Excuse me if I am behind the game, I just got my invite. I had a couple of quick questions, hoping someone could help me out.
1 - I've been uploading music via my pc... left it on all night and it's only uploaded around 600 songs. Is there a LIMIT to how may you can add? I never saw that specified.
2 - When I open the Google Music app on my phone, it only shows the music on my phone... I thought I would be seeing the music in the cloud. Is there something I am not doing? Isn't that the whole purpose?
3 - I'm sure more will come...
Thanks!
Not sure of the top of my head of there's a storage limit, if there is though I'd imagine it would be quite a bit. As for the android app, when you first open it hit menu and go to settings, the first option is to select your Google account. They should all show up after that.
EDIT: I was just checking out my setting on the website and it appears there is a 20,000 song limit. Keep in mind this is beta, so there may be more eventually, or there might be subscriptions for more space.

We are talking about Google here.... Its probably a glitch that will be updated. I downloaded the app but noticed it did not take the place of the music app 1.0 already on phone, so I uninstalled it. Can't you use dropbox for what you are talking about? The size limit probably is the reason you don't. I'm learning more & more by you guys. Thanks....
I think the limit is 20k. Also in settings try and connect your music app to your account. I had to do it manually.

Interesting, I got my Music invite yesterday, downloaded and installed the app this morning and have used it, but did not get a prompt from the app (nor an option under settings) to select my google account till just now.
Looks like all of my music is starting to show up on the app now. Very odd this did not happen when I first installed the app since I had accepted the invite and already began loading music before I got the app.
Off-topic/on-topic question.
This is really not that important, but does anyone know of a way to get a LESS ugly widget to use with the Google Music app?
I hate this thing, but I love the music.
:-( <-------Me pouting.

Has anyone been prompted with a message saying they have too many devices (10) registered and need to deauthorize devices before being able to use it on other phones? I only have 2 phones and a Logitech revue that uses the streaming function of the app, but I've ran probably 20 different roms and I'm guessing each rom is considered a new device through the app.
Any work arounds?

Yeah this just happened to me the other day. I haven't checked to see if restoring app+data (yes I know it isn't a good idea) might avoid your newly flashed rom being counted as a new phone. May be something to try.
Worst case scenario is to log into your google music account (which you can do in the mobile browser) and clear all of the ADR6425 phones in there to start fresh. Might have to do this periodically to keep from getting that pop up.
Yup, this is normal. I am currently in the same boat with my work email. Both have a limited number of 'devices' at once.
If you click on (in google music) settings, music settings You'll see the list of devices attached to your account.
Every time you flash and login, it registers a new device. Just wipe them out whenever it gets too full.
I figured it'd be an easy fix like that. Thanks guys.

So I wanted to download this app to my nexus 7 so I could watch some movies. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hd.peliculashd
(app). So i downloaded it but to watch a movie it makes you download some app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLmhkLmZhc3R2aWRlb3BsYXllciJd. So i downloaded it however my av says its intrusive adware. I went and opened up the movie app and it now worked and it works good and has a lot of new movies for free. But as soon as i uninstall the player it wants me to redownload it. My question is, is it a big deal to have the app. Does it do anything at all? Can it in anyway damage my device?
Read the reviews. No bueno.
The apps permissions don't give it the ability to do much of anything other than connect to the internet and start when your phone turns on. All it probably does is stick ads in your notification bar, and android has an option to prevent it from doing that. There's (probably) nothing it can do to your phone.
Hi All!
I don't know why I am posting here and not in the review section of Play Store. Maybe I just need to vent out that's all.
As much as I was happy after seeing the MASSIVE improvements in new Play Music by Google (v5) ... I was immensely disappointed that the app lacks some extremely basic featured. One of them, not being able to DELETE any song or album store on device.
If its helpful, I am from Pakistan so Play Music's Other services don't work for me anyway.
The previous version of Play Music (v4.5) DID have this basic functionality which is why I am curious why its not there in newer version.
I was just thinking, of there is a way to MOD the app, just so we can get the Delete functionality back.
Thoughts?
in the settings you can clear the cache of music the app has downloaded. If you've pinned music to the device and want it deleted, unpin it then clear the cache. Sometimes you might need to clear the apps cache too... I think they purposely do not give delete functionality in relation to music that you manually loaded to your sd card, but I don't know why.
It's convoluted, doesn't work well but it's in there somewhere. I agree they need to add better basic features.
^ Thanks for the reply
My problem is specifically for music stored on the device. And just like you said, I sincerely believe that a delete option IS in there and they have purposely left it hidden. (Its not the first time they did that because it was also not there in v4 when it was newly launched. But they did add it later on.
So I can only hope they do the same this time too.
OR, we can have an expert here who understands how to read the app (a developer), tear it down and see if a Delete option really can be enabled.
I am tired of this from google play. Like you said, they did this before. There are to many options out there. Dont let them get away with it. Vote with the uninstall.
^ I already have uninstalled it. I don't want an app which doesn't provide me with the most basic feature and continue to provide awesomustastic GUI.
However would still like to know if there Is a way to mod the app to have a delete button.
UPDATE:
Finally, the latest update puts in the delete tracks option.
Thanks Google! for listening.
The SG4 is my second smartphone - first was the Droid Charge, which nearly drove me crazy but I learned a lot.
I am aware of the possibility of rooting my phone, but having never done it.....I'm hoping to fine ways to make it work for me unless and until I find someone to root it with me - and teach me.
So, my biggest irritant is the app that says Play Music, and has an icon of a pair of yellow headphones, is playing music most of the time. I don't hear it unless I turn the media volume up pretty high - but ??? When I open it, it is called "Listen Now" and has images of the music that I had on my external SD card from the Droid Charge. The options seem to be to play my own music or all music. This is a Google app called Google Play Music. It is running all the time and when I force turn it off, it turns back on.
Story Album is also running along with an Amazon process (not the shopping cart - I think more apps)
Samsung Watch and Samsung Link are also running all the time.
I know about task killers but unless there are new and better ones (recommendations please), they turn most things back on pretty quickly and don't really accomplish very much.
BTW, Verizon, without my knowledge, switched my SD card from my Droid to the SG4. Is that ok? It seems to be working.
So I guess I'm asking for suggestions as to how to turn at least some of these apps off and avoid having to root, if possible.
Thanks for reading this and for any suggestions/recommendations.
Louise
You cant help yourself until u root.
To stop stock apps or google service, you have to either freez them or can also grinify them.but you hav to root. For now disabled the internet when u don't need it,it helps some apps stop working in background.Auto sync off also can help you a bit.but root must.

I'm looking for something that will record the history of apps I've installed and uninstalled. The AppBrain timeline used to do this, but that seems to have disappeared.
I don't want something that tracks my app usage (like Aptrax or Frequency) such that it is always running somehow, I just want it to note when something was installed or uninstalled (and, for bonus points, updated).
There are two other apps in the Play store that seem to offer this. App Usage tracks installs/uninstalls, but also tracks usage. App Install Tracker seems to do what I want... but the reviews aren't so good.
So I'm looking for a recommendation.
Hey buddy, did you finally manage to find an app that does this efficiently? I am on the exact same lookout :-S

I've been using App Install Tracker that I linked above. It seems to record all the installs and uninstalls, but catches some updates (about 1 out of 10). I installed it on a new tablet and forgot to raise the silly default of 100 history entries to the max (2000), so I ended up losing history. It works well enough, but I'd switch to something better if I found it.

Man - it's such a basic need to track install/uninstall history. Especially when I have to troubleshoot a bug and I don't remember what apps I need to reinstall after uninstalling a whole bunch. I guess I am stuck with your solution as much as I would have preferred something more robust.
Any news on your side bro? I haven't yet found a decent app for this yet.
