Having problems Rooting vibrant on 2.2 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, kinda noob here, im trying to root my vibrant on 2.2 with superoneclick root but i cant find the correct drivers. . When trying to open superoneclick root it directs me to choose a program to open it which i dont know which one . Getting desperate and need help please

Anybody???

Do what I do... revert by using odin back to 2.1 get z4 root and root it..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App

I cant even open odin is prompting me the same thing

Just curious... did you unzip superoneclick and then extract the files to a folder. If mot do that, and then run the. exe file as an admin.

Nope i didnt do that , but now i did thanks . So now wheb i hit root its says waiting for device and after a while it says not responding

make sure you put your device in usb debugging mode

Done that this is harder than i thought

close superoneclick. unplug your vibrant. plug device back in ( don't mount) make sure usb debug is on. Run the .exe again. I had to do it a couple times to root my wifes phone, but only once for mine.

[Q] Root on Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (Telus SGH-T959D)

Does anyone know how to root the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (Telus SGH-T959D)? I had root prior to my upgrade to 2.2 Froyo but now Z4root no longer works. It will go through the motions but does not result in root access after running it.
try this, it worked for me: SuperOneClick

Try turning off your virus scan before unziping superoneclick; on my computer it kept recognizing the rageagainstthecage file as a virus and deleting it.
hmmm still cant with my 959D and froyo
finally works, use super one click, unmount external AND INTERNAL sd cards

yup, worked for me too, thanks a lot
Worked for me too. Phone is SGH-T959D from Telus:
firmware 2.2
baseband T959TLJL3
kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2
build number FROYO.TLJL3
The trick is you have to unmount both the external AND the internal card, otherwise it fails. I couldn't find a way to unmount the internal card using the phone menus, so I had to download a free app from the Market called Widgetsoid2.x. This app unmounts both. Then I ran latest version of SuperOneClick (I used 2.2) and it worked.
Of course I had to install the USB drivers first and I had to put the phone is USB debugging mode
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S SGH T959D and I need to unlock it, but I have no idea how to do that. I have been reading different forums and it says the phone needs to be ROOTED first before it can be unlocked, no idea what that is or how to do that, this is my first Android phone, so I'm a virgin when it comes to this stuff, can anyone help me. Thanks. (preferably in plain English)
i rooted it using superONEclick but its very picky about the rom you have
i was on stock 2.3.3 gingerbread
had to enable usb debugging on and connect usb/phone

Uninstall the drivers
Download them again and make sure it says sanding mobile phone drivers

Uninstall any drivers/ or Kies you installed first 1 > Then,go to this link it has a video the drivers and the rooting app all in one place The video is excellent very visual on every step. This should provide all you need to resolve this problem
Next time remember to put Questions in the Q & A
You can try using the 64 bit driver, the zipped file if you can find it. Unzip it, don't install if, but from your windows device manager, manually install the driver for the unrecognized device and point it at the 64 bit folder you just unzipped. This does work on 32 bit systems, hope it helps.

Im out of options? Is there any other way to get your phone back to when it was shipped?
here is the reason why I need to flash:::
I got titanium and uninstalled some programs 37 to be exact. I'm getting all kinds of errors::android.process acore among others. So I did a factory restore to no avail. I still have superuser permission and I installed titanium pro. I can't reinstall these programs through batch and I backed up before I deleted them, and I can see them with a line drawn thru them. These are the programs I uninstalled-Help would be great

Try some of the suggestions in the above response. Also try different USB port (not through usb hub). In addition, many of these phones are not recognized in Odin with the "SGH-t959_Vibrant_USB_Drivers". Odin tend to be more successful with the Samsung Mobile driver which came with Mini Kies. GL

depending on your firmware theres a few way to root it
1.6, x10root.apk and universalandroot.apk
Just install em and root
2.1, at first there was z4root but SE patched it out, but i used superoneclick and it looped once and rooted straight away
or you could just flash your phone using Zdzihu method which installs a pre rooted 024 firmware

No need to worry about it.
Uninstall the drivers associated with the phone. Are you using Windows?
For XP: Go to start > Control Panel > System > Click on the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Find the driver for the phone. I remember it has a yellow icon, and the drivers name is a mix of capital letters
It's probably similar for Windows 7, but i wouldn't know.
Uninstall the driver associated with the phone, then reinstall by plugging your phone into the computer in download mode. It would help to uninstall and reinstall Odin as well, just in case.
If you get Odin to work, just work away like you would.
Thanks for your reply, i have uninstalled the drivers, but when i plugged my phone back in, the drivers are not being installed and i can not find them on the internet. Any ideas?
I know how i messed up, i completely forgot to root my phone before i started to flash, any ideas on how i can just get my phone back to its normal working everyday self?
Will i just need to get the device recognised by Odin then insert the Ops file and the I5500.tar file and flash it back to stock?
edit- managed to get drivers installed, now how do i fix my phone? Just flash the .OPS and the stock I5500.tar file?

I think it'll fail again if your phone isn't rooted. You can't get rid of the Computer-Caution-Phone image without succesfully using Odin.
You could try to flash the .tar and .ops file again. I can't see it working though unfortunately.
Any ideas then? Is there a way to root my phone via Odin or anything?

I've never heard of rooting your phone through the download mode or through Odin.
Maybe there's a file you can put on your phone through Odin which doesn't require root? I'll take a look around for you.
Thank you so much, i appreciate it, I'm 16, can't really live without a phone especially with college parties coming up in the next few days aha, I knew i shouldn't of risked around with flashing again!

Just thinking that Odin is a program which requires root so there won't be any file you can transfer when unrooted. I had a quick glance over at the Odin thread, and the first step is that you have to root your phone.
I'm sorry, but there's nothing else I can think of which might help. Maybe if somebody with a bit more knowledge/expeerience sees this thread, they might help.
Can Odin detect your phone?
Ah man, thanks anyway, yes Odin detects my phone, I'm trying to use SuperOneClick Root on my PC- Do you know any other Root software that works on PC?

I don't know of any others, but Superoneclick works fine for the Galaxy 5. Like I said, I've never heard of using it during download mode so just be careful with that.
If Odin detects your phone, have you tried just closing Odin and plugging out the USB safely?
Can't use Superoneclick as my phone isn't in USB Debugging and i obviously can't change that aha I have just tried that, no luck with the closing Odin and unplugging it, should i try installing CWM again or is that a bad idea?

It's a bad idea because it just won't work. Odin will crash again.
I don't know what to do I'm afraid.
Looks like my phone is shagged due to my own stupidity, I forgot to root it because my phone was previously rooted and it went back for repairs, then I completely forgot i didnt install Root access -.-
Do you think i can recover my phone or is it well and truly gone?
Well it's not like your phone is bricked or anything. It's just broken a connection to Odin and it won't boot until it's completed.
You could always return it for repairs again. Your warranty might be broken though.
If I happen to come across a DIY fix then I'll post it here.
Thanks for your help mate, i've decided to just send my phone back for repairs, buy a new phone (Probably a Blackberry for BBM and stuff with all my mates), and sell my phone once i get it back.I have gave up on Samsung mobiles.
Thank you.
Did you send your phone alredy? Uncompress the firmware.tar file and unselect "one package in Odin" . On the boot in odin select the boot file of the .tar and run odin. Maybe that will help

Hi, had the very same issue as you. Odin crashed just few sec after start. What I did ; uninstalled everything (Odin & files comes with it, KIES). Then restart PC, go to Samsung.com and download latest KIES, when downloaded go to Tools and check for updates. Accept/run them, when done restart PC. Now, read the steps bellow, and see the attached picture.
1. Extract Odin v4.28 and Ops File.zip I5500XXXX.rar
2. Open Odin v4.28,
- Select OPS tab: EUROPA_v1.0.ops
- Make sure Auto Reboot & Protect OPS selected in Option tab
- get this I5500XFJPQ from samfirware.com ( for some strange reason only this package worked!), download, and unzipp to folder called GT-I5500. In to this folder place Odin and ops as well.
- Make sure One Package selected in Option tab
3. Turn off phone, remove battery for 5second, put it back
4. Hold "Volume Down, Center button & Power button" in the same time to enter Download Mode (yellow triangle)
5. Connect to PC with USB cable
6. When the data line and the phone connection is successful, com port shows yellow in Odin
7. Press Start on Odin
8. Waitin & Pray!
9. PASS, its done!
*Hard reset after flashing *2767*3855#
*Check ur Phone Info *#*#1234#*#*
Note: my i5500 was rooted, so if was yours then ok. When pressing buttons you must see an yellow triangle! If you don't see it don't try connect. Remove battery for 3-5 minutes and try again...
Thanks for the replies, I've got my 'broken' phone in its box on my wardrobe, Carphone Warehouse have ordered me a brand new G5 to replace mine, I should get that sometime next week, but I'm buying a HTC Wildfire S pretty soon anyway!
Thanks for your help, I'd rather keep my broken phone well, broke aha.
Have you tried flashing twrp recovery then using cf-autoroot?

Did you try Superoneclick?
I rooted phone with MT6573 without problem and Unrooted it too. Should work for MT6575 too.
Im running Superoneclick v2.3.3.0 on win7. Im not an expert, but I did like this.
Connect phone on USB, make shure that you have debuging, start superoneclick and click on Root,
I think superoneclik will ask you to instal driver for mt65xx phones....and process will start, it will ask you to install busy box also, and its done after that.
Just tell me if you succeed, I want to buy same phone with totally same ROM, I want to know if its possible to root it.
not working, Superoneclick v2.3.3.0 just for android 2.3.x, thanks.
Ah no!
Ok,just write here if you succeed with anything so I know....
By the way, little of topic, did you try Skype on that one? Is Skype video working?
Thanks!

Dear aviator-hk,
Actually rooting chinese mtk65xx phone is difficult part. We have to try again and again with superoneclick.
Please download SuperOneClick, which is I am using http://www.mediafire.com/?c87n484114171u6
I have added motofail exploit with this.
Tricky part is rooting this phone with SuperOneClick
When superoneclick hangs on 7th step, do as per below instruction.
1. goto phone settings->applications->development->USB debugging uncheck it and recheck it again.
2. now click root again.
If not works, try a couple of time, again and again. you will succeed.
In this method, I have rooted lot of times.
Thats all, your phone will be rooted now, have fun.
Superoneclick 2.3.3.0 still hangs on 7th step, can not root.
I bought phone
same for me, also hangs on step 7, I tried many many times, same result.
On the side of superoneclick I can see its written something about android 2.2 and 2.3, maybe its trying to find directories which doesn't exist because its 4.0.3 android.
Did you also got version with 2Gb internal SD memory? Do you know how to move aplications to aditional SD which you can put in the slot. Applications menu showing only internal memory and internal SD card 2Gb as option to move aplication. 2gb is a lot for apps, but anyway is it not better to have an option to use additional SD card, feels more free....
I succeded!
Its a little tricky....
I used both superuser and one more program
First download root.exe program from
dropbox . c o m /s/6hy3kxhsr8eobid/Root.rar
extract it to desktop
then download usb drivers from
mediafire . c o m /?b4v3gen9735jj
You need to download only "MT6575 USB VCOM drivers.7z"
extract them to any place
Read first, and do later so that you dont miss anything
I don't know If you already tried to root with superoneclick and did superoneclick installed drivers for you? You can check that on device manager, when phone connected and debuging on you should see device "Android phone" and under installed driver something like "ADB compatible device".... and all that without any ! or ? sign. If you have that, jump over step 1. with superoneclick
1. Start superoneclick, connect usb and enable debuging on the phone, click Root! Program will ask you to install ADB driver for you, just click yes and proceed yes on any other question from windows.
superoneclick will hang on step 7 as usual. Just unplug usb and turn off superoneclick, you dont need it anymore.
2. Connect again usb cable to the phone. There must be several ways to do this but I did on this way....
after You connected USB cable start program ROOT.exe
I don't have any idea what is written in Chinese there, but just click ONES on left button(ROOT), it looks like nothing happens but....phone will turn off...and some message will appier again in Chinese on a root program, 3 words... and there is only OK button.Wait with this button.
Now when phone is OFF don't worry about it, look into Device manager on a PC and try to find something like MT65XX preloader driver, should be with yellow question sign next to it.Right click on it and choose update driver. Navigate to your drivers which you extracted before from "MT6575 USB Vcom Driver.7z" and choose folder for win7 if you use win7... Installation of driver should succeed. Phone will probably already start itself under time you installed preloader driver.... don't worry about that.
If phone is started now click on OK button on Chinese program and wait, phone will probably turn off itself again. You will get again Chinese message with 3 words and OK to click but wait with that. It takes little until phone starting itself again, just don't touch anything. After this final restart check phone menu, you should have phone rooted and super user installed if so, remove USB cable. If not, repeat last step.
It was little long explanation I hope you understand.
Now when I did that finally, Im wondering if in case I need to restore my phone and delete google account from it. How can I do it in an easy way? Is it safe to factory reset an rooted phone??

No,you dont need to have anything on the phone, just debuging on, and you need to have drivers installed on pc, for both when phone is ON and when phone is OFF
Tricks when you are using Supper click
if you are using windows 7 run super click as Administrator and when you are unlocking before it hangs remove usb cable and connect it immediately after it has finished installing busy box.
