I am surprised that I can't find a lot of people talking about CM7 nightly builds running on the Verizon Fascinate. Anyone out there running a recent nightly? I have already rooted my phone, and am thinking about flashing a nightly, but I want to make sure it's pretty stable first.
How are your experiences?
It's fairly stable. The volume in calls used to be really low but that was recently fixed.
The only major problem that I encounter is that Wifi and Data don't work when they say they're working. All you have to do is switch in and out of Airplane mode once or twice and it should work, but it might get frustrating for some people.
I'm using build 67 with no issues. Loving It.

I've been using the nightlies for quite some time now. As stated, they did have problems, they've pretty much all been rectified - I'm pretty damn picky when it comes to bugs with a phone I use daily, and I have no issues, everything seems to work fine.
Only problem, not sure when this was introduced because I got lazy in updating the nightlies, but somewhere between nightly 35 and when I updated to nightly 68 this morning somebody bundled this "LED Notification Wannabe" crap and I can't figure out how to turn it off - some sources say you can't.
Basically when you get an e-mail or text (every 5 minutes for me), your soft keys stay lit up solid until you view it. Haven't found out how to disable it, not even in the CM7 settings. It's annoying as all hell because it basically means my soft keys are lit up all day.
Though yeah, aside from that, in any of the nightlies I've used pre-36, I haven't had any issues - I mean yeah, I had the volume problem and the SD card wipe, etc., but all of that stuff was rectified a long time ago. Bug free, very stable nightlies...but don't count on it I guess?

Ah, okay, most of the other how-tos for this are deprecated (ie. LED disable in places that no-longer exist in CM7 settings, but I also found this, but to no avail for me. I didn't know I had to change profiles at the end. Thanks, I'll try that now, god I hate that so much .
my personal experience with CM7 on the Fascinate: it's half-baked.
phantom ring problem, where the phone continues to ring after you pick it up to speak to someone.
data stops working and you have to cycle airplane mode to have it work again
battery life sucks
GPS takes 10 minutes to hone in on your location.
I just installed powerwashed GB last week and all these issues are GONE. I have to put up with Sense UI now, but it's a price well worth paying to get rid of constant bugs.
I'll give CM7 another shot when they have a good stable mod.
I'm really happy with the all of the newer builds. In the past (back in the days of build 35) I had lots of bootloop issues and freezeups. Pretty much everything is resolved now.
I don't think I could NOT have a CM7 nightly on my phone haha. You should really check them out.
Even if you hate it just restore your backup!
CM7 used to be very sensitive to low signal areas; the data connection would disconnect and not recover. The only solution then was to try airplane mode and if that didn't work pull the battery.
Has this been fixed?

For me i'm going to say no, not really. My house is in a low signal area and though its improved I still have to do airplane mode from time to time. Different radios made little difference, though ED05 is slightly better than EC09

Obviously replacing Miui with CM7.

I did see jt and andmer on twitter talking about this data issue. So it makes sense that there might be a fix for it in MIUI. Where do I find jt's kernels at?

It could just be Miui, I haven't tried any other roms since I got it working, so it might not work in VGB or CM7. I prefer Miui so once I got it working, I've just left it alone.
I got JTs Kernel from a link he posted on his Twitter account, on the 12th obviously.

Arg, I have this problem - maybe had, I haven't been in a long signal area for awhile.
Doesn't matter though, NOBODY around here or on IRC believed me about the issue, they all just said to re-key the phone by switching phones on VZW to fix that problem.
I'm glad to see people have seen the problem outside of just me.
I haven't tried it lately, b/c there's tons of coverage in my area, but in the earlier builds I definitely had that problem when there's barely any coverage (about 105db signal) for a long time, no wifi on, 3G just cuts and never turns back on.
Never thought I'd be happy to see somebody have an issue, but now I am.
But hey, everybody thought I was lying then so maybe it's not an issue at all? Who knows...
EDIT:
The problem was also shown on VGB and PP.
Running the latest CM7 nightly with Glitch kernel. It flies; rarely have stability issues.
Hi Guys,
Im no Genius when it comes to android, but I have done my fair share of programming before, but my SOD are killing me and a last resort is a warranty exchange as I cannot be without a phone.
So far I have been getting SOD about 5 times a day if not more, and I am one for tinkering with gadgets until i break or crash it, fix it and doing it all over again.
But anyway back on topic
I have noticed this in the build.prop
" persist.ril.mux.sleep=2 "
And so I wondered if this is causing my SOD, does anyone have any ideas regarding its uses?
Findings (as of 2155)
In my testing thus far I have changed it to "persist.ril.mux.sleep=1" using phone leaving it for an hour doing it over just for fun, And I have been SOD for 5 hours straight and haven't had any SOD or adverse battery drain
I mean this may not be the cause of the SOD for me, or anybody but I am up for trying just about anything
What is SOD?
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G using Tapatalk on AT&T, the company that disappoints me so much that I have to use my tapatalk signature to tell everyone
Sorry, Sleep Of Death
I have SOD here too. To me it's only happens when I turned off a data connection (3G or wifi).
I use LoadMonitor app as a workaround for a while, with success.
At now I'm using Neutrino 2.5 CM7 ROM with success too. I think it's more a blur rom problem than cm7 one.
Let us know about your progress.
So if you disable load manager you would get SOD?
I am making a script to update a few things so far no SOD for me, after a few tweaks
What settings are you using on load manager ?
Any info you can give me will help in me tracking down some of the errors and temporary fixes people are using to avoid the dreaded issue
Oh, THAT's what that was!
I forgot to turn the wifi back on a few nights ago when I said "Hey, let's watch some movies on netflix with my super-duper mirroring-abled phone!" So an hour into it, LBE Privacy warns me I'm about to max out my data, and I go turn the damn wifi back on but turned OFF the 3G.
Then last night I go to wake up my phone and the screen is "black but on", & took a couple of tries to wake it. I'm on Nottachtrix.

I'm a bit confused here. I don't know what "load manager" is.
What a sad is I used LoadMonitor app (from market) as a workaround.
LoadMonitor just monitor taks that are running in your device. But it have an option that claims to prevent device deep sleep. So, when I checked this option my device don't get SOD.
It's a workaround, as I sad, and I don't know how LoadMonitor do that.
What is load manager?
Thanks
I had a similar issue, I installed SetCPU and set my minimum speed to ~456(faux 1.45 Kernel).

I tried some roms and the only one I hadn't random reboots was jokersax11 alpha7 (ICI), now I'm on beta 0.2.0 and had reboots.
I'm having the same problem. I've tried 3 different ROMs. I used Nottachtrix, following the directions to the letter with reboots and hard locks. Recently I flashed back to 4.5.91 (w/pudding) and I was having the same issues. I noticed that on the hard locks, my phone appeared to be warm, so I used SetCPU at 216MHz and still had hard locks and random reboots. I've not set the lowest setting at 301 and so far I haven't had any reboots, but its only been about 5 hours. But I was having them at least once every few hours.
BTW - I also noticed that I only had the freezes and hard locks when the phone was running on the battery. I rarely had problems when the phone was on the dock or USB charger, however, I did have reboots when it was on the wall charger.
Another program you can try is call 'Wake Lock' available from the marketplace. I haven't used it yet, I'm still experimenting with load monitor.
Wake lock has a few different options and has some really good review.
I confirmed that Neutrino 2.5 CM7 Rom works great without reboots.
That's a patch you need to apply to correct a battery drain problem of the original version. Notorious544d are working in a 2.6 version including that patch.
To me it's working like a charm. I'm testing for two days but, of course, everyone needs to test it in your own device.
PS: Follow this instructions to install a battery drain patch in Neutrino 2.5 (or wait for a 2.6 version):

Atrix SOD & Random reboots related to Wifi?
Does anyone know if the Atrix SOD & Random reboots are related to WiFi. I've had my wifi off all day and I've had no crashes.
I'm going to run it for a few more days without Wifi and see what happens.
I don't know about other guys, but wifi and 3G was the cause of my Atrix SOD and reboot problems.
Solved it using Neutrino Rom CM7 based.
See you!
Still working on my SOD issue, but recently, I disabled most power options, turned off wifi, rebooted and I've been running for 2 days with no crashes. After day 3, I'm going to turn wifi back on reboot and see what happens.
Update 1
After 3 days with wifi disabled, I've had no crashes, no freezes or random reboots. I'm going to enable wifi again and see what happens.
Update 2
After turning enabling my wifi and using it briefly then turning it back off, I had a random reboot later that evening.
The more I used my wifi, the more frequent my crashes became.
Interesting side note
I can enable all my radios when plugged into the desktop charger and I won't experience any crashes, however, if plugged into to the AC charger, I've had reboots and freezes.
Hi Guys,
i come from the Moto Stock Rom and have flashed Neutrino 2.6EE few days ago.
Now i've got a little issue with the Wifi Connection.
When I unlock the phone and a known wifi (home and work) is in reach, it takes about one minute until the connection is established.
With the stock rom ist takes only a couple of seconds.
When i go into the wifi settings while waiting, the connection will be established immediately.
Does anyone know a solution?
European Atrix
Wifi-Standby: off when display is off
Rom: Neutrino 2.6EE
Baseband: N_01.100.00R
I also have this issue with every CM7 ROM. I believe it is a bug present in all CM7 based ROM. Flashing a new radio or reflashing your old one may fix this issue, but I haven't tried it because I cannot find a working link to the N_01.77.30p radio for a backup in case of failure in the flashing of a more recent one. If anyone could provide a CWM flashable N_01.77.30p radio I could begin testing to fix this problem.

Me too, I used to experience the same problem with older versions of the Neutrino ROM but this new version is working flawlessly. Only one thing, when the screen is off for about 15-20minutes the wifi connection is lost so I keep a wifi settings icon handy on the desktop, but I noticed this issue on the CM7 roms too so it should be a bug there. On CM9 roms the wifi stays on during the whole time maybe try a cm9 rom?
Some reason when I click the download link nothing happens, if you could directly link the file that would be great.
Sent from the Land of Multiple Cores.
This has been discussed many times.
This is either a hardware fault or a CM7 bug. Therefore, I cannot fix it as Neutrino builds are based on CM7, and obviously, if it is a hardware issue, then there's nothing I can do at all.
For now, just pray that CM7 magically fixes it.
I am sorry, I mean no offense to your development, and since my previous post is incorrect or misinformed I am very sorry, and I will change my previous post to reflect this new information. Neutrino is an awesome ROM by the way.
Sent from the Land of Multiple Cores.
I will try a CM9 ROM to see if that fixes the issue. But I will not be able to flash for awhile since I am on a business trip. If someone else could try it out and report findings that would be great.
Sent from the Land of Multiple Cores.
I'm on Jokerz version 0.3ish and turning on wifi gives me an error report followed by random reboots. The problem did not originate with this ROM and I've flashed a handful of different ROMs with no fix.
I got smoked by Windows just for the free phone so I can sell it.

So we have all this hardware problem?
Because I have the same issue with my Stock Rom 2.3.4.
What is your advice?Bring it to Motorola Support or wait in this "magical fix"?
This is most likely a hardware issue.

With the original rom version (45.31.1.MB860.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU) that was on my phone, the Wifi connection was established much faster.
The second thing is, when I went into the wifi settings while waiting, the connection will be established immediately. It turns from searching to getting ip and then connected.
So I can't believe that this is a hardware problem. I think the phone is waiting for something before the connection will be made or so.
I've serarched a bit an found that:
Notorious544d said:
When your device is connected to Wi-Fi, then it will consume less battery as it needs less 'juice' to receive data from a Wi-Fi network than a cellular network.
However, if you are on 3G, but have Wi-Fi enabled, then your phone will consume more battery than with Wi-Fi disabled as the phone frequently scans for Wi-Fi networks. The scan time is configurable and stock ROM and CM7 scan every 30 seconds, whereas Neutrino ROM scans every 2 minutes. This means that Neutrino will have slightly better battery with Wi-Fi always enabled as it scans 4x less than normal.
To configure the scan time, you'll have to edit the build.prop.

I measured it again, how much time passes before the connection is available.
It takes about 2 minutes and 5 seconds, until the connection is there.
I think it is related to the scan-intervall.
Can you change the setting, that the phone will scan for wifi when it will be unlocked?
Hello guys ...
I have a problem that I think is well known to you.
Since I changed the stock ROM on my phone, it turns off itself.
This only happens when the screen is off, and it happens even if I listening music.
Sometimes it happens as soon as I lock the screen (delay 2s and it turns off).
In an attempt to discover what it is, I downloaded the app CatLog and started recording the LogCat. But when I to recording the logcat, it doesn't turn off. I already left him one day and a half (this app really sucks the battery) and it does not shut down. And it also doesn't turn off if it on charge.
The ROMS and Kernels I tried are:
MROM CM7 (HV and SV Kernel)
neutrino
Nottatrix 4G (International and both the Tegra version)
Original CM7.2 (Stable and Nightly)
and 2 others that I can't remember the name.
The only ROM that doesn't rebooting (stayed two days without rebooting) was MROM CM9.
And I saw that some people talked about the AT & T SIM, but my phone was bought here in Brazil, and obviously, from another carrier (Claro) and have this SIM (from another carrier: Oi) at 6 month.
What is happening??
Thanks a lot.

Same problem here,
Try wiping dalvik Cache about 10 times ..it worked for me ...
I also had this problem ...but it got solved becaz I had a backup of good runing rom without SOD
Can you turn the phone on if it shuts down or do you have to remove battery? I had the problem only on Neutrino rom, but I didn't do a clean install so I thought it was that
I had this problem in all ROMs based on Android 2.3.x. .. including all kernels from nottatrix, with some of them the phone not started.
But I do not have this problem with the new kernel (3.1.10) .. or with CM9 nor the CM 10.1 Epinter. The problem with this kernel is when it heats up very much, the screen tearing.
And no, I do not need to remove the battery ... if I hit once as if I turn on the screen, he turn on himself.
I've tried to save the logcat with the application Catlog and put him to save every 1 line, but not the right ... he save the log a few minutes before turning off.
As the 3.1.10 kernel works, I believe that is not a hardware defect.
My memory is: 0x00EF (0xBEEF)
TegraTevision: A03 prime

thanks ...

So what you're saying is that an ALPHA STAGE KERNEL AND ALPHA STAGE ROM is giving you random shut downs? What's that old saying about ALPHA STAGE anythings? Major bugs present, not suitable for daily use, use at your own risk rings a bell. Also, some devices will have the random reboot/shut down bug. That goes back to board revision. Personally, I deal with the reboots and I'm on the same ROM.

I too deal with reboots but my experience is the same as MaxiPresi in that I had this problem in all ROMs based on Android 2.3.x. .. including all kernels from nottatrix AND the current CM stable 7.2.0 so the issue I'm experiencing is NOT only because this is an alpha build !
I've also replaced my battery for a new one but still the issue remains..

In the post that I replied to, you only stated that you had issues with CM10.1/3.1.10 kernel, which is why my post was worded the way it was. you didn't specify that it was also with GB based ROMs as well. The only thing that makes sense at this point is a board/hardware related issue. As I briefly said in my last post, we all have different board revisions. We all won't see the same results. Thats why you see people talking about having screen tearing issues when others have no issue. I suspect its the same in regards to this issue.
So guys, I've been having some issues with WiFi on my S3 and I resort to posting here only after trying everything else that I can think of. I'm well aware of the rules regarding noobs on XDA and I hope that I haven't broken any of them.
The Problem: All networks are detected within normal range, but attempting to connect to them results in a "Saved, secured/open" result, while not connecting. Sometimes, by spamming the connect button, I can connect to a network for a few minutes, but will not get a working internet connection, just WLAN connection. Finally, when anything related to WiFi is left on, I experience extreme battery drain, surpassing even screen use in battery consumption.
What I've done:
Tried CM10.1 and CM10.2 AOSP ROMS, as well as Omni 4.4 ROMs.
Did some searching, tried various Stock based ROMs, same issue present.
Searched some more, tried flashing a stock ROM through Odin..same issue. (Although I did not leave it long enough to test battery drain.)
Tried that wifi patch for custom roms floating around, makes no difference.
Deleted files (on a fresh install) in the /data/ folders as suggested in several posts. No help.
Tried flashing a few modems, one did in fact seem to help my mobile data signal, but no luck for WiFi.
Tried the AOSP roms above with 1-2 different kernels.
Hit phone lightly against wall.
Remove MicroSD card.
I cannot remember exactly what happened when I noticed the issue because it was during the Christmas celebrations and I was staying at family. I chalked it up to their possibly shoddy router and made a mental note to reflash my rom when I got home, which is when I realised it wouldn't be such a simple fix.
I'm already preparing to buy a new phone (thinking Xperia Z), but I decided to post here as a last resort. I know this has been asked a lot, but I decided to post because I experience the same issue on the stock ROM, a symptom not listed in any of the reported cases posted.
Thank you guys for your help, I'd love to just be able to fix this issue and be done with it rather than shell out for a new phone. Hope everyone has a happy new year!
