Just picked up a HTC Amaze 4G from someone off Kijiji. They had the phone with Telus, I unlocked it and I am with Mobilicity now.
I want to install the latest Android 4.0 ROM, default, no Sense, no nothing. Vanilla I belive it's called. Where do I start? What's the best. I came from a HTC Desire, so it's been many changes between these phones.

First things first, if you're looking for a starting point, it lays in your desktop computer. You will have to compile the code yourself or wait patiently. If you read the COUNTLESS threads about 3.6/4.0 and AOSP in the Amaze forums, you will see that what you're looking for doesn't exist
And please, to prevent even MORE duplicate posts, read/search before posting. Thanks
Edit: First things first, obey your thirst, Sprite, ya dig? I miss those commercials lol

Thanks for the nicer answer.
So there are 4.0 ROMS though? And is there an expected time for the vanilla ROM? Did it not get officially released for this phone?
And excluding Vanilla, what is the best one out there, opioion of course? Ya know, fast and clean.

n00bs get offended in every forum ive ever been in when theyre told to search for answers first, rather than posting up aimlessly LOL. wouldnt you think it would be part of proper forum etiquette? search first and if you still cant find the answer, someone will jump in to help. its not that people dont want to help, its that people get tired of answering the same question every other day when there are 654798756121321654951261 threads on the subject already

Dude, there are rules to this forum, and its not just here for you to instantly get answers at your convenience. The answer to the question in the OP is ALL OVER the Amaze forums. A Google search would have brought you to one of those pages. Common courtesy bruh. We understand u have questions.... We all do... But no need to litter a forum with redundancy. Sorry if you took offense. I didn't think it was flaming. Jmho

This really isn't an opinion question.... I mean, it would kind of be IF there were 4.0 for the Amaze, but it's not... It's a question asking where to start when installing a ROM that doesn't exist.
But if your explanation makes you feel like you were in the right, then you don't get it. Sorry again

Ok fair enough... No need to apologize. Nobody is in the wrong, and this happens all the time. Just trying to help.
There are those ppl too who don't use search engines often so may not be an "expert" at searching. For future reference though, this Amaze community is relatively small, and most of us have had almost every possible problem to date. The General forum, and Development forums have a nice amount of threads covering multiple issues (some redundant). U can usually find your answer with a brief glance at thread topics. Sorry if I came off Luke a jerk, I actually thought my first post was rather clever... Didn't mean to be offensive

Have been seeing a recent trend lately so I thought this may help.
If you are a noob or if you just have a plane old question and you are feeling a little too lazy to read through the forms then this is what you do before you start a new thread about your problem. (99% of the time your problem has already been talked about)
For the xda app go to the °more° tab and click on the little eye glass and simply type in your question or some key words of the problem you are having.
Now for the web page for xda this may be a little more difficult but stick with me alright. There is a bar that says search, type in your question or key words of your question and see if you can find what you are looking for. Now for the advance users look around for a topic that you have a question about in the respected form area (I.E. development or q and a) and search key word of your problem and search that form for your answer or you can read the form in its entirety (Recommended method).
Hope this helps and it’s not meant to be rude but I think it’s a noticeable problem lately.

I wonder if the root process will be as simple as the HTC One and One X?
I would think it would be similar, since the phones are so similar.
But what do I know. I'm not even close to being a dev.

I plan on getting this Evo, so hopefully it isn't a couple months before s-off and root is attained again. I would rather not have hindered development this time around.

Is there any doubt this is the next benchmark phone. The OGEvo is still in my opinion the only SuperPhone. A first of many standards, and the only phone i know you can plug directly into the TV for watching Vids.

We do communicate, and still the same questions get asked over, and over, and over. It can become a bit frustrating after awhile.
9 times out of 10, if you simply copy and paste the OP's question into Google the answer will pop right up in the first couple of results.
I will say the same thing I said on a different thread...
When a question is asked people who know the answer have two options...
A) You choose to answer the question
B) You choose not to answer the question...
To come up with a smartass remark while NOT answering the question makes you a special kind of douchebag.
If a person is posting in this forums is because they were searching. Nobody comes to this forums as their first instinct...they find these forums because they are searching the answer to a question.
Yes I know it's a question, but I stuck it in general because it's about the subforum in general.
Few months ago it was decided the AT&T forums would be merged with the International forums as a lot of the stuff from there would work with the AT&T One and vice versa. It's also a pain to keep going back and forth between the two fourms. If it's not gonna happen at this point that's fine, I'm just wondering what's up.
Thank you
Just wait
