Hi guys now 2nd init is working. Porting roms shpuldnt be that hard? Lol
I ported for the wildfire buzz using kitchen that was easy.
Atrix tho seems bit more difficult i extracted the sbf files and now got smg files. Do i have to make a sbf file or will update zips work?
Hows best to start? System dump of my phone place in an open working project using kitchen so i can get the zip signed
Then using kitchen port a rom to this system dump?
Any advice would be appricated thanks

I know on other phones it is a simple bootanimation.zip copy and paste, but the vibrant doesnt use that format. So what files do i need to replace?
Thank you

Need a little more info.
Are you stock (non)rooted?
Are you on a custom rom?
Most of the,if not all, custom roms accept bootanimation.zip. There are tons of them in the theme section. Also a tutorial or two as well on making them.

Actually the vibrant does support that...its just that the kernel must support it....its basically supported on all custom ROMs/kernels....not so sure of stock ROMs though...what ROM are you using?
Im on the 2.2.1 Rom just released i am on tapatalk so i cant recall the spelling.
I checked in system/media i couldn't find it. I found bootanimation but no zip.

I think you have to be on a custom ROM to utilize the bootanimation.zip
Hi,
When creating an update.zip do I need to include the update-binary?
- If i do, should I use one from another rom thats proven?
- If not, how do I go about getting/creating one?
Secondly, what compression should I be using when making my zip's? (I'm using winrar and win 7 x64 if it makes a difference)
Sorry but I'm asking because Ive been trying to use the android kitchen running under cygwin but the roms it creates just don't install. They all come up with status 0 error.
Any other words of wisdom?
USE no compression and grab the update binary from another roms zip.

I am in need of help creating an update.zip file for a new rom I'm working on.
I'm not sure how to build a rom flashing script or even sign the update.zip
lemme know if you got anything for me
Take another update.zip, replace your files/tree with the one there. Done.

Ok guys I'm almost ready to give up!
Here's my setup:
Ubuntu 12
Dsixdas kitchen
Using stock rooted nand backup as base
I decompile, make changes, then rebuild.
After I flash it I get no service or data but everything else works fine.
Are there certain files I shouldn't deodex?
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
