It is possible. Just flash the CM7 rom. It's in Cyanogenmod Settings > Tablet Tweaks.

I use cm7 with status bar on the bottom and I love it so much more this way. Its perfect.

don't know about everything, but @LayherDaddy and @Cyanogen just tweeted that 3G/4G is working for #thunderbolt as of about an hour ago....

I think the "best rom" is ur preference. Depending on what u r looking for, there are many roms in the forum that are great. But to ask for the best....the best is all of them as the devs put their best work out for the community. You need to read and flash until you find one your happy with, because my best will not be someone elses best.
