[Q] DLNA - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i'v got a server with DLNA (i use it with my samsung TV). I tried to listen to the music trough DLNA and it works but when i try to open any kind of video (mkv, avi, mp4...) it says that the format is not supported... what can i do? Thank you guys.

I have the same problem. Very few items will load and give an error message.
The only video I have been able to watch from my library is The Goonies.

Great movie ;D ahhah so... nobody has the answer? ;D

I think it depends on what streams the server can support. the video goes from the phone to the server to the tv so the server must support it.
I have an sgs2 and a non-dlna samsung tv. I just got a WD tv device and it supports all the formats you mentioned.
So upgrade the software on your server or get a new one.
Cheers
Paul

If i use the DLNA from my Samsung TV it works! So i think that the server's configuration is ok, but if i try to play a video on the sgs2 it doesn't work... is it anyway a server's problem?

[Q] Samsung Allshare (Or alternatives) on NookColor?

My primary phone is a Galaxy S and I'm in love with the Allshare app and haven't been able to find any comparable apps in the market.
I've (unsuccessfully) tried to install Allshare on the NC, so that's not an option as far as I know.
I'd likely something a bit like VLC Stream and Convert but for DLNA or UPnP.
Can u tell us what it does?

It's an app similar to Apple's Airplay which lets you stream videos/music/pictures from your PC to your Android device.
The new gmote is awesome for that. I've being using it for the past couple of days. And the setup is simple
Nook Color via Xda App
subsonic does similar; it's supposed to also stream video but I had problems with the resulting flash. Audio is fine.
Allshare is a DLNA client and I think also a DLNA server. I haven't been able to find a good solution to replace this on my Nook Color. It works great on my Samsung Epic 4g streaming video.

Gmote only works over wifi.

This is a remote desktop app but supposedly is high enough bitrate to stream video.

This is another DLNA server but it's audio only

DLNA
I have been using 2Player on my Nook Color. It is in the Market. "Karmaware" so you pay the developer for a key if you like the software and want to send something their way. No nags. No ads.
yeah i love allshare on my galaxy, nothing ive found is quite as good, i personally use it as a server, it throws my pictures, music, movies to my samsung blu ray player on the fly, it also works on samsung wifi tv's (as well as sony tv's) (ive been playing at my second job @ best buy)
funny thing: samsung tv's ask if you want to display the content, and sony's dont, security issue imo for people who have open networks as i can throw anything up on your tv that i want
Twonky Mobile is a DLNA streaming app for android. You can use it as a source or a client.
Twonky Server would also work if you only want to host content on the nook.

And it's free, awesome.
I use Twonky all the time for sharing stuff to my PS3. Didn't realize it could act as a client as well. I'll have to try that out. Thanks!

Yea, I have no idea. Only dug it up by accident going to Twonky's site trying to stream stuff from my mac to PS3.
I haven't tried it on a nook but AndroMote works great to push the content from a server (twonky) to a DLNA device. It's a lot like AllShare just doesn't serve up it's own content.
Check out iMediaShare, too.

Stream movies from Phone to Samsung TV wireless? (How to)

Hi guys, just bought a Samsung smart TV and I wanted to know if and how could I stream movies from my phone to the TV Wireless.
I'm currently running Cm9. If there is an app required can someone upload it please.. thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
You need all share to stream stuff on your smart tv. I don't know if all share works with CM9 though. All share is included in the stock Rom, so maybe if you ask somebody he/she will extract it for you do you can try it on CM9
it works on stock
Dont know about CM9, but with the stock rom, you just need to make sure your TV and Phone are connected to the same wifi and then you play your file on your phone. A symbol at the top of the stock player shows a 'choose your player' dialogues and then you choose your TV. Its starts playing either instantly or with a prompt on your tv, depending on your tv setup. I have mine set to auto accept. Works with photos and videos. I have tried with 1080p movies and it works without a problem.
Tv is LG LM670T. 3d smart. its gorgeous
I think most recently manufactured tv hs dlna.
Just search your tv model on Internet then you should be able to find out.
If so, then download bubbleupnp app from play store. You can either set up another server on your computer, which I do, using plex server, which you can download for free for your pc. Or you can use your phone as the server as well.
You can control all the streaming from your pc to your tv or phone to tv right from the bubbleupnp app. Very cool. If you install the extra bubbleupnp server on your computer, you can even stream remotely. Very easy to set up and very cool. Real cool.

If I understand well, you have two options: (1) stock Samsung rom and AllShare Cast (it needs Samsung framework, hence CM will not work) or (2) use DLNA (check if your TV supports it, but I guess so) and one of the apps mentioned above (which will also work in CM as it should support DLNA).

[Q] make my ps3 or tv recognize and play media from my phone over wifi

My PS3 and my smart tv pickup my windows computer over wifi enabling me to show pictures music and videos on it. Im assuming this is a windows feature that allows it to show up like that. Is there any type of app that can fake the tv I to thinking my phone is a wi dows media?
I may be using wrong technology terms here but hope what I am saying makes sense
Hey,
There are many apps for that in Google Play, the technology is called "DLNA", just look for that in Google Play.
I use imediashare for displaying videos and pictures on my Sony TV. But with this app you normally send your media to the TV, and not the other way round.
Just try it!
Greetings,
Phil

[Q] Throw not working

Hi everybody,
I can't make throw work between my Tablet S (4.03 r5a) and my Sony Bravia KDL-32EX405. Everytime I try to play a music file or a video file I get the "cannot play track" message on the tablet.
I already checked the config on the TV and the tablet appear as a recognized device. It is not a matter of file compatibility as I can play the exact same files from my computer through DLNA.
Any idea?
Thanks!
Harerton
it could be the your tv does not support certain file format, happened to me when i tried the throw function, i was using an ex720 series tv, does the tablet show up on your tv`s registered devicelist?

Sony's KDL-32EX405 is extremely limited in its support of file formats via DLNA and USB. This is common for early HDTV designs and I suspect it is the source of your problem.

As I said, the tablet appears as a registered device in the TV settings and I can access the exact same files stored in my computer from the TV, so it does not seem to me a problem of compatibility!

I just discovered that "play to" in Windows Media Player is also not working (the file was a MP3).
Playto works for me, but I have a samsung smart 3d tv. Try upnplay from the market, works quite well.

when I want to play video from my PC's media server (mezzmo), it just FC
can someone upload version from MP lite please?
Just find Skifta apk on the web. It's free.
For subdirectories you need proper server. Try PS3 Media Server. Just don't forget to setup your LAN IP in network you want to broadcast in settings, as it broadcast just for single network.

Mezzmo is imho better media server,I had PS3 MS and it didn't work as it should and I was not able to play movies on TV via it and via mezzmo it works excellent...I want good DLNA client for mediapad that will be able to stream 1080p movies
