Autofocus not working after upgrade to litening rom 1.2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just upgraded to litening ROM 1.2 (from 1.1), and the camera autofocus is not working anymore. No error shown, but all my pictures are blurry.
All apps using the camera seem to be impacted.
PS: I'd like to post this in the ROM thread, but I don't have enough posts yet...

I have the same problem with the recent 1.3. Will try a fallback to 1.1...

Same thing back to 1.1, even after flashing back to stock KE7 + 1.3.
Something else must have changed...

turn macro focus off, and switch it to auto

Thanks fit the reply, but that's the first thing I've tried...
Macro mode is blurry as well by the way. I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue.
Does the auto focus make some noise? Not the android sound, but mechanical one.

is it possible you accidentally changed some camera settings or camera mode?
Try going to the camera settings menu (bottom left corner of the camera app), scroll that menu all the way out, and pick "reset". This will reset your camera to factory settings. See if the problem still persists.
Or it could be too dark, and auto mode cannot focus. you need to engage night mode. but first try setting reset above.

My guess would be you've switched the macro function on at some point (either deliberately or accidentally) and then forgotten to switch back to auto-focus (I had the same problem with mine until I realised what it was!).
Go to Settings down in the bottom left of the camera screen, then select 'Focus Mode' and change back to 'Auto focus'.
I didnt turn anything on or off, i flashes the firmware to ke7. but it stopped working before i flashed. also i have reset the cam settings tons of times, nothing seems to work. it goes out of focus right after it starts focusing, and then the red bare thing comes up
It is obviously software issues, because its gets perfectly focussed before it goes blurry again
Hmm is it the macro mode issue that I read about?
Never heard anything like what you are describing, sorry.
Please do update this thread if you figure out the issue.
re-flash or update the camera's firmware
+1 to this problem. It's frustating.
I got the same problem. I just give the phone a tap on the back and it starts working again. Its so weird... i'm thinking my camera autofocus is dodgy/stuck
Try Settings >Applications >Manage Aplications > All > Camera > clear DATA
Or are you sure there is no dust on the Lens????? Trying wiping it clean
If both the above Dont work ... I dont you and you dont know me
bump..
have the same issue...
no focus at all in video mode.
i reset the camera setting a few times, delete all data from the camera app, still no luck.
my cam FW is :
cam fw ver : scef02
phone fw ver : tbec28
please advise as this is getting really frustrating...
many thanks.
Samsung I9100 camera focus problem
Hi,
I have the same issue as described above. Perhaps it occured just as I updated to Android version 2.3.3, not sure but could be.
Anyone found a solution to this problem?
auto focus doesn't work correctly out of the box
Hello,
Just got a brand new GSII from Sprint; awesome!! AutoFocus though is CRAZY and possessed!! it will be in focus then go out of focus... non-stop... did this from day one; Running 2.3.4 does not seem to do this with the still camera.
I'm having the same problem. I tried switching roms, going back to stock, nothing helped. Anyone having a solution? It is a software issue, because 3 days ago mine was working for like 5 min..
bump.bump.bump
!
I had the same problem but disappeared cleaning the lens from the fingerprints and grease
I finally rooted and the flashed Galnet Miui, but then the quality of photos dropped. So I flashed another ROM, same results. So now i restored backup of my original ROM and it got better, but still nowhere near the quality of pre-root.
So I messed up camera for nothing =/
I have the same problem, with one small difference, i dropped the phone in the toilet. Got it dry, changed the camera and now I have this focus problem. In camera mod, if I touch the screen the camera will focus, but it doesn't focus from the moment I start the Camera app. So since the camera don't auto-focus by itself when I go into video mod the image is all blurry.

Xperia P + Manual install of ICS Central European Version Camera

Hi, I have installed the ICS rom released in the Xperia P dev section, the central european version. I have installed a clean version in that the phone was wiped whilst flashing. When in camera mode, the pictures taken are perfect, however when in camcorder mode, if I pan the camera to the right, a green line appears on the left of the video. If I pan the camera to the left, there is no such light.
The issue is only visible when viewing the video back, not when recording. Has anyone else experienced this issue ? any advice ?

[Q] your camera firmware and autofocus

hello everyone. i am currently running 4.0.3 ICS with siyah kernal
My camera application is version 1.0
phone and cam firmware is OMEF01
my camera works fine except that it cannot autofocus on its own.
if i were to use the camcorder, the focus would be stuck in one focus position and will not autofocus causing blurr even if i moved my hand closer to the lens.
The same goes for the camera. i have to manually tap the screen for it to focus even when the camera settings is set to autofocus.
so i was wondering if anyone has their sgh i777 that has both camcorder and camera autofocus working like it should.
and what firmware are you using?

no that is incorrect. there is no autofocus setting for the camcorder it should focus on its own since you cannot tap the screen to focus it.
my camera use to focus on its own when i put my finger close to it. but now when i do it, its just a blurr unless i tap the screen.
I do not think the rom caused this as it does not change the firmware of the camera.

Flash back to stock
Bleh
Download a rom, boot into recovery, and do a full wipe (obviously if you're on the stock ics kernel u should flash a different kernel first) then flash the rom and see if it's fixed. Basically u need to find out if it's hardware related or software related.

can you be more specific on what "rom" to download. i currently have the siyah kernel so im guessing that isnt the stock kernal?

Any rom u want. And siyah kernel isn't the stock kernel so you're good to go as far as wiping goes.
To clarify... that's any ROM for this phone.

well ok im going to do a full wipe and install jelly bean.
and if the camera's autofocus still does not work. can i assume it be hardware related?
i once installed a camera firmware which led my camera to not work and show only a black screen. and you can even see the camera focusing and making the noises if you turned the phone and looked at the lens...but the camera did not work.
more night auto focus is dificult
I think its ics. Just upgraded from gingerbread recentlyand its the same as yours now.

[Q] How to change camera resoluton to a ported rom?

I ported some rom to my device (star 9770 mtk6577) but all of them have the same problem: front camera not working. As far as i remember by the first time it worked but taking photos at 3Mpx (it should be a 0.3Mpx) but now when i switch to it the screen becomes black as the camera was covered (but it isn't) and the phone becomes slower until i switch to the main camera. The problem is still remaining running a MIUI with the same kernel so i think the problem may be there. Is it possible that the high resolution could have broke down that camera and is there any way to revive it?
EDIT
That wasn't the problem, probably the front camera is detached from the electric contacts and it don't work properly. In fact sometimes when I press on the camera it begins to work.

Focus problems on third party apps

Hi everybody,
I was looking to buy a gimbal for my phone, and to choose which one to buy I tested some camera apps that can be controlled by the gimbal (DJI and Zhiyun official apps, and Filmic).
I sadly noticed that although the LG Camera allows me to correctly focus from macro to infinite, on all these third party apps I can focus from macro to about a couple of meters far, not more.
Does anyone have the same bug? I'm running stock Oreo firmware with MK2000 kernel (necessary choiche, as Magisk breaks the flashlight when using the stock kernel).
I attach here my /system/vendor/etc/camera/camera_config.xml file, as it seems that playing with the TotalFocusDistance and MinFocusDistance values changes the behaviour of the manual focus wheel in the apps, but I still didn't find how to focus to the infinite.
Maybe I edited that file and I forgot about it?:silly:
EDIT: the problem only occours with manual focus. Autofocusing works great.
