Moving ROM and Backup - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all.
I want to move from Litening ROM to VillainROM while preserving all my user apps and system data (apps, menu's, folders, texts, everything)
I've got TitaniumBackup. Do I simply do a full backup of all user and system apps and data through TiB, flash VillainROM through Odin, reinstall TiB, replace TiB backup folder, and do a Restore all apps with data?
This is my gf's phone, so my balls are literally on the line here
Many thanks.

[Q] Using Titanium Backup and restoring after SBF upgrade

Those of you who are using TB to backup your apps and system data before proceeding to a new flash ---- when restoring, do you restore Apps AND System Data?
Anyone know if there is a drawback to doing this? It sure is convenient and keeps system settings, etc ... but since we are flashing to a new SBF, i'm wondering if we're mixing and matching old system data with new one ... any thoughts?
I am restoring only new apps and data, doing it atbleast twice a day and works great so far
Moved as not android development.
i restored only the user installed apps and data, not the system data and it worked great when i flashed the the original sbf and then installed the update

[Q] Data backup switching to Gingerbread ROM

I'm running veganTAB 5.1.1 at the moment. I've installed a lot of apps, have some documents stored locally, a lot of data in springpad as well as a good number of media files.
I know switching to the ginger edition requires a wiping data. I have titanium back and ran a full backup of apps and data.
What I'd like to know is the best way to go about restoring my apps and app data and whether I'll be deleting any locally saved files when I "wipe data". I guess i'm not clear whether wiping data means wiping everything, like a reformat, or if it means a specific menu option in clockwork.
I'm a bit of a noob at this still. I have reflashed roms a couple of times but at the time I didn't have a lot of stuff to worry about saving and I'm not sure whether I wiped more than I needed to.
A data wipe will erase user installed applications, their associated data, and system data (but not system apps). It will not harm files stored on sdcard or sdcard2.
Does restoring the apps through titaniumbackup work? I seem to recall trying that once and the app didn't work until I uninstalled it and redownloaded from the market. Maybe I did it wrong.
Restoring apps and data should work. Do not restore system data or you will have trouble. It is quite possible that you'll have to reinstall Titanium Backup to make it work correctly. I've had to do that once or twice when changing ROMs.
Smooth and easy, not sure what I was worried about. Thanks.
I just did the same thing and had real good luck with app mybackup, I just backed up the apps and no data and it worked perfect. Gingerbread was very nice roms. But it seemed the more programs you load the longer it takes to boot. At first it booted in a few secs. Then I did my restore of all my apps and it took like 5 min to boot all the time. Not sure what that was about.. But I switched back to TNT.
I have sold my Gtab to a friend and want to keep all my downloaded app's .
I can move them to the SD card and do a data wipe in CWM and it will remove my personal data like passwords and facebook ,, gmail account ?
and still keep my apps ?
Thanks

Quick questions before I flash a rom

Hey all! I'm new to android and am ready to flash a rom. However, I am concerned that i will lose some gamesave/App data.. I have used titanium backup to backup all system and app data with the batch feature.. Can I just run the restore all feature to get everything back the way it was? Will i have to replace all my widgets?? It just seems to simple! Thanks!
Titanium backup will restore your apps and data.....and system data. It is very important that when you restore, if you have backed up any system data, do not restore that. The rom you flash will have its own system data, so you don't wan't to load your old data over that. Force close city. Just restore "user apps" and it will be just like you left it. As far as your widgets, yes, you will have to restore them. All your wifi access, wallpaper, etc is linked to your google account (if you have it checked under settings>privacy.)
another approach, slightly different, but can accomplish the same end goal is using nandroid provided in the custom recovery. i personally prefer nandroid as the source code is available online (i.e. everybody can view exactly what operations it is performing) where as titantium backup does not publish its source code.
before flashing a rom, i'd do a full nandroid backup. after you've flashed the rom, your data *should* still be intact as most ROM's are not scripted to wipe your personal data when you flash them. if for some odd reason your personal data is erased from a ROM flash, which it shouldnt, you can chose to nandroid restore just the /data partition, which is where all custom settings and user data are kept, other than a few which store on the /sdcard.
hope that makes sense and good luck!

Problem with restoring my date from TB

I've deleted all my system data (with CWN) by mistake but just before doing that I've made a TB backup of all my app and system data, and also I've a CWN backup from 2 days ago.
I've restore all my data from the CWN backup but it is missing the all of my data which been saved in the past 2 days since I've done that CWN's backup I'm now trying to restore my app's data from the TB backup (games saves and so) but TB want me to reintall all my apps which are all ready are install on my phone.
Which option in need to choose in order to restore only my app's data (as I've said, games's saves)
please need help with that.
P.S- if I can't restore that data I would like to delete TB, does the Nandroid Backup relay on the TB backup in anyway?
Now kies air doesn't work... after I push the start button the app shutdown.
someone?????

[Q] TiBu and system apps/data

Hello gang,
I'm new to the S4, I used to have and Incredible 2 and I have some questions about using TiBu to backup system apps and data. It seemed like on the S4 there are way more system apps and data than on the Inc 2. According to Tibu there are currently 287 entries (on my phone) that can be backed up by running Backup all system data. Some are apps like Gmail and Amazon and most are other Samsung/Android entries. So my question is, how do you handle backing up system data? Do you use labels, do you just back up everything, something else? Also, do the Redo backups for modified data and Redo backups for newer app versions apply to system apps and data too (I know this is strickly a TiBu question).
Thanks. :good:
Eric
