Can't detect current (GPS)position - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Last month I used 'Fake my location' for 3-5 days.
After that I was uninstall it.
Yesterday I using Google Map, it didn't detect my current position.
It was display me last fake position.
How I solve this problem?

Have you made sure your satellite sync is still on? You can put the power control widget on a homescreen and tick it on. You can also turn it off and on in the settings but I don't remember exactly where, maybe privacy?
sent from muh googlabox

Give this a try:
Settings - Manage Apps - Maps - Clear Data.
If that doesn't work, uninstall updates and reinstall the map updates in the Market.
Worst case scenario, factory reset...

I already Turn GPS off and turn on again many times include uninstall 'My Fake location' too.
After I try clear Google map's data, it can detect my real location. But other app still can't detect my real location.
Thanks

Try fasterfix from the market ....your country server is probably wrong try us.pool.ntp.org if north america doesn't work

not work too....

You can do the same steps you did with Maps for whatever other apps aren't working too.

First clear the data of your other app. If that doesn't work, download "GPS AIDS" (I know dumb name) from the market.
That app (even the free version of it) has helped every phone that I've ever had GPS issues with (including the Atrix). The comments for that app speak for itself too.
Best of luck...

It shouldn't take a couple of days, it should update within about ten minutes, just make sure you have internet connection and rebooting may help

A location would help. If your location is listed someone local can try on their handset and then be able to tell you if the market is down or if you have a software issue.
Neumarkt Ontario ok for market and updates of apps.

Try moving next door. Seriously. I have that exact problem when I'm round my neighbour's house... market works, browsers work, but try to download an app and it just sticks at 2%... back home and it works fine! Oh, and it's not signal, as I have full bars in both houses.

I can download just fine on my phone, but it's easier to get on my computer and download from there. That's what isnt working.
Your ISP is probably using a new public IP address. Thus, your computer is recognized as out of the states.
Edit: if this is the case, it will go away by itself after a few days when the servers are updated.

Isp doesnt affect Android market, as if you go to market settings you will find your phone model and mobile service provider that you are using. Android market depends on that data. I can use russian proxies to download US apps and market wont block me till I am on US mobile network.

New Market Too Slow

This is going to sound really stupid but the new market (the tiled, dark one) is so slow it's unusable, regardless of which rom I'm using. Things will load eventually but I'm talking 4 or 5 mins per page to load. This is on my normal Huawei router.
By chance I used a different brand of router (at home, same line, same connection speed, etc) yesterday and market loads normally without any slowdown. Back to my own router and it slows right down again.
So my question is, what has changed in the new market that makes my router unable to load it properly? The old market loaded at normal speed, as it should. I can't change routers as the one I was using was just for testing purposes.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Try checking for router firmware updates, then try resetting your router.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've checked and it's on the latest firmware. Have also reset the modem but nothing changed. It's a Huawei H520b. I tried a D-link router yesterday and it loaded the marked perfectly.
It sounds like the new market uses some sort of different security settings or something, that my router can't handle. I'm not very techy so wouldn't know which settings to even look at!
Go into settings find the market and select uninstall updates. This will take you bacl to the previous version.
Then grab a program like Titanium Backup Pro and freeze the market updater in the list of apps and then you can stay on the previous version as long as you want...

Thanks, sorry to be a pain but I can't find anywhere to uninstall updates. No option for that, only clear cache. You did mean settings > applications > manage applications > market, or am I in the wrong place?
Much appreciated.
Try Freeze "Android Market 1.0" by Titanium... It work for me
my problem with the new one is it doesnt download more then one app at a time, in reality its better bc they will download faster but i like seeing them all at once lol

I don't have an option to uninstall updates...strange. I should have mentioned I'm not using stock, and I think the new market was included as standard with the Home Base rom I'm using.
I'm going to try to install the old market from an .apk file, see if I can revert back, then uncheck the update function, as suggested.
No big deal, I was just hoping there might be a setting I could change somewhere so I could use the new market.
Thanks for all your suggestions guys
That's a shame because for some on other custom ROMs, they can still use this method.
Oh well for anyone else that's interested. Settings->manage applications->market->uninstall updates.
This is the screen that you should see then and hit uninstall updates in the top right hand corner...

I hope somebody can give me some advice on this cos it's driving me potty, I keep getting notifications on my phone and they are in chinese (see screenshots), clearing them is no problem but I'd like to know if there's any way of blocking them, it's not a text or email, just a notification and a little picture of a star at the top of my screen, any suggestions welcomed thanks

The notification appears because you have installed an app with airpush advertisements in your phone.
Install this and do a scan on your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5icm9zbWlrZS5haXJwdXNoZGV0ZWN0b3IiXQ..
Then uninstall the aplication that came out with the result and rate developer with 1 star on google play. (this usually gets the developer to react, if alot of 1 star ratings are received)

Try "addons detector". However that's not a generic ad so it may not detect anything. You just have to go through your recent installed apps and running processes to figure out which app is the culprit.

Have you installed any apps recently right before you started getting the chinese notifications? That would probably be the culprit. I would start uninstalling recent apps and that might solve your issue

when you get the notification Spam don't remove it yet:
Settings > under system tap on {} Developer options > check USB Debugging
connect the phone using a usb to your computer
open adb shell
Code:
adb shell dumpsys notification
copy the output and save it to a text file, post it here
i'll tell you which app is spaming.
I FIXED MINE!!
the KEY: notification monitor function in addons detector
leave it on and wait a day or so till you get the notification
I used to get bunch of Chinese ads
addon detector showed me exactly which program caused it
it was a hacked version of game I have downloaded... got rid of it and the ad was gone...
thanks guys

[Q] Can´t download or update from market when on home wifi

Hello everyone !
I have this problem, when i´m on my home wifi i can´t download or update apps from google play altough i get the notifications about available updates.
When i click download or update is starts to downloading but it never shows percentage or any progress just the blue bar moving.
BUT on other networks it works just fine, only my home wifi is a problem (even though it worked well about two weeks ago) . I never use 3G or 4G.
I think it has something to do with my router but its just weird.
Do you guys have some suggestions what could i do ?

Hi
i also experience that.. but i think it's just a bug.
what i do is i turn off wifi and turn it on again.. redownload the app
i hope this helps
I also have this bug.. this started to happen after i updated camera firmware ( i know it doesn't have anything to do with it,but oh well)
I have tried to reproduce the bug and found that :
-if your wifi is off and you activate your mobile data, then disable it,when you activate wifi it will connect, but internet will work when he wants...only solution is reboot the phone
