you will need to re-root and reinstal grey blur. Not sure if it will keep all of the changes in the update you should check in the greyblur forum. gingerblur will be fine as its based off of the latest firmware.
OK thanks

doing the update now...how long does this take antway? is been going at it for a while, no progress bar or anything, just a triangle with an exclemation mark and a little android beside it.
update failed cause of greyblur, i will just wait til gingerbread comes out to do any updates.....maybe.
You will more than likely have to update to 4.1.83 before it will let you update to the following update when it comes out.
You'll have to do like most of us and flash back to 4.1.26 or 4.1.57 before updating. GreyBlur removed Motorola bloatware, and the phone won't update with any missing or frozen Moto stuff.
Any pROMs installed will prevent OTA updates. You need to flash back stock for them to run.

Your best bet is probably just to flash to SBF 1.83. You can root from there using Gingerbreak

I can get the update now. I was part of the ATRIX 4G Pre-Release Software Test.
Problem is that I cant get software update since my phone is rooted.
search the forum and download sbf 183.
Then open the sticky thread how to flash sbf to your phone, and use the 183 file you found .
183 on mine didn't wipe my data..
So installed a clean 142 then update then flashed 183, root etc etc, and waiting for the 3.0 gingerblur!!!!!!!!
And I think that update increased wifi reception!!!

You can try the post above, flashing 1.83 sbf. Easy to do.
Or try unroot script within Gladroot

It has unroot function.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
From my understanding, you can upgrade even if the phone's rooted as long as you don't have a custom theme or pseudo-ROM like GingerBlur or GladAtrix installed. You'll lose root though, so make sure you can re-root it.
This should be in QA bro!

Helo guys, I used to own a Samsung Galaxy S, and last week I got the Droid X2 from Verizon. So now I'm seeing new terms being used like sbf, debloat, freeze, etc...
My DX2 is root and I also have the V6 Supercharger, and I still can't get the GB update.
I believe many users on this forum have the same case as mine, so can anyone give us steps to follow in order to get the update.
Thank you so much
sbf back to stock using rsd.
download the gb update, flash in recovery
look under general in Droid x2 forums

I came from a similar situation. I just got the x2 as a replacement for my fascinate due to repetitive missed call issues. I updated to Gingerbread today using the tips on this forum & the file posted to the mediafire link. The first thing you'll need to do for this update to work is undue all the non-stock modifications you've done.
Unsupercharge
Unfreeze or replace any stock apps you may have uninstalled. This is where the sbf comes in, it's the stock image that was loaded when it left the factory.
Unroot, might not be necessary but its better safe than sorry. Especially since this update is unrootable atm.
Rename the downloaded file update.zip & put it in the root of your sdcard-ext.
Flash from the stock recovery & you should be good.
Whatever other info you need, search these threads-its in there somewhere.

The SBF does infact restore you to stock 2.2.2
It should also be the first thing you do when you get the phone (before rooting etc) It blows my mind that people would mess with their device without doing an SBF at least once.
The SBF will usually require you to battery pull at the end, go to stock Android recovery and wipe data and cache. (unless you did that before running the SBF)
On Vista and Windows 7 make sure you right click RSDlite and choose to "run as admin"
Everyone who did the OTA or the 2.3 update from here at XDA and wants p3droids rooted update is going to have to SBF momentarily. We should get rooted 2.3 this afternoon according to p3's twitter
I unrooted my phone and uninstalled the Supercharger, I sbf'd back to stock Froyo successfully, and still I can't get the update. What else should I do?

GREAT, you have completed step one. Do not load anything else on your phone. You will not be getting a over the air update.
You have more work to do to get 2.3.3 on your phone.
Just follow the direction at this link.

Just to be clear.... He should eventually get an OTA update if he waits long enough. But he won't be able to root it. So follow the link above, and do those steps to install the rooted version of the update from 3Pdroid.
(Yeah I know that's obvious, but the title of this thead DOES include the words, "I'm Totally Lost". )
Thanks all, I'm on the pre-rooted GB now

Hello all. My phone is trying to auto-update itself to GB...2.33. However, I am currently rooted...which I do not want to lose.
If the phone updates itself, is there currently any way to re-root the phone?
Thanks

Well, I auto updated this morning while I was rooted. The OTA update went fine but I have lost root. If anyone can figure out how I can regain root in 2.3.3, I would forever be in your debt.
Thanks!

Yes, it's true. You can update to 2.3, then SBF back to Froyo 2.2. Then grab P3's Pre-Root 2.3 GB update, and flash it. Follow these instructions.
Don't hold me to it, but you can probably use P3's to go straight from 2.2 to 2.3, without updating first, then SBF'ing back to Froyo. I could be wrong though, and I'm not responsible.
There may be an apk responsible for this. I'm not sure, but could FOTA.apk be Forced OTA? I haven't tried freezing this, but is someone willing to try?
I don't think that's it.
I just froze "Updater 2.2.2" using Titanium Backup and restarted the phone...I don't see a popup anymore. Hopefully that stops the OTA until I can install it and root.
I have the phone setup just the way I want it right now...I doubt the 2.33 would make any much of a difference.
Here is what you do...
.sbf back to 2.2.2
boot up and re-setup the phone (*228)
use gingerbreak to root it
install the recovery app
download p3's update.zip and place it in the root of your sdcard-ext
boot to recovery and hit the sdcard:update.zip option
There are more detailed instructions in this subforum if you look.

Can anyone verify that torpedo root method works after the update? Or restoring root from Superuser or VooDoo?
I didn't get an email, but the update was waiting for me when I checked manually.
I'll check if photon torpedo works once the update is complete.

Not sure it applies to you, but I am sure the update will fail everytime if you have bootstrap recovery installed. As the update uses a bootstrap method itself, if it can't launch it's recovery properly it will fail.
The catch to that is that since the last two updates were OTA's there is no SBF for us to revert back to stock with.
So, you can take the downloaded OTA out of the /cache partition (Will be a zip file with todays timestamp), rename it to update.zip, place it on your sd card and flash through recovery. That's a work around

Looks like Photo-torpedo method worked!
Photon-torpedo.sh threw an error like it did in the last update but #Root Check says it's all good. Super User, Busy box, Titanium Backup are all happy with root.
Also no problem to go R/W with Root Explorer so maybe this update is not locked like the last one!

If you want root I would play it safe.
verizon / samsung do follow xda and they have been patching holes within their devices. to be safe you should wait for dev to get this file and give you direction.
a day (maybe two) wait will not hurt you! if you jump, it could be month before you get root back.
