This is the second TB I rooted via the adb process. The first time I did this I ran into 0 issues.
I replaced my original TB about a week ago and went through the adb rooting process on my new TB. It seemed like the second time went smoothly when I rooted my phone. I installed the das BAMF 1.7 Rom after flashing clockwork. All went well except it didn't provide rosie setting app that allows users to select the right fixed homescreen button of their choice.
I decided to go back to das BAMF 1.6.1 since I was familiar with the Rom as it was the one I used on my original TB.
Now to the issues I've experienced:
I am unable to purchase apps from the Android market. I can download the ones I've purchased in the past or download any of the free apps on the market. But I am just not able to purchase a new app from there. A network error message pops up every time I try to do so. Irrelevant I'm sure but I have no issues with the amazon app store.
Browser issues. I'm not sure what it is but viewing select web pages forces my browser to shut down. When I reopen the browser it goes right back to my homepage, not the page I was just on. I've tried the stock browser, opera and dolphin. They all experience the same problem.
Apps closing on their own. Some of the apps that pull information directly from a website will close depending on what is currently being viewed in the app. Example would be the xda app. Some of the threads cause the app to close on its own and when I reopen the app it goes right back to the home view I set it to display, not he thread I was viewing. Another example of this is pulse reader...same thing is going on with this. I realize these app issues are related to the same issue I'm experiencing via my browser but its annoying none the less.
Anyone have any suggestions, experiencing similar problems or can be of any help because I'm stumped.

I would re-download the rom, wipe everything (data/cache/davlik) and flash the rom again. Download flash from the market, and that will stop your browser from closing randomly.
mother effer! of all things I did forget to download flash. that's a little embarrassing but thanks. I'll read download the rom tomorrow and give it a try .

Same thing happened to me, and I was wondering the same thing, D/L flash and all the browser problems went away.

Hey guys I seem to have lost my Gingerbread stock browser. I was playing with widgets and I wanted to make some space and "removed" my browser from the home panels..not the application panel. Now when I went into applications I cannot seem to find my stock browser!! How do I get it back?! Please help this is very annoying...
Also I don't want to use any other browser..I tried dolphin, and various others..I am not happy with them. Stock seemed to be the smoothest, fastest, and appealing browser to me.
You can't delete the stock browser. Did you check and recheck all the icons in your app drawer? It could be there, I know myself looking over an app for like 10 times, then discover I have it installed when going through the market.
Try a reboot or something, I hope it'll help.

I did a reboot. I'm not sure what you mean by app drawer? Is that the same as the "application" menu with all the apps installed? I'm new to android I just got the Galaxy S2 two days ago, so bare with me. I did the google search in my phone also to help me find it, and it cannot locate it. In fact you need the browser for it so when it asked me to view a web page it asked to use "dolphin" or "skyfire" not my "Internet" browser.
You can't delete Stock browser. You may have deleted the Widget but no way one can remove the system browser. Even I doubt it if it's possible to delete by TB, so it must there in Menu.
Regards.
Yes the App Drawer is the official name for the menu with all the icons. It's very weird you could remove the stock browser. And that you can't select it anymore.
Does your phone give any errors when using the dialer (the app you use to call someone)? Since the SGS2's Dialer.apk relies on the Browser.apk (filename for an android app), weirdly enough.
You cannot remove an app when using the home menu. At least not using the stock TouchWiz interface.
If you have no errors or problems, it HAS to be there.
This happend to me to on my galaxy tab. I think I did it with titanium back up. I don't know how you did it but you can reflash stock software with odin and get it back. You might lose your data.
It's working now. I spent a few hours trying to figure out what happen to the browser! I gave up. Funny thing is before this issue I flashed my ROM to Litening 3.2 I didn't like the bugs on it..especially the very heavy laggy internet bug! So I got a new browser didn't like it. While I was moving my widgets around I usually "remove" them and go back to my app draw to place them again where I want. I went to my app draw...no internet browser. After unable to figure it out..I reflashed my ROM back to the previous litening ROM 3.0. Then what do you know the browser came back! It has nothing to do with litening ROM, but I'm guessing it has a browser.apk in it so it installed it for me again.
OK - I'm starting to think I'm the only person that has this issue as I haven't seen it reported..
Sometimes, my Photon won't launch apps. Apps that are already running continue to run and I can switch back and forth between them, but trying to start a new app, it just doesn't start! Fix has been to either reboot, or have it go to sleep and wake it up 15 minutes later and try again. I've had it do this while a system task manager was running, so could see that there was plenty of free memory (RAM) available..
This includes launching apps from apps that are already running. i.e. - sometimes the browser doesn't launch from a search query. (mostly though pressing an icon on the STOCK launcher doesn't launch it..)
Anyone else see this?

Yeah mine seems to do it every once in a while too. I noticed that if you open the task manager and kill the market then whatever app your trying to open will end up opening up right after the market closes.

One of the reasons, I took mine back to the Sprint Store. When they fix it, I may buy it again... otherwise, my OG Evo is perfectly fine.
I can't believe more people aren't experiencing this. I do have LauncherPro installed but I don't think that's the reason. I can recreate this all the time. After installing an app through Market, I randomly can't open apps from the home screen.
Nothing happens unless I force close the Marketplace.
Any input on this?

The new market is absolute crap in my opinion, way to many FC's with it and it just doesn't do what it needs to. If I can go faster than it can download, select, etc then it needs to be reworked, also I get a lot of packet errors, have to download apps two or three times just to get it to install.. Great idea but it needs a patch bad!
I wouldn't see why this is a reason to take the Photon back and go back to an Evo, I mean the Evo is a cool phone but the hardware on it is sub par compared to this phone. I used to have one, and it doesn't even hold a candle. But to each their own.

I have only had this happen a few times I was told that it is associated with the battery manager settings if you don't use performance it can cause issues that was what was causing the muted audio issues the battery management settings put it on performance and I don't see the issue.

I just noticed my battery mode was set to Nighttime Saver. Hadn't even looked at this option. I went ahead and changed it to Performance Mode and will see if it happens again.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Mine does it too. After the update that just came out it seems to do it less now.
Just started having this issue today. App launches and others won't launch unless you kill the "hanging" app or the market.
I have no idea if this is a bug in blur or some kind of hardware defect (memory). It seems to be a software issue.
Problem persists after complete hard reset and app cache clear.
I'm using an 8 GB Samsung class 2 microSD card (from old Evo 4G). It has been reformatted.
Other symptoms: Back button and select widgets become unresponsive.
App count at time problem started: 72
yeah i have the same issues. not sure how to fix it. Usually a reboot does it but man i hate to reboot it all the time.
Could you list any changes, apps, app counts, microSD card, or settings your Photon has?
Mine is working smoothly after redoing my Photon for the 2nd time, reformating the microSD card via the phone, keeping my App count below 70, setting the Battery mode to Performance, and not installing Bump or Sensorly.
Still trying to narrow down the issue but it's looking like it's software related.
still happening
Is this problem still happening to anyone's phone?? It's starting to get really annoying, I tried a hard reset twice on two different photons and the problem's still occurring.
I fixed this by installing the automemory manager. Details in my thread called lag be gone.

sweet thanks I'll go ahead and give it a try.
I've checked around and haven't seen anything pertaining to this. 1. I enjoy downloading ALOT of stuff, but I have been met with much difficulty when doin so on my HTC view. The general site unavailable msg is what I get everytime. I have yet to successfully download anything from the browser...DRM? I've tried dolphin hd and stock no luck.
2. The xda app has turned into window shopping, I can't do anything but surf the forum until i wanna read a thread or change setting. Then it FCs on me.
3. I saw somewhere and noticed it myself, you cant turn off the network radio.
A: search for LTE switch on the market. It will shut of your radio without having to mess with airplane mode.
Anyone have any input?
I'm sure there's a simple fix for the browser downloads, anyone?
I've never been able to download much of anything with the stock browser. All apks and zips download as .htm for me. So, I started using Firefox to download and I haven't had an issue since. Not the best browser, but it at least downloads things properly.
If you getting constant FC's on the XDA app, you might want to wipe data on it and start over, that might fix it. I was having the same issue with Tapatalk and wiped, problem solved.
Thanks for the input. I successfully d/l'd an APK for the updated market and it worked properly. I wonder if there is a transfer cap on file downloaded....hmm been using dolphin HD any others you recommend?
If I can't dowload something in Dolphin, I shift to Firefox. So far it works.
Instead, it just opens the pages in the browser (views the youtube webpage, or maps webpage). How can I set the phone to launch the apps, just like every other Android phone I've had?
I'm on the stock rom, rooted.
Thanks,
Dave
I have this same question. Also I've noticed that if I install another browser, say chrome, it won't let me pick a default. It will always default to stock HTC. I'm unrooted stock. Anyone know why? First phone this has happened.
The YouTube thing is annoying too. I much prefer the app...

This is due to the apple patent that took away some of our functionality.
And this fixes it. Must be rooted, there's a flashable version to if you're unlocked.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693809
Thanks. Modified the file manually, rebooted and everything worked great!
I'm not rooted yet and this is infuriating. I usually email myself a maps link and use it in the car to launch maps to get navigation going. Now the link opens up the browser so I end up having to manually open Maps and paste the address in. If we keep going backwards like this I'll end up having to print directions out again like it's 2001.
You can thank apple for the backwards progress!

So this is a weird one, I haven't seen this mentioned before. At random times, while my phone is locked and in my holster, apps open on their own. I will pick up the phone, turn the screen on, unlock it and the Internet will be opened to my home page (Google). I know it wasn't like that before I turned the screen off. It's been like that on any rom I run. Right now I'm on the rooted stock rom. Any one else seen this?
I get the same thing once in awhile. Usually the last Google search I did.
At one point it would have xda open in browser, which I don't use.
Naters

I haven't experienced anything like this. Is it always the internet app that is open? Or is there other apps that wil randomly start as well?
For me always internet.
I run the Badseed tranquility ROM. Rls 3 s-off with latest radio update.

I wondering if there is come hiccup with the internet app. Have you tried a different internet app like google chrome? Maybe make that the default browser and see if you have any issues.
Good idea. Thanks.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I'll try that too, now that I think about it, it is just the internet app.
Must've been just the stock browser. I've been running maxthon browser and it hasn't auto-opened.
Happens to my wife all the time, she would come to me complaining and getting frustrated, turned out when she went to turn off the screen her palm would open what she had on the bottom right side of the screen lol. Not saying thats your problem but could be, to be honest its happened to me a couple times

Now I've got an interesting one. I flashed stock w/ goodies 2.14 today, on a reboot the dialer is automatically opened. Just to test, I flashed back to stock and have the same issue. The only new thing I did was use superwipe prior to each flash and I've never used it before. I've seen this mentioned before in another thread but I couldn't find it again. Anyone else have this happen? It doesn't affect functionality, but kind of annoying.
