[Q] Slide in keyboard animation? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, my superbly loved xda SGSII community.
...
I searched for it, but maybe I am just not cut out for the job of searching something so simple.
...
Can someone direct me to how I can get the Slide in Keyboard animation. I've seen it on many videos, that this is possible, searched the marketplace and this forum, but couldn't find it anywhere.
...
If someone could look in to this?!?!
...
Many thanks in advance.

Im not sure I know what you mean???
Can you post a link to said video ti show what you mean???

Simple...
you know, when you tap on a text box to enter text, the keyboard just pops up, like BAAAM! But there is a animation, that the keyboard gently slides in from the bottom... DON'T WANT TO SAY THAT, but kinda like the iPhones keyboard slides in from the bottom.

Settings->Display->Animation->All animations?
My keyboard kinda slides up and I haven't done anything special to have it that way...

Hello,
I'm having an issue (I am not rooted), when I check Fancy input animations in Spare Parts, nothing happens with the keyboard, it stills pops up from nowhere without any animatoin :-( (even after reboot)
How should I do? I'm nearly dreaming of that keyboard animation :L
Thanks in advance ;-)

I would also like to know~~~~~

Why doesnt Droid X KB work on our devices?

Just wondering why the font is so small. Coming from a L0Lphone Im used to the multitouch as I type and while I love the HTC IME, Id gladly have the MT capabilities.
I've tried and loved that keyboard on the nexus and it does work way better, font is legible. Wondering though, how do you benefit from multitouch? I type rather fast, I haven't noticed any difference.
with the HTC IME, the keys are responsive and dont lag, but I often move too quickly overlapping keypresses constantly. Without MT, the keys arent always recognized. While the font is legible, its freaking small and a pain if Im searching for a character I dont immediately know the location of on the KB.
Mostly Im wondering if there is anything we can do to make the font render properly
I agree it would be nice to have this working as it's one of the better free keyboards. I ultimately caved and purchased SmartKeyboard Pro. It's just as fast the as Droid X keyboard but with more features. The only thing that isn't quite as good is auto-correction but its still better then the stock keyboard for that.
Yeah, the droid KB is the best out, but I was wrecking my eyes trying to read the symbols.
I'm using the HTC IME Keyboard, which is much slower than my fingers and fumbles text quite a bit. I'll deal with the annoyance just to keep my eyes in good condition.
The keyboard has mutlitouch. Press and hold a key the press a second key. They both register the touch.

Instead of everyone else in this thread who just completely ignored your question, I have to agree with you. I'm trying to get the thing to work by just editing the .xml files in the .apk, but it's much more difficult than I first thought. I will get back to you if i make any progress.

I have no idea whether this works or not but the people at this blog got it to work on the Samsung Galaxy S so it might work on the Vibrant. Check it out:
Code:
megaupload. com/?d=8BWYGDTQ
I'm not allowed to post links so I placed a space between the download link so remove that and you should be good to go.
Here is the website where I found the download link:
Code:
android.hdblog.it/ 2010/06/26/tastiera-multitouch-per-android%20-arriva-il-porting-del-droid-x%20/
Here is a video showing the keyboard (check at 3:17):
Code:
youtube.com/ watch?v=47T3MGcygJA
boo, still doesnt work. Small letters for the lose
I'm more interested in the EVO's keyboard. It has the arrows right there on the keyboard. Coming from a G1 with a trackball, I find it hard to tap between the letters where I have to fix my error (or autocorrect's error). I know the HTC_IME mod has the option to use the volume rocker as left/right movement, but those aren't the easiest to push when typing in landscape.
you guys do realize that the Samsung keyboard included with the phone is multi touch right?
It's a nit pick, but I don't like the Samsung kb auto correct bubble popping up and down all the time ha-ha

Moderatior please cancel. I posted this wrong
I could not express what I wanted
I saw multitouch . In the past I thought it referrred to browsers . Now I see it in the same sentence as keyboards. so I was confused and didn't know how to ask. U can PM me the answer if you like
I shake a lot, Maybe terets, so I like speech functiion of the HTC but I really liked the Nexus Keyboard. Any recommendations
but like I said, I am not a developer I could not express it. You can delete it. IF you wanna pm me, I would love it
I like having hepatic feedback, but not vibrate on my keyboard. That's why the Samsung one is a no go

[Q] 2 Questions for Galaxy Ace S5830 ! HELP !

Hi Guys
Not very sure about all these Mods at all, it took me long enough to work out how to get Villains Rom onto my Ace, but I eventually managed a few weeks ago and all is well...
My only problems are, (I have no idea on adding / all this code talk) I need a simple way to get Haptic feedback on my Ace, I just wanted to install an App and this would sort it etc
I dont think I could add this any other way, or via a Theme install etc, I have read loads on here but it is all jargon, i'm lost....
The other thing, when i'm typing I have no auto correct for my words etc
My little Wildfire S showed words to pick as you typed etc, this Samsung keyboard layout is pretty poor etc, how can I get something similair to the HTC keyboard layout, again something simple to download / install....
I have hunted everywhere and still have no idea how to change this....
Apart from that and the SOD problem, I dont use Wifi much anyway, all is OK...
Can anyone give it to me in simple words lol
Thanks
maxmix
Well firstly for your haptic feedback jsut go to market and download 'KickBack'. Then go to Setting->Accessibilty tick the right boxes. But by personal experience i would say that the haptic feedback of ace is BAD at default. Somebody should tweak it right.
Secondly, get GingerBread keyboard (Steve Lin) from the Market. Thats the best for your use. In two weeks you will be able to type without seeing (Dictionary )

I already downloaded like 20 different ones and they all don't work at all. I enabled them and tried to use them in dolphin mini and messaging and by simply holding the keyboard pop up button. It only activates the stock cm7 keyboard. I went into keyboard options and selected the keyboards and when I go to messaging and open keyboard it's the cm7 one. When i press the settings key it only shows the cm7 keyboard...
thanks
You have to long press a text box and choose input method... this is fundamental android options...

Yes, I'm fully aware of that function. However the only method that is allowed is the default keyboard option. Know of a specific keyboard app that is bigger, nicer, ans easier than the stock cm7 keyboard that works on all system apps and dolphin mini?
Thanks
First "Enable" then "Long Press" ...If your phone cant enable more keyboards, you might as well throw it out the window for an iPhone now.
My CM7 has like 5 different working keyboards

Please don't take this the wrong way...
If you download a keyboard.. for example the "Gingerbread Keyboard" from the market, (Which is the one I use and looks much nicer than stock and is resizable to fit your needs). Then you go into the settings menu and enable this keyboard from the Language/Keyboard options menu. Then you go into a text message or something and longpress --> input method.. you WILL see two keyboards there, one Android keyboard, and the other will be your downloaded keyboard...
If you choose the downloaded one, it will systematically
change your keyboard across all apps within android to that one...
This is what I was speaking of... and this WILL do what you are asking...
If this is not clear please let me know..
^^ What a nice guy you are

Just tried downloading gingerbread keyboard. It says package file was not signed correctly. I'll try closing market and try again. I'm running the latest cm7 for the atrix.
Thanks
I installed hackers keyboard and it doesn't show up in the input method list. Trust me i've done this so many countless times on none cm7 roms. Just never tried it in cm7. I believe it will not work. I don't like that comment above where the guy seems frustrated explaining it to me. I already know exactly what to do. I am doing everything 100% correctly. However because of the fault of cm7, will not allow any other input method other than stock to show up in the input method field. Please confirm.

By any chance have you flashed any kernels?
May be that if so...
Also, try reinstalling the rom if it's not too much trouble..
My last time I loaded CM7.. certain widgets would never show up in the widgets list...but after I flashed a second time, it would work.. Its real finicky.

Not frustrated, just *Confused* When you go into "Settings-->Launguage and Keyboard" after you install a new keyboard, do you see your new keyboard there and if so is it checked?
I have never had or heard of this issue, that was my only concern.

Or just use this APK, its the one I am using right now
(Here was a nice tuturial in the OP here for changing keyboard http://www.spacetimestudios.com/sho...yboard-for-your-qHD-HDPI-MDPI-Android-devices)
I figured out what I was doing wrong. I have to only select 1 keyboard at a time even know it lets u select several at once. Kind of weird. Anyway Gingerbread fixall is pretty damn solid and I like it a lot. Not quite as amazing as the keyboard on Hyperdroid HD2 roms but it's a lot better than stock.
THANKS BRO
BTW - I pulled the latinIME.apk from the Hyperdroid hd2 rom and corrected permissions and I get force closes after reboot. Maybe it's because it's not QHD so it simply won't work. I wonder how easy it would be to port it over? I really love how that hyperdroid hd2 keyboard looks and it's the easiest to use.
Later
I noticed that if the keyboard installs as the same name as a keyboard you already have it will only show one when you long press. I have found that if your third keyboard has a unique name it will show as a third choice ... but I'm glad you got it worked out, I like the qhd one in my last post, it installs as 3vo keyboard and is kinda awesome transparent!

Hehe, I was thinking the same thing, but decided to just download them all and take a look myself. Install is super easy: download, select like any app install, done!
Then just see sublime's post for the instruction on enabling them. Cycling through them all took like 10 seconds.

Hidden apps?

Maybe I'm just slow but I've noticed a few apps built into this phone that are hidden from the Sense launcher but not when I use the AOSP gingerbread launcher. I've seen Fb Chat, Quick lookup, car mode, mirror, and I'm sure there are others. Does anyone know why these can't be accessed from the Sense launcher? It seems really weird to me haha.
You can access some apps like mirror and car panel if you hit the bottom right search button from any screen and type "mirror", for example. You can then tap on the app there. I believe facebook chat is only available as a widget...
Is there a list of these hidden apps or apps not seen by sense?
I don't know... Good question. It would be great if someone can post them here. I wonder what other goodies they are hiding.

Just do a search in your phone for 'Chat' and you find Fb Chat.
Fb Chat comes up. Open it.
Winning.
The only other one that I saw not mentioned was "SIM Toolkit." When I tried to run it, a message popped up, stating that "SIM Toolkit is not ready."
I have noticed that in both ADWLauncher EX and Launcher Pro Plus, you can put a kinda cool camcorder icon on your home screen but it doesn't show in Sense.

I'm still looking for the answer to this. I just hit search, type fb, and open it.
Then to go back into it, just pull down the notification bar, and tap it again when I need.
I don't even know how to make sure it stays in memory!
The Fb Chat widget put my phone into an infinite bootloop and I had to reset my phone. So I'm not using that thing again.
ya it would be nice to be able to use quick lookup and flashlight in my quicklaunch think on lockscreen
You can use the app Any Cut to make a shortcut. I've also read you can do it with a file explorer. I did it with Any Cut.

For me the most welcome change is... *drumroll*.. folders! lol. The drag and drop kind, the ICS imitating kind. Mmm. I love the ease of use with these folders and I had tried all kinds of programs and such. After installing ICS on my Captivate and using the folders I was just not satisfied with anything less.
The "trash can" you are talk bout.. Is that the "drag, hold, drop to unistall"? Because it is still there, hasnt gone anywhere with this update. If you are not seeing it check your settings.
In addition to the ICS folders there are other random ICS features/thingies built into the new ADW EX. I love love love the new update, disappointed to hear you dont.
EDIT: Oh and you asked about the hidden dockbar.. I never used it myself but I think I read in the "setup" for the new ADW EX that it is still there, it just behaves differently now since you can scroll the dockbar (on phones, on tablets you wont have to scroll because there will be enough room for all the icons).

One new bug btw. Set 5 icons on main dock bar, rotate in potrait and landscape, and tell me why this new update ****ed up the order. Previous version did it correctly, this version orders them differently
im sure liking the new one... tho one thing that is bugging me is i cant seem to edit the icon in the dock... been trying to get the ICS app draw icon there but i cannot edit the icon pic.... hmm
honestly I'm using this ICS 3d mint theme on the market for CM7 with the new ADW and its awesome it really looks beautiful and also the new scrolling dock bar really helps get rid of all the annoying widgets that are memory hogs.

Keep the threads clean/non-profane. And, don't mess with people... just report their posts. Also, why the heck isn't this in "Themes and Apps?" You know better, guys.

These are the post I like most. First, you have a guy passionate about his phone and the app. Secondly, you get a good explanation/changelog about the new version, and C. You find the answer to simple questions to things like settings because people are so annoyed by the post. Don't kill the guys passion, just tell him why he's wrong so we can all benefit.
