Hi,
I would like to know if the SGS2 suffers from default noise.
Explanation: if you listen to very quiet music you here noise, but while increasing the volume of the noise wont increase.
How to test: plug your headphones in your SGS2 while it's playing music at the lowest possible volume - there are only two possibilities, you hear noise or you don't hear noise.
(I don't want to be mean, but people who listen always to loud music will probably not recognise the noise!)
I'm sorry if it was asked somewhere before - I didn't find anything regarding the noise!
Thx

Hello, did anyone find that the background noise of vibrant is very clear, when using headsets.
If you want to have a test, I think you can do as fellow.
1. Find a quiet environment, plug in your headsets
2. Open music player, turn the volume to 0
3. Play a song, you'll hear the background noise immediately
4. If stop the song, the background noise hold on for several seconds, then disappear.
What's the cause of this? Driver or hardware design? or just software.
So did anyone have some idear for solving this problem?
I have no background noise, try different head phones, maybe they are the problem.
I've heard it with iems in silence, same as what you described.

I use te headset comes from tmobile, factory headset.
Which headset are you using? and also rom and kernel.
I tested in several kernels and roms, all have this question.
It's what you get for listening to crappy MP3's use something better than MP3 preferably lossless

no, noise does not come from mp3. I use musicplayer just to take a example.
the noise comes when the dsp has outputs, and disappears when the dsp has no outputs
I am pretty sure you are hearing hardware static noise from the audio circuit. The sound quality of the headphone amp in the galaxy phones is better than most HTC phones, but sadly still falls short compared to an iPhone and many dedicated mp3 players. The static is even more evident with higher sensitivity headphones like the ultimate ears tripple-fis and the like.

Yeah I hear this also...if you don't hear it you're probably using cheap headphones.
I'm on MIUI, and just recently started using my phone has a music player with my headphones. The minimum volume on the phone is pretty damn loud, and most of the time I can't listen to it that loud. When I put the volume up it gets louder. I've tired just about every DSPManager setting I could find, nothing gets the volume any lower.
Is this just an issue with non-stock based roms? I know that the max volume issue is a non-stock issue (where the volume gets maxed at about 50% of the volume indicator).
It is a known issue for miui (I believe all miui) or cwm. I mpved out of miui because of that although I love it otherwise. Galnet miui also has the same issue.

Try out poweramp and its preamp gain setting on its built in equalizer.

I just downloaded "equalizer" whats difference between poweramp?
I'm definitely looking for "better sound quality" and "loud + clear"
because I was experiencing volume Loss (auto dimm, yet volume still at max?) during calls (or just low volume), sometimes audio just seems Low during music playback vs my friends phone?? why a difference.

Your problem is different than the OP's and would normally deserve another thread...
Anyways, poweramp is just for music playback, and if you don't know how to use an equalizer properly, I would recommend not touching it or you would make it sound more like crap. The difference is how much power the audio jack can put out and the impedance of your headphones, and that determines how loud it sounds on your end. All phones are not the same, however, you should search for the in call audio fix thread for a solution to your problem.
Well, I use my phone as my alarm and this simply will not do. I could live with the ringtone and notifications not playing through the speaker, but the alarm which is an mp3 absolutely must. Is there a way to fix this? Is this ICS or the gs3?

This is annoying as hell when I'm driving in my car plugged into the car's aux input... audio cuts out for a second and then my notification *pop* noise plays through the speaker, then transfers back to the car audio. Meanwhile, all the system noises like the little *bloop* noises it makes when pressing on stuff in the OS get forwarded to the headphones.
Why, Samsung? What is the point of this frivolous change from stock (oh yea... to your "Is this ICS or the gs3" question, it's the gs3) . There's no conceivable reason for it, and it's applied inconsistently.
There are a lot of things I'm liking about TouchWiz, but equally as many annoyances (like this).

Is this something that can be modified at a higher level or is this a lower level feature?
I output the music to my car speakers with the jack. There is some noise coming out of the background. Sometimes it will go away but most of the time I can hear it. Does anyone have the same issue?
batch problem
never heard it, maybe it's your music file's issues. or turn the volume down try again

I am sure it's not the music files because those are the same as the files on my evo 4G LTE. When I output the music with my evo, it's fine without noise. Even I turned the volume down, there is still some noise (like bad connection noise) coming out from my right speaker. Thanks for the tips, I guess I am the only one who's having trouble. Maybe I should just exchange it.
yeah, exchange it , that's the best way to solove this
Whenever notification, video, music plays my Redmi note 3 (Qualcomm) makes HISS (the sound radio makes if u dont tune into any channel properly) sound. If i hear closely i can hear the music but its very low and the HISS sound is there. Its literally destroying my life, i cant wake up from bed in the morning and am missing classes because i cant set the alarm it just makes hiss noise. Its even makes the noise while i am on the phone talking to someone. Please help me i will remember your username till i die i promise. :crying:
I don't understand, it just hiss or it does sound with the hiss in the background? Sound like a bad contact if the sound is really loud. Did you try to flash some audiomod to find some change in the sound?

Sound with the hiss (sound 20% hiss 80%) . Weird thing is i put the phone to silent mode all volumes are zero, then playay a youtube video. it starts hissing automatically.
Yeah need to wait 10 more hours then i can unlock by bootloader officially. If that goes ok then i will try some audio mods/ custom roms. thanks for your reply tho.
If its that loud it's probably a hardware issue imo, but i can be wrong. Good luck!
