is the price on this phone ever going to go down, because 7-800 dollars is high, but with the warranty and taxes it goes over the roof, anyone have a clue if the prices is a marketing heist and will drop or will it stick?
More customers than phones at present so it will stay same level and in fact price has gone up since i bought mine .£399 PAYG now £480 .
It actually worked out near enough the same price as i had paid for SGS 1 .
Warranty who pays for Warranty Samsung offer two years warranty .

It's not that this phone is really expensive it's that quantitative easing has diminished to value of the dollar, the phone won't get much cheaper unless the fed stops printing money, if you look at the price of the phone in real money (ie gold) so can see that the phone is actually about half the price the sgs1 was at introduction!
No. I am, however, very rich. Quality costs. Up the workers!

This is a top of the line luxury good. It's hardly your daily bread and water, you really shouldn't expect to be afford everything you want.
And you really shouldn't buy a new phone PAYG, you should always buy it on contract so it's the same price and you don't have to pay now.

Really.... wouldnt you rather buy the phone for £500 pay £10 a month for a tesco mobile sim (500min,500texts and unlimited net). And then sell the thing in 2012 Q1 when the SGS3 comes out...
If i have 500quid cash i would buy the phone, this will probably be the last phone i have on contract. Look after it and sell it for top money when the next uber phone comes out

750 is really expensive for a phone, but after all living expenses + dinners paid, i get about 1k to spend a month... so basically no breakfast, no lunch, no alcohol (that i pay for *hint hint coworkers who own me favors*) for me for the month

Who says I can't still do that lol! I paid £540 for a 18 month contract including the phone along with 600 mins, unlimited landlines, 500 texts, "unlimited" 1700kpbs HSDPA internet when the handset new should have been £500. And the phone itself came unlocked and unbranded.
I can just sell it, terminate the contract and start a new one when the SGS3 comes out!

Make that 3 of us!
I was hppy to pay 429 pounds + freight + taxes. NZ$ 1200 all up.
But if you ain't got the money yeah well it's expensive. Iphone's even dearer !!
Enjoying phone by the way and happy with what I paid.
I got it free with me new contract but it was £399 over here for a while, the US are just used to getting phones cheap compared to us in the UK so I guess we got it lucky this time lol
About the same price that we pay here. The iPhone4 32GB was over US$1000! It will hurt now that you are paying the actual global price and not the reduced price that the US's great market volume is able to command. Still, it is a great phone for $700 though.

and they wont for a long time. anyway it's time that european get the goodies first jk
but in us there will be the evo 3d exclusive and it will be pretty popular as well as the evo 4g was. we got the european version of the evo 4g (desire hd) 4 months later. I suppose it'll be the same now. We have the SGS2 and you will get in fall whereas you got the evo 3d (on june 24th) while we have to wait until fall for the equivalent part here.

Nice find. I already have my Rezound on the way through the Amazon penny sale through a new activation, but only because I wasn't attached to my last phone number. In the end, it might end up being a bit of a headache because Amazon's system estimated that I have to wait 1 week because of the holiday weekend for the phone to show up.
-e- Ah, I missed the fact that Costco's price is an online-only deal too. Anyways, it's a nice offer for those that want to upgrade for a decent price.
Why couldn't you do the one penny deal. NM upgrade LOL sorry.

THANK YOU! Just need to double check tomorrow that I can keep my current data plan and I will have mine on its way. You did it just in the right time too. I was going to order or pick one up tomorrow no matter what but you saved me 150$.
What about saving money on activation fees. I might transfer over 5 lines to Verizon, that's almost 180 bucks in activation fees.
Anyway to avoid this silly fee or get it waived?
I just bought my phone from Verizon last week for $300. Would it be possible for me to return the phone, get my money back (-$35 restocking fee), get my upgrade date back, and order this from Costco (not a member, so 5% surcharge)? I noticed that it said you need to have your current plan for 22 months, would getting my upgrade date back affect this at all?
You might be in luck

Some good news for you.
According to my understanding, Verizon's holiday return policy as of Nov 15 is the following....all phones can be returned until January 15th (was Jan 9 but they extended it). Minus a 35 dollar restocking fee, you can probably ask them to waive it. Also make sure the rep rolls back your upgrade date. I once returned a phone to T-mobile and they didn't roll back my date, it showed I had used my upgrade even though the phone was returned.
Next good news. I'm a Costco member and have purchased several phones from Wireless Advocates, the company who actually runs the Wireless cell phone sales. (ps they are horrible...Costco needs to go with someone else). Anyway, back to the good news, unless they changed their policy, CELL phones purchased online for non-costco members are exempt from the non-costco member 5 percent surcharge!!! So you get the same benefits as a Costco member would!!! I might be wrong, but maybe Sam's Club online cell phone sales works the same way?
Seems like you're in luck
im a costco member...and i'd totally do it, but honestly, i don't feel llike going through the hassle..if there's a bad batch out there, mine wasn't part of it, so i'd hate to get a bad one and return a perfectly good one lol...plus honestly, the 267 total with tax i paid for the phone feels justified because this phone was ACTUALLY worth every penny to me
I am tempted to return my Rezound also and then get this deal. I wonder how long it is going on for though!

Again, having dealt with Wireless Advocates(costco) several times, they don't really ever put expiration dates on promotions. Which is very annoying. Also, remember you will pay tax on full retail value of the phone(before subsidy), which the website also doesn't state what the full retail value exactly is. Anyway regardless you would have to pay full unsubsidized tax direct from Verizon too depending on your state.
Another thing, if the website suddenly says "sold out" just check a few hours later, sometimes minutes later, and it will be back in stock.
The free accessories it comes with is JUNK. You would find better stuff at the 99 cent store. You usually get a car charger, a case, and something else. Whatever it's free but still looks and feels like junk from the 99 cent store.
I say do it if you are tight on money.

Well if you live in a tax free state, then you probably don't have to pay taxes. LUCKY [email protected] J/K
What state are you in? I'm so jealous, I'm sick of paying nearly 10 percent sales tax in California, errrr. Every time I buy a smartphone I have to pay 50-60 dollars in taxes on the full unsubsidized retail value, this state is stupid.
The screen protector is probably from the 25 cent gum ball machine. The free accessories they give you are seriously junk, but then again I've never gotten a screen protector from them, so it might actually be good, who knows.

Oh I didn't even know that was possible. You would have to ask wireless advocates directly. That might be something exclusive that Verizon representatives do for you directly as a courtesy, but probably Wireless Advocates(costco) wouldn't have the same ability to do. Make sure because you don't want to end up upgrading a different line on your account and be stuck paying data fees for 2 lines if your line isn't eligible for an upgrade.
Maybe you can call Verizon, tell them you're getting it at Costco, then have them do the buddy switch on the phone for you after?
I talked to Verizon via online chat and the rep said that this is possible through Costco, but I tend to take their info with a grain of salt lol. Thanks for your time and information Much appreciated!
I only got charged tax on $50. I do hope mine doesn't have any problems. I was expecting it would be like dealing with Costco (super easy) but from what you guys are saying, its not going to be easy if I have any issues.
There's no activation fee on upgrades, only on new lines, in which case you should do the Amazon 1 cent deal.
Tell me more about buddy upgrades please.

Hey, tell me more about this "buddy upgrade." Is this a known and allowed Verizon wireless policy? Also what is a "dummy phone line" they are talking about in that link?
PS read this I found via Google, talks about buddy upgrades and Costco, also someone mentioned something about being careful not to lose your grandfathered unlimited data.

Probably when a newer and more attractive phone comes out...another month or two would be my guess for the corporate stores to drop the price to 250
You can get a good deal from best buy mobile, amazon, wirefly, etc. If you want to buy the phone from verizon when the price drops other better devices will be out and you're not going to be able to resist them.

Thanx. That was my guess too. But since nothing moved for almsot 2 months now, was doubting my instinct.
Will the entry of Droid 4 have any effect on the RaZr's prices?+ when is the Droid 4 coming anyways?
Also, what is the price in the USA right now? Somewhere it says 299$, somewhere else it says 730$...so how much does it cost?
299$ means only 13k in India, but it is sold for 34k...more than double...i wonder why?

Phones in the US sell at a discount when you sign a two year contract with the service provider it's not like in India. So 300 in contract is the price with contract through Verizon Wireless and 730 is without a contract. Some third party vendors will sell for cheaper though that's how a lot of us got the phone for .01 cent with a contract.

Hmmm...so does that mean you practically pay only the provider & not the manufacturers? I mean what would Motorola earn out of 0.1 Cent?
Anyways, just wanted to know if the 34,000 price tag is valid and when is the price dropping...my birthday comes in less than a month (23 Jan) and this looks like the best gift my lovely granny can give me, so was thinking of how much will it drop to?

Yes that's basically right the providers have contracts with the manufacturers for the phones and the providers usually lose money on the devices when they give them at a discount but they make much more money on the service so it's worth it to lock customers into a two year contract for service. I don't think anyone can really predict the exact moment the price will drop for you especially in India but I mean technology moves so fast these days I'd guess another month or two and you'll see a drop of 3000-5000 or so.

Trying to decide if I want to pre order from best buy or straight through ATT. I wish Amazon Wireless would announce something already!
Anywhoo . . . I don't have any real reason NOT to order from BB apart from the fact that I don't like and have sworn never to shop there again. Long, unrelated story, but so far I've made good to myself on that promise.
If I do order from BB, is there any downside? Am on contract with them in any way, or only through AT&T? Can I still take my phone to ATT for warranty claims or do I have to take it to BB?
Thanks!
You will not be in contract with BB in anyway. For warranty I'm not sure. If you order through ATT it ships out on 02/16 while supplies last. If you order through BB it ships out 02/19 with the official flip case (free) while supplies last.

hahaha..you don't know me that well yet...I have had 6 phones in the last 6 months lol. I know I will get more.
best buy wins hands down.
not everyone has the luxury of six lines but this is what we do
We have 6 lines on our family plan (5 phones, 1 pc connect {cross upgrade HELLO})...
1.Buy device, purchase buyback, get discount on buyback for purchasing black tie (cancel black tie after 30 days)
2.Sell back Device
3.Use store credit from the buy back to purchase new phone on another line due an upgrade
4.use left over amounts for other toys, or save towards next upgrade.
I always get the newest device
It's worked out pretty well so far. Currently we are out of upgrades until September..but have a few phones that are eligible for buy back should I decide to trade them in towards one device at full price (unlikely)
our next round of upgrades start in September..right about time for the s3
sept, oct, dec, feb, then the following January '13
Oh, and you can't forget price matching...this is a very important part of the process

Lost and stolen for most people isnt an issue, its broken screens. While ours is slightly more expensive if you do the 9.99 a month, there is NO deductible for breaking you phone. The note will be classified as a tier 3 in att's insurance which means its a $200 deductible on top of the $7 a month. That is just ****ing insane lol if you do our outright price for the protection at best buy its $170 for the two years, putting it right under $7 a month. All without a deductible and unlimited claims. And Im not just trying to push our protection because I work there because frankly, you wont be buying from my store so it wont affect me. I just fully support our protection, coming from 3 broken iPhone 4's and most recently a skyrocket.
Side note, I have a concession line with ATT which I cannot get BB protection on and broke the phone. $200 to replace the vivid lol I just cancelled the line and threw the vivid in the trash

With this, the phone is sent away and a refurbished phone is sent at the same time, making the turn around time about 2-4 business days. This does NOT fulfill your protection plan, meaning it is still active and can still be used again and again with no limit to the amount of claims. If you chose to send your phone as a repair instead of exchange the typical wait time is 14-30 days. If they are unable to repaid your phone in a cost effective manor to them or it exceeds 30 days they will issue you a gift card for the full retail value of the phone so that you can pick out a new one. This WILL fulfill the protection plan. So in a strange, completely misleading way, your initial statement was kind of accurtate. If we give you a $600+ gift card to replace your phone with a different model, yes your $170 protection plan is void. What would you expect?

that is one of the negative sides AND positive sides to the black tie protection plans.
in some cases it just isn't worth the expense (i.e. when the cost of the plan exceeds about the 50% mark, I don't buy it)
it's rare, but in some cases it just isn't logical.
In this case...$300 for the phone plus $170 for the plan...it's a hard choice.
You realistically are looking at $470 vs $600 which isn't much of a difference...unless you utilize the plan towards the end of its life

Sorry but that logic doesn't make much sense to me. Buy a phone at 300, break it and pay 650 that equals 950, which is twice the price of the upgrade and coverage for unlimited replacements. I guess its just that I see a lot of customers coming in after multiple broken screen replacements that I don't see the logic of buying other protection or buying outright replacements. To each his own tho I suppose

Consider BB insurance has no deductible. ATT charges a $200 deductible if you phone needs repair.
No you are right...my point being that breakage occurring in the first 6 months to a year the plan makes sense...beyond that it wouldn't .
Its a gamble...otherwise best buy wouldn't offers it haha. The odds are in their favor. Unless of course one pretty much knows they are going to break the phone, or manipulate the program later to get a new device.
Curious question, only because I receive multiple asnswers in store
Does best buy black tie cover cosmetic damage? I have been told yes and have been told no.
Is there a wear and tear clause? I know att has a wear and tear clause and can deny coverage. Reading their fine print I also notice they can deny if its manufacturering related as well.

hahaha..you don't know me that well yet...I have had 6 phones in the last 6 months lol.

In my store, and I assume in most stores, if a customer wants their phone to be sent out AND they have GSBTP, they are fully entitled to send it out. There is almost no way coverage can be denied, although the plan does specify that submersion and extreme damage (i.e, running it over with a car) is not covered. As long as the customer doesn't explicitly say that was the issue, it is usually fine.
I will say, in two years at BBYM, I have never seen a customer who purchased the protection be denied a phone being sent out. While my store is pretty good at making sure the customer is treated fairly, I can assume that BBYM wouldn't be gaining the market share it is if customers were not being treated properly.

Cool cool. I have not had any claims on mobile purchases. I have run into issues on laptops in the past (worn mouse tracker) where I was told it was wear and tear/ cosmetic and had to physically show them that the tracker no longer worked properly. The same with USB ports.
Thanks for chiming in!
Just wondering why Best Buy is charging more. I will ultimately pay everything subsidized price, but am taxed on the $749 price.

That's why I decided to go with AT&T, since it was $100 cheaper than what Best Buy offers for full price.
Because that's the price we got them at. it sucks because if we got them at 650 my employee price would be around 500 if you're buying outright though we will gladly price match atts 650

Subsidized: BB making money on your monthly bills. It adds up nicely for 2 years.
Unsubsidized: BB making money on phone sale only.
Most 3rd party retailers ask more than AT&T's list price for unsubsided price.
This is not a surprise. Bestbuy's unsubsidized prices are always way over everyone else's. The same can be said for pretty much any product they carry.

True. It's better to buy the phone outright from AT&T itself. Although BB has one of the best prices when it comes to upgrades, after awhile when it goes down, of course. I've never used Wal-Mart to upgrade, even though I heard they have the lowest price when it comes to upgrades.
I have always been successful in getting Best Buy to match the ATT store price on no commitment prices. Best Buy has no restock fee just in case you are not 100% you will keep the phone, which I am never sure when buying no commitment. Plus, it is easier to get gift cards from Best Buy...
As far as being taxed for $749, sounds like a state issue...

I wasn't even clearly aware about price matching AT&T. The BB I've gone to just doesn't do it.

That does suck. They are not required to do it. The one I shop at has like 3 ATT stores within 5 miles so they call to make sure the phone is in stock at the ATT store and then they discount the phone to match.
Maybe find a BB with ATT stores close by?

I'll do that next year once I'm due for my upgrade. I'm going to use it to get the S3 once it comes out and see if anyone would price match it. Although I'm not hopeful.
The Note was the one thing that was going to get me to upgrade and renew my at&t contract...which I hadn't done since 2007 with the original iPhone.
But unless a 3rd party vendor drops the subsidized pricing rather soon to a more reasonable price, I won't upgrade.
On top of that, my current contract doesn't let me use LTE...due to APN issues. So I'm gonna wait to see if someone finds a way around that (if it's actually possible).
They don't make money off the subsidized phone over the 2 years. They get around $200-350 from the phone company after the sale.
I was a part of the group that started BB Mobile in 2006.

Thanks for clarify that. The main profit comes from the 2-year contract. What I didn't know is AT&T pay them up front.
I was so excited when I saw this I ordered 2 right away.

I didn't notice until after the fact that it was not available in stock yet but this is the best deal I've seen so I'm willing to wait a little and see how it goes. I was also concerned I would not get the gift card if my purchase was not completed before December 1st but I talked to a customer service rep and they confirmed I would receive the gift card based on the order date not the ship date. They also said they estimated they would receive it in stock today which was a surprise. Sounds too good to be true but fingers crossed. So hopefully this is a good deal and I will get my phones shipped shortly.
Anyone else going to pull the trigger? Post here if you have any thoughts or additional info.
WOW phones over in the US are mega cheap, would be like £500 here.

Keep in mind that price comes with a two year contract @ roughly $80/month and heavy fee, enough to make up the difference, if you cancel before the two years is up.
Just got my shipping notice so they def have phones in stock even though it doesn't show as in stock on the website. Didn't pay for overnight shipping so I'm getting them Friday.

Their website ordering is odd though. The pricing is hokey, looks different than Verizon. Did VZ contact you after the order to confirm pricing?
In particular Walmart has 2G data pack for $45 where its $60 on VZ...and Walmart only shows text package of $10 /1000 texts....aren't the new VZ plans including unlimited talk and text?
Sorry, this is a nice deal but I have unlimited Data which I know will change but I don't want them effin up the order
Just curious what your experience with the order was.
Thanks!
Well...that doesn't seem like a good deal after all...the $100 gift card you get is only limited to purchases within Walmart; whereas if you buy the DNA with a $20 coupon from Wirefly, you only pay $129.99 and you have the choice whether to spend that $100 on Walmart or not.

No, VZ did not contact me after. But it did take about 24 hours through the Walmart website for "Carrier Approval". I did not change the plan. It asked me whether I wanted to switch to a Share Everything Plan and I said no. So I selected a $30 for 2GB plan for each phone. The plan already includes unlimited texting. I also have 1400 minutes but it was strange that it showed 700 minutes for each line. I'll have to check my plan after I activate both of the lines and see what it looks like.
For some reason Wirefly has just made me nervous in the past. A Walmart gift card is a good as cash to me so I'm good with that.

Yep, ordered mine this morning. i stopped by VZ store to check out the DNA first and man what a great looking phone, cant wait to get some more time on it.
The VZ rep explained to me that I would pick the 2GB but that would be my phone and my wifes plan would stay unlimited until she upgraded or I changed to a shared tier. Which I may do at the next billing cycle because it would save me a few bucks each month.
Again thanks man for this link, we shop at Walmart all the time so that $100 will come in handy!

Yep, for $600 or more. Plus I think there is only one carrier that offers a discounted monthly rate if you buy off contract vs subsidized. Our consumers are too dense to realize that they'd be better off paying full price for phones and demanding lesser monthly fees from the carriers. Everyone wants their fancy new device for relative pennies but will pay through the nose in monthly fees without batting an eye.

I noticed when I looked at the iPhone store for the US once that all the prices were under contract, where here in the UK it's buying directly with no contract. Also here you can purchase a month by month sim and you get the same deals as you do with the full on monthly contracts and they're much cheaper.
Why I was interested in the Nexus 4 was because it's £230-280 and I could get a contract of £25quid a month, cancel it any time and it's the same deal of unlimited data as the monthly version.
Sadly no 32GB version killed it for me because there is no Micro SD either.
Walmart will price match Radio Shack, who had it for $149, but only if you have a printed ad. Then you still get the $100 gift card, too.

It drives me crazy that carriers are still allowed to do this bs. All phones should come unlocked at full price from manufacturer or carrier, and carrier should have to compete for customers based on value and price of service. Unfortunately it is @ss backwards and carriers try locking out certain phones so you jump ship to get their overpriced sh1t service for the new shiny phone. They make you pay $599, sign up and cancel an hour later to use on another carrier -- truly sad

I don't think most Americans would pay unsubsidized price for a smart phone. Sure, some would, but it would only take 1 carrier to offer a discount and people would jump all over it.

He speaks the truth. No one looks at total price anymore, only monthly payments. There's a good portion of the population that can't even get that right.

Has anyone successfully done this? That would be a crazy good price, making it $49. But maybe they would price match somewhere else for $199 making the price $99 instead of the $139 I paid. Either way I'm happy. My screen is dead on my Evo so I was more than ready for a new phone.
Also I looked at my account and everything looks good.
I wasn't able to find a print ad with the Radio Shack price, but they will price match any ad long ad it's not the Verizon ad, is what I was told. They said they just can't price match against VZW corporate.
