[Q] Froyo/Gingerbread ROMS: Do they have the same features? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Since we can't change the kernel, are Froyo features like USB tethering available in the Froyo or Gingerbread custom roms for the mini/mini pro?
What about apps that require 2.2 or 2.3? Will those work on the custom roms?
Sorry for the beginner questions, I searched through the forums but couldn't find any answers to these.
Thanks!
Roy

Not sure about USB tethering, but Froyo and Gingerbread apps work fine on custom ROMs, though obviously you won't be able to run Gingerbread apps on Froyo.

[Q] question re: touchwiz (not one you would expect)

i want to update my vibrant. i'm a patient guy and i can wait for samsung and/or t-mobile to come out with the official release but some of these mods intrigue me. there are some variants i like. i note most don't have touchwiz.
that's a problem. i actually LIKE touchwiz. i have tried other launchers and i find myself going back to touchwiz. i'm not really into those other launchers. so here's my question- i can follow directions and install a 2.2 mod upgrade from 2.1 ji6 without an issue. how can i extract touchwiz so that i can install it after i install 2.2? and as a bonus, are there any 2.2 mods which still have touchwiz as a part of the pack?
There are several versions of 2.2 that include TouchWiz. Pretty much any of the "stock" ROMs will have it. Several of the previous Axura versions include it and both Eugene and Team Whiskey have ROMs that remain mostly TouchWiz.
You can use ODIN to flash a stock 2.2 that has root enabled... its the ALT METHOD in my noob guide.

gingerbread keyboard

I was wondering if anyone would like to port this to our Eris?
I tried to install if but it isn't working (running Kaos Froyo)
Gingerbread Keyboard
The one in the third link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9647119&postcount=2
works in CELB. I'm guessing it'll work in Kaos. Flash it from Recovery.
You can get it in the gingerbread rom thread
how to get this for Zachs 2.1 ROMs?

[Q] Custom roms?

Hi, Im not that good with all this root, custom roms and stuff. I did root my device though. My xperia x10. I got 2.1 rooted.
I read about everything with custom roms everywhere and everytime i read about android.
What is custom roms? does it enable me with my xperia to download a custom rom or custom version so i can get 2.2 or 2.3 even if sony ericsson has chosen to not update?
Thanks
Oh, And i downloaded something from connect-utb site.
What is it? is it some kind of new android version? it stood that it can be used on Xperia so... it was something XDAndroid
cant link. But search google for connect-utb
Custom ROMs enable you to have 2.2, 2.3 and so on, BUT with some drawbacks. Since the highest the phone can go is 2.1, the ROMs will be based on 2.1 and some things might not work (e.g. Camera,Videorecorder).
Try looking at the x10 developement section. Ask what you want to do in the q and a section and we can help u. But all the info is rite here on this site. U just have to look.

Which rom to use please? (sorry a horrible question)

I'm running Free X10 at the moment. I've been away for abotu a month and just checked the dev forum which appears to be swamped with roms and other things...
So... which is the latest, stable rom with a fully working camera and camcorder please (i.e. which rom should I be using to keep full functionality of my phone)?
Welp if you woulda asked yesterday i woulda recommened Trips MIUI but im gonna have to go with wolfbreaks ROM or Z's 2.2 if you want a smooth and complete ROM. Both are basically almost 100% stable.
There are a few 2.2 roms. I've only really used wolfbreaks and kxhawkins, both are stable, with full functionality. rdannar has a stable 2.3.3 rom(which I'm currently using as my baseband is 54 and don't want to change), very fast and stable but, as with all 2.3 roms, no camera.
I would have suggested tripnraver miui, but it seems to have gone missing

It basically depends on what type of rom you want.
2.1 roms
2.2 roms
2.3 roms
MIUI is the way to go if you like iphone like style. Currently you have few versions floating around and one of the best MIUI roms is not available anymore. These MIUI ROMS are again based on 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 versions of android. 2.3 is the lastest and greatest and is lamost fully working when it comes to MIUI. I think the one you can get from forum is rdannar's and formels and rdanner's MIUI roms
If you want the Android like roms, then there are lots of 2.1 roms are floating around. If you want to be with stock SE features along with a nice root and camera, then 2.1 rom is the way to go
2.2 roms which were intermediate (intermediate because now we have 2.3 roms) which was originally unstable but now is 100% stable thanx to all our important developers which may not (or may ) have all the SE features.Once you step to 2.2 and above roms, you will lose the SE syncml options (the one which syncs to SE site) and you will be dependent on the google sync mostly. Wolfbreaks and Rendiero's roms were extremely popular in 2.2 roms
2.3 roms which is the latest and greatest of all but not many roms to choose from. We have SuperAOSP, SuperARc and now HD MIUI from rdannar, Cyanogenmod7 from Jerpelea which are popular but you have many new chefs now so you can expect to see more ROMS
I am not biased towards any developer. I just look at the way the ROM functions and also these are my views. So dont use this as means of fighting. I personally like Android based style more than iphone style so i have tried only one or two MIUI roms so far (One was Trips MIUI and the other was formel's by rdannar (i think) were very stable and fun to use)
But personally, I like Android style a lot. So i was always juggling between Wolfbreak's and Scamble's rom before i completely shifted towards 2.3 roms.
Now i juggle between CM7 from J, SuperAOSP and SuperARC with greater affinity towards SuperAOSP since i find it very stable
Cobrato's 2.2 MIUI is awesome you should try it

Add-ons for stock Sony 2.3.3 ROM? Kernels etc

Hello,
I don't use my X10 anymore but just mess around with it as a hobby.
After trying many ROMs over the years, I want to keep on with the stock Sony 2.3.3 firmware, but was wondering what are the best add-ons for it (eg - FPS uncap) and where I can find them and how I can install them?
I am sure the @FeraVolt GB kernel used to work with Stock ROM and make it faster as long as you installed the drivers for it in recovery, but I can't seem to get this to work anymore??
Any info would be great.
