Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knew a secret as to changing the double tap function of the home button? It starts the voice activation program but I want it to open the inbuilt task switcher (yes I know you press and hold the home button to do this, but it takes slightly too long).
Noone?
Anyone?
No takers?

I'd also like to know.
I want to solve it too
From what I could remember, there is an app called QuickDesk which creates another layer for your widgets and shortcuts. Believe it also has an option to display the running apps.
Since Samsung has registered the double click home button shortcut, not sure if you could overwrite it with this app.
Quick Desk Pro

Quick Desk Beta - not sure what's the difference

Come one guys. A lot of us need to change that function. The voice program is no use to me.
It won't be possible to change it , unless you guys ask Cyanmod to implement it at root level.
I am sure they might be able to change the way how the hardware buttons react to certain softwares
CyanogenMod nightlies don't have voice control set on double press, so you can use the above mentioned third party apps.
Bump! I'd also like to know this tip if possible

Hi!
It struck me the other day,
that instead of placing your shortcuts on your home screens
why not assign a hardware button to them?
I though it would be very nice just pressing W on the keyboard instead of going through my contacts when I want to call my wife.
But I can't find a single app capable of doing such a thing.
The closest thing I found was Hbuttons for WindowsMobile
Anyone got any suggestions ?

The web site you linked to says to go to Settings > Application settings > Quick launch to change shortcuts.. but there's no such option on the x10 mini.
Also, loads of the shortcuts on that site are SEARCH + $KEY..
there's no search button on the x10 mini either...
what we need is a key mapper or something like they have on the snesoid emulater. if someone could extract it, maybe it'll work
Really? Sorry about that. My phone is in the service center right now and I just read that article a while back and thought it would be the same.
Would love a solution for this, it's a feature i miss atm from hbuttons

Hi,
I've got Galaxy S2 on Android 2.3.4 (Basband I9100XXKH3 Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKH3-CL479037 Build GINGERBREAD.XXKH3)
There's a problem and another niggle I have.
The problem is that when I double-tap the home key, I get the Voice Talk asking me "what would I like to do?"
I want to disable this.
It seems that sometimes this happens by accident - either because I accidentally double-tap or because the hardware/software mis-interprets a single press as two. Read about this somewhere else on the web too.
All I really want to do is for double-tap to just return me to the home screen.
The slight delay that occurs when pressing the home key I'm told is because of the double-tap feature.
I've tried a few methods I found on line but none were actually solutions.
I found an alternative launcher but it turned out that the fix was an irreversible solution, which I don't want.
Surely this should not be that hard!??
How can I disabled the voice talk or double-press on the home key?
Can anyone help or advise?
Thanks in advance,
D
You need root to remove system apps.
You can use apps such as Titanium Backup Pro to remove or freeze the app, or use a file explorer such as Root Explorer to remove. Another easy way is to flash a custom ROM with that particular "bloatware" removed. These methods all require root access.

Not sure where I saw this option once but it removed double click. Tested it and it worked then reactivated it.
Maybe Google 'galaxy s2 remove double click'.

Check either this thread on how to do the edit yourself:

Or use JKay's Theme + Settings app

double tap a different behaviour
Awsome took me a month to find this answer, went back to twlauncher and the darn thing wasnt there anymore. Now is there anyway i can give the double tap a different behaviour? without rooting the device otherwise away goes my warranty.
OK... I have got Tasker, I`m trying to make a shortcut to talkback, or accessibility that can be accessed from double pressing the home button.
I have tried xshortcut to try and use the capture feature on it, but I get a permissions error.
I could enter it in the intent field manually I suppose, but what would I have to type as an intent to get to talkback to either toggle on or off, or to get just the the talkback screen?
I have looked and looked. The closest I am getting is com.android.settings.Subsettings.
Yes I am a noob and yes I am out of my depth, but I am just trying to make a talkback toggle for my partially sighted wife.
Any flaming/suggestions welcome
EDIT: In an ideal world, the Home2 shortcut app would work, as you can select a shortcut in this app, so I would make an accessibility shortcut with Anycut, and use it with that, but SGS2 isn`t compatibile with Home2 shortcut, and advanced home button app cannot select shortcuts

any update on this?? Am also trying to figure out the same thing for galaxy s and an android tab..
Closest I have got is, because Home2 doesn`t work on TouchJizz, you install some kind of AOSP rom then it works faultlessly.
The closest shortcut you can make is getting to the accessibility page, this is does either through Nova launcher actions (which I thinik is similar to anycut) or use Anycut itself!
Talkback needs an update...
Same here. I emailed the developer of spiel and he says a direct shortcut can't be made as Google limits this!

Hi!
I should probably start by pointing out that you need the Xpose Framework installed to use this! Click here for the Xpose APK and more information about it
I've been looking over the Xpose Framework recently and I've become really impressed with it. So in learning it, I went ahead and corrected a few of the things I didn't like about the stock TouchWiz ROM on our Note 2's. I thought I'd go ahead and share this mod because I think I'm not the only one who prefers google voice search over S-Voice. The best bit, though, is that long-press search is just a regular Intent that any app can answer, so you're not locked down to Google voice search either!
I've attached the HoldHome APK in the post below.
One of the other things I managed to 'correct' via Xpose was that snoopy SysScope app, incidentally. I'm a bit concerned about releasing that one though, for obvious reasons.
Hope you guys find this useful :fingers-crossed:
File attached in this post.
Will test this out after work. I have been using Home2Launcher, but would like not to... expect an edit around 2AM EST.
EDIT - unfortunately it does nothing for me, double press had no response. Disabled the home2launcher, rebooted after activating module, no luck...

Hmm. Did you disable the the S-Voice activation on home press setting in the SVoice app itself? (Menu button in the SVoice app -> Settings) You need to have that setting enabled so the mod can hijack the intent it generates.

Ah, there we go then. This is designed for the stock roms where S-Voice pops up if you double press the homebutton. Custom Roms would be too varied for me to target
Thank
It also gives option to other voice dialer like cyber on voice command,
Or can configure to voice calendar too.
Thank you.

Im running stock touchwiz on my Note 2, with the Xposed framework and I can't get this to work. The module is there and enabled. I have nova launcher installed but removed all gestures. I have disabled s voice option as you stated above.
Holding the home button simply brings up the multitasking menu. Double press does nothing now that I have disabled it in the s-voice settings.

Have you remapped the long press search? Long press home and you should see a magnifying glass. Hit that button and select Google Now.
Where do I remap the long press search? Like I said holding the home button simply brings up the multitasking menu. Double press the home button does nothing now that I have disabled it in the s-voice settings.
When you long press the home button and the multitasking menu comes up there should be 3 buttons at the bottom. One is a trashcan, one is to check the RAM and the middle button should be a magnifying glass. Hit that and set Google Search as your default. Here's two screenshots to show you before and after. It goes from magnifying glass to the Google logo.
Thanks works great for me ..t mobile note 2
Working as the dev says. Thanks

Suggestion : upload your module onto the repo website so that it appears in the "downloads" section of Xposed 2.2...

You got it wrong... "s voice option" needs to be enabled.
Then next time you double click the home button, instead of having SVoice, you get a choice of apps which can react to a "search longpress" event (in TouchWiz ROMs, "double click the home button" = "search longpress").
For me, I could select among phone, widget locker, go sms, google now, secure settings,...
Select the app you want and click "this time" or "always" depending on what you want.
Done!
Very nice module!

Maybe I will try this out - could you set it to perform a 'secure settings' function, instead?

It seems so. But you need the PRO version of Secure Settings (which I don't have, so I cannot fully test).
Doesn't work work me. I still get the G icon instead of the magnifying glass. Svoice is enabled too.

What magnifying glass were you expecting? And where? "Long press search" is totally different than "search"...

This is the direction i'm following and i do not see the magnifying glass to set google search.
^
If you already have the G icon then you already have Google search... You don't need the magnifying glass. The magnifying glass comes up when you have S Voice disabled and nothing mapped to the search function. Disable S Voice and then use this module. Do you understand what this module is for?
Since KitKat has been released Android has a new setting to allow us to use a "battery saving" version of location. I am wondering if I could actually control this setting using Tasker. Example would be only when I open maps do I want to use the "High Accuracy" version. I can not seem to find this in Tasker as there has not been a new version since KitKat. Is there another way of doing this? Script? Etc?
Thank you all
Best Regards
No ideas all? Bumping because this is a busy thread. Lol
It can be done with "input tap <location>".

Unless there is a way to pull down the notification drawer that will be a lot of taps, tap home, tap app drawer and so on. I'm wondering if there is a better way.
I got it working using secure settings, just use secure settings, gps, on or off and it changes the location settings.
