I have a strange request...is there anyway to get the voodoo lady's voice as a notification tone? I just love hearing it...kinda weird I guess, but what can I say!? Any help or comedic replies are welcome! Thanks!

Go, HERE. Choose voice linda and effect old robot. After you demo it and make her say some nasty stuff to you click the "download voices" link and get linda for your OS version. Once installed in options choose robot effect again. Clear all text in window and type a message put cursor at beginning of text and hit play. Put cursor at beginning again next hit file/export audio file and name it what and put it where you want. Now you can copy file over to device (rootEx or adb) to system/media/audio/notifications and reboot. YAY! It might also help to open the file in an audio editor and increase the volume of the file.
Example
good day.
Thanks chopper...you be the man! At least I know I'm not the only guy that has a thing for the voodoo chick!

Came up with a couple of different types of notifications and increased the gain of the audio files. The zip (edify) below includes 4 notification files that are added to system/media/audio/notifications should you want to delete them.
2 for messaging
1 for email
1 for voice mail (preview provided)
*sample* voodoo_vm
***080511*** Added MTD/AOSP zip for use with VGB, CM7, MIUI, and omgb and omfgb
good day.

Right now I am using the latest version of trigger, I don't have a tone for my dialer on key presses, I have a .ogg file in my /system/media/Audio/ui that is labeled as dialer tone or something like that. How do I make that tone and the dialer work together?
Edit: Ok, maybe I should be more specific, I checked the box in settings/sounds that allowed me to receive a tone, I just want to be able to change it, and maybe a couple of other tones on my phone.
Thanks in advance

There are many programs on the internet that will change mp3 or a sound bit to .ogg. Then rename it to dial.ogg or what ever you want to replace. Then just use root explore to puse it onto your phone
On my EVO and EVO Shift I could set the voice mail notification to "None" so that it did not make a noise EVERY time I got VM. However on my new 3D that option is missing and only allows me to change the sound, no option to turn it off.
I need help please! As my friends and family get really irritated at me when I turn VM off completely.
TIA

hmm, interesting. You're correct, I couldn't find a way to shut the sound off either. As you stated, there was no selection for 'none'. I was unable to find anything in the regular phone settings either. Perhaps you could use an app such as ring tone trimmer or something, and create a ringtone which is just silence, and then select that? I'll try that and see if it works, give me a few.

Okay, I got it to work. Download an app called 'ringdroid.' Then choose 'record new'. Use the sound recorder, and record 10 seconds or so of complete silence, then stop it. Then choose 'use this recording'. Then it brings you to a screen where you can edit the ringtone, but you don't need to do that. Just hit the save button. At that point, change the Type to Notification, instead of ringtone. Change the name to something like "silence" or whatever, and hit save. Then it'll ask you to make it the default notification sound, choose no. Then go back into your voicemail app, and go to the settings>notifications>select sound. Then look in the list, and the ringtone you made will be in there. Choose the silent ringtone you created, and you should be good to go.

Hey guys I am in the process of getting the system sounds from a Samsung Galaxy phone to use on the EVO 3D but when trying to use the files off the Samsung they are just to quiet for some reason so I have been trying to find a free way of increasing the volume on the file and still being able to save it in the correct format.
any ideas ?
thanks
Batch-increase volume (amplify) of OGG files (ring tones, notifications)

Yes, I had the same need. If it were MP3 files, I'd lead you straight to MP3Gain. But they're OGG files.
So, you need Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). It's free, open source, for Linux ,Windows, etc.
How to do it (I did it on Windows XP):
Open Audacity
Drag all the OGG files whose volume you want to change, on to the Audacity window
Audacity will open each file in a separate track (you can actually play them all together!)
Press <CTRL><A> to make sure you selected all tracks
Go to the menu Effect/Amplify and choose how much you want to amplify the sounds. If the "OK" button gets disabled, then you must tick the option to allow clipping (some points with distorstion)
Press the Preview button to preview and make sure there's not too much clipping (or any at all). If it's just a notification sound, not a big deal
Happy? Press OK to accept the amplification
Un-select the tracks (click somewhere else with the mouse cursor or press <CTRL<SHIFT><A>
With the cursor, select all the track of only one track (sorry - I didn't find a key combination for this)
Menu File / Export Selection, and choose OGG format
Repear for each one of the tracks.
Hope that helps.

get a 3rd party app like "zedge" and just download a ringtone version of the song... or "Ringtone Maker" from google market, that way you can make it a system file, versus loading up a 5 MegaByte when someone calls..... that will probably create lag.
I use PowerAMP to play my music, and they have a feature built-in to make a ringtone version of the current song you are playing - that's a good route too!
thanks i have downloaded ringtone maker but how do i use it? i cant find any instructions

select a song (the song you said you like) and it should bring up a graph.
Your going to select a window of when you want the song to start and finish.
E.g. Start 0:30 in... end at 0:45. It will save it in a ringtone format for you to select in Settings >>>> Sounds>>>

When you select the song, click the green arrow to the right and select edit. THEN the graph will pop up.

I made a Tasker profile that will basically make the 2nd screen flash, "New Text Message" every 6 seconds until you turn the screen on. The idea for this is that you can now have something noticeable from a distance to alert you that you have a new message.
Let me know if it helps anyone.
*This won't work with 3rd party messaging apps like Tango or Whatsapp.*
How to use:
Download Tasker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Download the zip and extract it to your internal SD/Tasker/profiles
Open Tasker.
Make sure Profiles tab is active, and tap the tab again. Choose Import. Choose Flash_New_Text.

Thank you for this.
Maybe we can think a few ways he can make different ones for different notifications.
For example: if we get a text, we see the text message popup. If we get an email, the second screen cycles through each second window shortcut.

I believe this simply adds a notification and then deletes it after 3 seconds. New notifications appear in the second screen.
downloaded tasker but it did not create a tasker folder in the internal storage
Thanks for the app.
Not sure if it is working correctly...sort of new to this.
Confirmed that the Flash New Text is switched on in Profile
Thunderbolt icon displaying in taskbar
Received text...nothing.
Can you help me...step by step will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have it. Try rebooting your phone.
Are you using the stock messenger app?
When you receive a text with the main screen off, the second screen flashes a "new text message" notification. It flashes every 3 seconds.

I can't answer the GoSMS question, but it's unlikely to work unless GoSMS completely replaces the system's text messaging service.
I updated the original post with a missed call version.

The only notifications that Tasker will allow are for successfully sent SMS messages, new SMS (and/or MMS), and missed calls.
Technically, you can make it work with apps like Tango and Whatsapp, but you'd need Tasker plugins that will allow Tasker to recognize that you received a message. To do this, it would mean that you'd need to create a version for each and every type of messaging service (if there's an available plugin). It's a lot to do and I can't even test them all.

Your normal text message notification does still appear. This creates a separate notification that appears and disappears, causing the 2nd screen to pulse a message that says, "New Text Message." Once the main screen turns on, this pulsing notification simply ends and vanishes. If the main screen is off, and you get a NEW text, it'll start up again.

Create the folders in your internal SD directory.
So create a "Tasker" folder and inside that, a "profiles" folder.

Here's a test version for third party apps like Whatsapp, Tango, etc.
You can try this one if you use a third party text messaging service and the original profile I made doesn't work with that app.
THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES THAT THIS WILL WORK RIGHT, OR EVWN WORK AT ALL!
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/58163c2cbb678/3rd_Party_Texts (EXTRACT ME).zip
To use this, you MUST do the following after importing the profile:
1) Expand the "3rd Party Texts" profile by tapping on "3rd Party Texts." It's expanded if you can see the On/Off toggle.
2) tap the trophy icon
3) tap the rocket ship
4) select your text messaging app
4.5) Leave the rest alone.
5) Press the back button
6) See if it works
Note: Only 1 app will work per this profile. If you use multiple 3rd party apps (Tango AND Whatsapp for example), long press the "3rd Party Texts" text, press the "A" icon in the upper right and rename the profile to something else (ex: Tango), then import the "3rd Party Texts" profile again. Repeat steps 1-6 above, but with your second app.
Repeat everything as many times as necessary.

Sites the icon flash, instead of the text "new text message"? And I think you have to take off the private message settings...

Tried this with Textra, unfortunately it is not flashing
Also tried the Missed call one and it's not flashing on that either. I'm currently streaming music and that icon is there so not sure if that's causing an issue.
When I pull the notification shade down, it says Tasker profile active none even though both of them say on in Tasker.
I have admin turned on and accessibility service turned on for Tasker as well.
EDIT
I fixed the Textra one- basically you have to turn off the "Screen on" option in Textra otherwise that triggers the screen on portion of the Text tasker item.
Still haven't figured out why the missed call one isn't working - at first I thought maybe the initiate time frame was too short so I upped it to 10 sec, but even that isn't triggering the flash.
Added both the NEW TEXT and MISSED CALL profiles to mine.
I haven't tested out the MISSED CALL yet, but it should work exactly like the NEW TEXT.
I have both set to ON.
Does this app Tasker effect the battery life since it is always on and detecting for messages?
Thanks again for your hard work in creating this...greatly appreciated.
