I tried to mount the sd card on my computer using the Mount button from the notification screen. The phone went through the mounting process and seem to mount the sd card correctly but nothing show up on my computer. I unplugged the phone and rebooted the phone but still the same thing.
Any ideas on how to fix it??
Do you have the debugging enabled? When I do I can't mount the internal or external on my pc, although it says it is on my phone. But when I turn off debugging it mounts fine.
Since the sgs2 will usb mount as two sd cards, is there any way to mount ONLY the external sd card? (as that's where I plan to put the music files)
I tried the "multi mount SD" app - it had the right intention but unfortunately doesn't work, since even though it is not mounted the internal sd is still being read (like a card reader without a card in it)
so the headunit at the moment can only see the internal sd...
also found a "usb sharer" app which can limit what files to mount but it FCs and won't even start in sgs2
any ideas anyone?
Not to necro a post but this kindof helped me out and I would like to answer for anyone else who had similar issues.
I found my SD kept mounting two drives when I only wanted my external SD card mounted so I downloaded "Multi Mount SD-Card" (trial) from the market and it worked for me by changing "what SD card mounts" to "card two" in the settings.
FYI it requires root access.
I have a car stereo that is usb enabled and I would love to use my phone to store my music on and be able to play it through the stereo. The problem I am having is that when I plug the phone in I'm guessing my stereo recognizes the internal storage mounting first and won't pick up the 32GB Micro SD Card.
My Question: Are there any apps out there that will automatically mount the SD when the phone is plugged in, but not mount the internal storage?
I've tried the Auto Mount app, but that mounts internal and external both, I need something that ONLY mounts the SD card.
Thanks.
Not sure if this will work but, I know when you plug into a computer and mount as a disc drive, it unmounts the SD card from the phone for the computer to read. What happens if you unmount the SD card in settings, then plug in your phone? Like I said not sure if it will work, just throwing out ideas.

I'll give that a shot and see what happens. Thanks.
Try This:
Settings>Connect To PC>Default Connection Type>*Change This To Disk Drive*

I think that will cause the same problem as the Auto Mount app though, it mounts both the Phone's Internal and External storage. I'm looking for something that mounts the SD Card only, not both. Thanks though, I'll give it a shot and see if maybe it will mount them in a different order.

Hopefully this isn't insulting your intelligence. But when your phone is mounted as storage, you should see /sdcard/ext_sd . This is a mount point for /sdcard2 so you should be able to access everything on your 32GB card via that directory.

From what I can tell that mount point only works when browsing storage through the phone, when connected to the pc/car stereo it only acts as an empty folder.
I have the same problem with my Galaxy S2.
I pinned my hope on an app called USB Sharer but unfortunately it won't run on my phone, you might wanna give it a try (cost $ though, the developer refunded straightaway when I said it didn't work on my phone)
Supposedly with that app the usb is emulated and so you can pick which files & folders to share
How do I mount an external USB stick? I thought it was under /mnt/usbdisk0, but it's apparently not. I can access this folder and create folders in it fine, but it's still there, and I can manipulate files on it even after I unplug the drive. Also, accessing this directory does not power on the USB light. How do I access external USB drives in OmniROM? The drive is formatted in FAT32, so it should be accessible from any device.
4K android media box with AML812 chip. 2 USB ports, 1 USB OTG port and one SD card slot. Android 4.4.2 (KitKat?)
USB drive connected with FAT system is mounted as read/write device, all SD card I have tested were mounted as read only.
At first I wanted to make firefox to download files to SD card. But firefox had no rights to write to SD.
At second I thought that firefox can't write to SD because new privilages system in KitKat. So I found a solution on the web and have added media_rw entries in permission.xml file in WRITE_EXTERNAL_SD section. But it didn't help.
Then I have found out, that SD card is always mounted as read only by default (by terminal and mount command) - i tried 3 different SD cards, no success.
I have checked SD card with fsck_msdos and externally on my desktop PC - SD card had no errors.
I tried to remount SD as read/write with mount -o remount,rw device from terminal and it worked but apparently only apps with root privilages can write to SD. Firefox still can't write to SD.
And if I close terminal the SD returns to read only state.
Don't know what to do, where to find the solution.
In vold.fstab there is only one command with dev_mount, and this command doesn't have read/write or read only flags (checked dev_mount in the web).
There is no fstab.device files on the box, which are common? in KitKat (above android 4.3) so I am not so sure that this is KitKat device.
Please help to unlock SD card write rights.
EDIT: formatting to exFAT, NTFS or FAT32 with 32KB chunk size didn't resolve anything (advice from some android forum). My device doesn't recognize exFAT, and the rest give me read only mount point.
I installed Paragon exFat, NTFS app. It can't mount SD correctly at all. It unmounts mounted SD very good though. It can't check and fix SD because /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 is read-only file system.
The same goes for format - Error 0x1e from mkhfs.
When I try to mount SD with Paragon nothing happens (the mount button is still active, and unmount is inactive), and android memory settings show that SD card has been mounted as 803 MB card, not 16 GB card (14,84 GB exact capacity). Paragon can only unmount SD.
Now I see that I can't even format SD card from android memory settings. When I choose format, it unmounts SD card but then nothing happens. There is no format operation going on.
Really I don't have any more idea.
