which is trying to have kleast bugs possible? Everything is turning to html5 coding, but if you really want just download it from trhe android general section, or download pimp my rom and extract it from there and just add it personally to any rom, or install it and when you backup apps before flashing you'll always have it. plus Opera has it embedded and opens anything without probs....

But it's kind of strange when there are still sites and elements which aren't included in HTML5, maybe it was too fast, and ASOP browser has sometimes problems as well..

this is not 100% right. theres still some (bit) development in flash apk even for GB time to time but the main reason why adobe say our devices are not supported are: like u said right (previous) versions was laggy or dont work, and 2nd thing was many ppl complained to adobe that sth in some browser in some custom rom didnt works, and adobe said that they werent very well interested iin shipping flash to all devices (to much dev. and $ maybe ) thats why some devices have a flash-certification, they are still able to download flash via playstore.--
so short said yes they said its not avaiable, so nobody complains, and who cares (want it) can easily download it still.. also ur right some browser have built in flash :good: , but everybody who need flash can download it from adobe - but they say on its site its not supported to avoid complainments/etc.
for me - i need flash - and it works very well. also thers nearly every mounth a new version, so it seems ther is some developing :good:
link to apk (for jb use 4.0/ics version; w/ normal install): http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
ahh i forgot to say and further reason is that (many) flash objects like embedded youtobe flash code on site are real perfomance-eaters,another reason why there are not maked/meant for our (low memory and cpu) devices, so ur true if u say it sometimes lag... (i browse allways in desktop mode )
Ye Its Buggy
Can I just download Opera and use flash without downloading anything else?
I need a Flash Player to watch flash videos on HTC Explorer and Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.
Which is the best ? Or should I install a browser ?
Both ARMv6 devices so don't expect much to work. There are unofficial flash apks out there for ARMv6 but performance isn't that good. If you want decent flash player you'll need an ARMv7 device.

I try to keep it updated all the time, right now the latest version is up. You can always go to the direct Adobe link at the bottom and see. But newer releases are all just security fixes that aren't adding any new features, they will never make anything past version 11.1.x.
