When I turn on the phone while holding down vol down + power, the phone gets stuck at
SD checking...
loading [legediag.zip]...
Any ideas? I can access recovery via Rom Manager, but I'm scared to flash anything now in case I get bootloops or something, then I'll be totally stuck!
EDIT: this all happens on the white HBOOT screen, before I am able to scroll with the volume buttons.
I've tried using a 2gb SD rather than my usual 16gb SD and it worked, albeit slowly. Does anyone know why this would happen when I've never had any such issues in the past? I flashed ogo2's New Sense ROM yesterday, and its after that I've been experiencing problems.
Are you sure your Micro SD card is fine ? Perhaps you can do an error scan on your computer...
Sorry, forgot to say I solved it on Thursday! It was something to do with an error with SD Speed Boost. I changed the speed to 1024mb then back to 2048mb and it worked.

So, i was in the final stages of loading a custom rom to the eris, as ive done a hundred times.. finished it, rebooted the phone, edited nam in cdmaws.. rebooted.. now im effed.. the phone will show the three android skaters.. and then vibrate 5 times and turn off and then it just sits there with a black screen and green light flickering at the top, i have to remove the battery to get any response from the phone, hitting the power buttin, and then it just does the same thing.. ive tried master wipe, its successful, but when the phone reboots, i get the same result.
it wont talk with the pc so i cant communicate with it..
and ideas? ive honestly done more eris's than i can count.. well, my quickbooks can count it for me.. but thats irrelevant..lol
its just this one fone im having the issues with.. hard reset is successful in its process.. but no successful in fixing the problem. and i have no other ideas.. i have access to the sdcard and have tried starting over at the PB00IMG.zip point.. and no luck..
you fix my problem - i got a trigger happy donating finger.. (im very generous)
you cant boot into recovery, wipe it, then flash a new rom?
i can boot into recovery and either fastboot - which lets it talk to my pc, or recovery, which is the stock recovery option, and it fails.
i can load the PB00IMG.zip from the sd card..
i wish there was something i could put on the sd card - for the normal stock recovery to recognize and install.. i dont know why i lost my custom recovery it doesnt make sense..

Take the sdcard out of the phone and put it into a usb reader?
Have you tried formatting the sd card? I know in the early days of root some people were having problems with the .zip being read, they formatted and worked with no more issues

So I've been reading all the threads about recovery, and I'm just at a loss as to what to do. Here's what happened - and not sure how it happened which is even more disturbing. (Unit is 5 days old from Amazon)
I had VEGAN-Tab installed on the unit, and it was working just fine. I was playing with some MicroSD cards, and left the unit with a 2 Gig one in, that I formatted through VEGAN-Tab (no real issues from what I can tell). I left it charging and went out.
When I came home, I grabbed the tab and it was powered down, which was odd. I went to boot it and got the GTab animation which repeated over and over. I figured something went haywire (what's disturbing is I have no idea why) but I figured - OK was 5 days old.. not much on there.. I"ll just blow it away.
The problem is I can't get anything to work properly. Recovery DOES get me into ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.1.8 but while in there, I can't do anything with the internal SDCard. I keep getting "Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk2p1" or when I try to wipe the system I get "Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk3p2 (no such file or directory)" as well as "No app2sd partition found, skipping format)... etc.
So I can't even wipe the SDCard. I've tried doing the NVFlash to connect and re-write, but with CWM I can't seem to get to the point where the PC sees the device in recovery mode - only as a removable drive (running windows).
Not sure what my next step is - so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Ok - first DUH is my own - was trying to recover by hitting Volume + not Volume - .. my mistake.. NVFlashing now.. Still don't know what happened and why the SDCard went Haywire.
Anyone have any ideas on that one? Don't want it to happen again!
UPDATE - and now even after NVFlashing I can't get it to boot into recovery or normally.. Keep getting birds, then GTABlet, and then nothing. When using the Vol + option, I get that it's booting to recovery, and then I get a BANG symbol and then a reboot.. Not sure what to do..
UPDATE 2- And now insult to injury - the unit won't even turn on. It recognizes power plugged in, but the power button does nothing. I'm going to leave it plugged in for a while and hopefully leaving it will eventually make it work. /sigh/ Any help would be great.....
UPDATE 3 - And TapNTap is back... after another flash... Whew- Ok all.. Now the question is WHY did it happen? Any ideas?
Having trouble with the Radio for GB... i cannot get the phone past the HTC quietly brilliant, I have tried taking the battery out and then restarting but when I boot into recovery it tries to update the radio and then restarts to the quietly brilliant screen
To make it stop trying to flash in the bootloader you need to take the sd card out of the phone and use a card reader on a PC to delete or rename the PG05IMG.zip that is on the sd card. I dont know about the phone not booting. But once you remove that file you can select recovery in bootloader to get to CWR.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
Don't forget most of the GB roms tell you to flash the rom first then the radio.
Flash rom
Don't boot into it. Adb reboot or batt pull
Hboot radio
Reboot normally
use adb to boot into recovery
adb reboot recovery
help
ok this might be a noob question by i am trying to update my radio and i went into my sd card delated the old one and tryed to install the new one idk if any thing happend tell me if i did someting wrong and what i can do to fix it
com.android.phone force close on Das Bamf 2.0.5
I am having a problem with com.android.phone force closing and then taking a while to turn back on while using Das Bamf 2.0.5. only to fc again.
I have installed the GB radios (not using CWR or ROM Manager) only hboot, checked the MD5 on both files, all good there. factory reseted my device countless times which it then works for a little bit until the fc starts again.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
This was also happening on 2.0.4.01

Just like JBO1018 mentioned take the sd card out and then you should be able to get to recovery by holding down the volume - button and power and then selcet recovery with the volume key and select using the power button. From there you should be able to do a factory reset which should fix your issue of not booting.
Also, if you have another way to connect your sd card to your PC rename or delete the PG05IMG file.
A few weeks ago, I decided to install Liberated Aria. I had a few problems with the installation, but eventually it ended up working fine. Last night, I turned my phone off and turned it back on this morning, but now it won't boot. When I turn the phone on, I get:
LIBERTY PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.57.0000
MICROP-031b
TOUCH PANEL-STN 21_00
RADIO-7.08.35.06
MAY 8, 2010,03:56:58
FASTBOOT
and then the options:
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
When I try to boot into recovery, I eventually get:
SD Checking. . .
Loading . . .[LIBEDIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading. . . [LIBEDIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading. . . [LIBEIMG.zip]
No image!
Loading. . . [LIBEIMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image.
and the options change to:
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
The only problem is that I can't select any of the options. None of the buttons - volume, power, whatever - change or select anything. I can't get past either of these screens. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this kind of thing, so any help would be appreciated.
The phone will automatically boot into FASTBOOT mode if you hold down the trackpad button while pressing the power button. Is it possible that your trackpad button is broken and is being registered as held down? Try messing with it to see if you can fix it. Otherwise you may have to get the phone replaced if it's under warranty.
This issue does not sound like it is related to installing Liberated Aria.
The trackpad button feels the same as it always has when I click it and I don't see anything visibly wrong with it, so I don't see why it would be registered it as clicked. I tried pushing it and all the other buttons a number of times with the same results. I even took off the screen protector thinking maybe that was causing a problem. Is there a way I can just put an image on my SD card and have it automatically boot that so I can fix it?
Doesn't installing a custom bootloader and/or ROM void the warranty?
Well, you probably will be able to simply run the 2.1 RUU on your phone since you can get to FASTBOOT. I'd probably recommend that over doing the SD card method because when you do the SD card method, you have to press a couple buttons to confirm actions which may not work if your phone isn't accepting button presses. The RUU method does not involve any button presses on the phone itself.
However if you want to try the SD card method I can point you in the right direction.

Installing a custom bootloader would for sure, but you don't have a custom bootloader. Installing a custom ROM does, but you can reverse the process (via RUU) so they can't really tell.
I downloaded the 2.1 RUU, booted to recovery, connected my phone to my computer, and tried to run the RUU but it gave me a USB connection error. Windows also gave me a USB device not recognized error. My phone does say HBOOT USB PLUG, though. Aside from HTC Sync, do I need another driver?
Do you still have the HBOOT driver installed from when you used Unrevoked? If so you should uninstall that driver I believe. That might be interfering.
Also trying running the RUU when your phone is in FASTBOOT, not HBOOT, to see if that works.
I did have the HBOOT driver still installed. I uninstalled it from device manager and deleted the driver folders. Android Phone doesn't show up in device manager anymore. I retried running the RUU in HBOOT and tried running it in FASTBOOT and still get the USB connection error. Any other ideas?
Try reinstalling HTC sync
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
Also try doing it on a different computer if you have access to one. Preferably one that never had any drivers on it before. Just install HTC Sync, then run the RUU, that's it.
I've always had trouble getting the RUU to run. It's bizarre.
If that doesn't work, and you still want to try the SD card method, you can download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?ct1ay7t93d8g742
Rename the zip file to LIBEIMG.zip then place it on the SD card. Then it should automatically detect the file next time you're in HBOOT and ask you if you want to proceed with the install. It's pretty self explanatory. Be patient as some steps take a while and it may appear like nothing is happening. It takes about 5 minutes to finish installing everything and will reboot once during the process. After it's done (it will tell you when it's done), the phone will reboot and there will be a scary looking screen but JUST WAIT about 10 seconds and it will boot normally. Then you're good to go.
After you're done with this, make sure to DELETE the LIBEIMG.ZIP file from your SD card. Otherwise it will ask you every time you go into HBOOT if you want to apply the update.
I reinstalled HTC Sync and it wouldn't recognize the phone was connected.
It seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Now, it won't even turn on. The screen turns on (but stays black) and off and the notification light flashes red when connected to a computer but won't do anything at all when it's not connected. I'll try to plug it into a wall instead of a computer and let it charge for a while and try the SD card method.
I went in today to get it checked out and got a new SIM card and a new battery and it fixed the problem.
Thanks a ton for all the help.
I installed Elegancia (stock/senseless) yesterday and noe I can't boot.
It's going to the htc One boot screen but hanging or if I try to go into recovery I get the 'Checking SD card update' message and then nothing.
Any ideas? I've had a look at similar threads but they've been no help
OH! And I can't get the bloody thing to switch off either!
