[Q] Possible to send an SMS through Kies? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I believe Kies Air (the wifi version of Kies) has the ability to send/receive SMS messages through the handset, is this possible with normal Kies connected via USB. Otherwise is there a way to spoof a wifi connection via USB?
Basically I'd like to use Kies Air at work by just plugging my phone into my PC as the office wifi and my PC are on different networks.
Thanks
Russell

I have a similar problem. I solved connecting my work notebook with SG2 via wi-fi "ad hoc". My notebook has connection with ethernet so wi-fi was not used. Unfortunately android has not native support for ad hoc wi-fi and needs a modified executable, you can chek this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1066102

[Q] Bridge USB ICS and Ad-Hoc WiFi

Hi Guys,
I am wondering if anyone new of an app or method that I can use to connect my phone to my desktop internet connection via USB and then send that internet connection out over WiFi. (The reasons why are rather complicated).
So basically something like WMWiFiRouter but using the USB internet connection rather than the 3G.
I am using an Xperia X1 with WM6.5
Thanks

Internet via bluetooth

Does anyone know if it's possible to get internet from my computer to the vibrant via bluetooth? To be clear, I do NOT want 2G/3G on my computer, I want to share my LAN connection with my phone. I'm deployed to Iraq and I have a wired connection to my computer that I want to share with my phone. I've tried connectify and similar options but they don't seem to work. I've got XP and 7 on the laptop, so if there's an option for either it'll work.
Thanks in advance.
Using bluetooth would be slow. You'll want to create an adhoc wireless network on your computer. Here's how to in XP:

Edit: This is, if you have wireless on your computer.

Click to collapse
Go to settings -> Wireless and network -> Tethering and portable hotspot -> Then select "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" - From this you can set up a Wi-Fi network that uses your mobile internet.
Once you've set this up connect to the wireless network via your laptop and launch the app called "Kies air". From there you can transfer files without the need of the usb connector...
To use DLNA you need a wireless network, i wouldn't recommend using the portable Wi-Fi hotspot for it.
Thank you very much Stylee32 this helps
hope i will get my WiFi router soon
Edit: I tried this solution. Got my PC connected to Mobile. But the url which Kies Air gave didnt work
Edit 2: Finally it worked. Thank you so much
No problem at all, glad i could help

Tether wifi via usb from mobile to tablet

Hi, I happen to be usually in a place where the network is mac filtered, so I can only connect with my mobile and not with my tablet.
I can't tether wifi to wifi, as it's not possible with the mobile.
The tablet (Pipo S3) doesn't has bluetooth. I haven't been able to change it's mac address, but it could solve the problem if I could find the way.
So, as bluetooth is not an option, the only thing remaining is doing it via usb. I've googled and found a lot of tether apps, but from android to computers, no from android to android via usb.
Does someone know how to do it? Thanks.
