Sprint employee wanting Evo 3D? - HTC EVO 3D

Any other Sprint employees trying to get an Evo 3D? I'm a B2B rep for a preferred dealer and I got the same old story they gave everyone last year with the Evo. EMPLOYEES MUST WAIT!
Anyway around this? buying the phone at full price? Just started at Sprint 2 months ago so I'm not that familiar with how this stuff works yet.

You are an employee? Radio Shack didnt ask to change you plans?
Im on SERO-P and trying to figure out where i can upgrade aside from Sprint.

I am sure if you go into the shack or BB and pay full retail for it they will not question you as to why you want to not have them activateit for you.

It's my understanding that when you call Sprint customer care to activate the phone, they wont put it on your employee plan. I'd consider paying full price but I don't want to get stuck with a $500 phone I can't use.

i'm not 100% positive but I believe they still ask you to change plans online. anyone else have more information on this? this will be my 1st upgrade on an employee plan and i'm just going off the information my co-workers have given me.

Thought I saw something on iconnect today to the effect that employees could get the 3d on launch day.

iconnect? not sure what that is lol. like i said, im kinda new and i dont work in a retail location.

from what I remember as a Corp sprint employee, they wouldn't even activate a phone that was on the hold list, even if you bought it outright, pretty much out of luck.

I don't think there's anyway around it.. Besides paying full retail..

As of right now, employees can get the Evo 3D on lunch day. Just keep in mind with Sprint, that is subject to change at any moment lol. This is what I got from iConnect and what upper management is saying so far.

Just left the Verizon Store...

I'm at the mall here where I live. I go into the Verizon store rocking my new EVO 3d. First question they ask me is can I help you. I said I'm just looking. They asked do you have cellphone service now. I replied ...yeah with Sprint. The sales associate said...oh...we can't compete. She then asked me ...what phones do you and your wife have. I said my wife has the EVO 4g and I have the EVO 3D. Again the sales associate said...can't compete again.
I was like wtf...and the bad thing is was that she was the manager. She was like Sprint is the only company that has true unlimited data..and their prices is good as well.
I know it don't mean anything but i just had to post this

Verizon has been more expensive than Sprint.. so has AT&T and they still gain more customers than Sprint does regardless. I doubt there will be a mass exodus of customers.

Gotta move carriers

So its time for me to jump ship and move to a new carrier (Moved away and sprints service here is even worse then were I was) I'm not getting calls for job call backs which is hurting me a lot. So I will be switching to T-Mobile or Verizon. Never will go back to AT&T.
I love this phone though. I was a Evo 4G owner before EVO 3D. What phone would be best suited for me that is currently out, or coming out in the future for either carrier? Must be VERY powerful (I like saying I have one of the most powerful smartphones in available) And it needs to have a huge XDA base. I'm a flashaholic... (Pretty much rules out samsung...
You picked the 2 best carriers...
Verizon - Galaxy Nexus
There should be a lot of ROM's, cyanogenmod support should be quick, and the bootloader will be unlockable right after you get it. This is probably the choice that I would go with since the galaxy nexus is a google phone, the XDA base will be the largest, etc. etc. The Galaxy Nexus will be google's and verizon's flagship phone.
T-Mobile - One of the Sensation phones
I don't know which one has the largest XDA base, but I think all sensation phones are the same software wise (so it might just be one section). The sensation is also the flagship tmobile phone. I think the sensation has a great developer base since there is already ICS source ROM available.
Definitely the Sensation or Amaze 4G. Just one glance to he Sensation forums should give you an idea how big it is. It's at least twice as big than here.

Hm. I'll be going with the Galaxy Nexus when it comes out then.
Never had the nexus, or nexus S so it looks good to me.

If he's already switching, them possibly terminating his account isn't going to matter much. Besides, he'll save some money in the meantime
As for battery drain, I don't recall anyone running 11115 complaining about anything like that

True, if he wants to get terminated he actually should use that PRL and stream videos/download movies/etc.
Roaming heats up my phone and drains battery but maybe the same effect isn't present on the PRL.
I will be paying the early termination fee to sprint.
If you go with Verizon, the HTC Rezound is the most comparable to the E3D, with a faster processor and a better screen (but minus the 3D camera, of course).

I think if you move and don't have service, they might let you out of the fees. Nextel did that for me around 10 years ago without me even asking.

Yeah, go ahead and carefully look at the terms if service allows this. All carriers used to do it. Tmobile doesn't anymore for sure. I'm guessing sprint will be the same, that if you move into an area that has bad service that clause in the contract is null. It is worth a look, because if you signed the version of the contract that allows cancellation after moving to a bad service area you have the right to not pay etf.

If I HAD to go another carrier I probably would go the galaxy nexus of course. If you like what HTC is doing then the Rezound is the perfect choice

Experience switching carriers

I am asking this because a friend was with sprint but switched to vz.
And he told me to get him to switch they gave him a free rezound and waved the down deposit.
I'm calling BS. but is there any possibility of truth in this?
If so, I may switch.

Upgrade to EVO 4G LTE by buying out contract

My sister wants to get this phone and she is still on the EVO 4G.
I told her she could just buy out her contract if she wants the full discount. It's only $50.00 (she's a few months out).
The Corporate Sprint store said she had to hand in her old EVO 4G to do the Buyout. She wants to keep it and sell it (she already got offered like $130.00 for it).
She called Sprint and she said she had to go to a Store to do it.
I thought you could just call up sprint, payoff contract and then buy and Sprint phone after full discount from any authorized dealer with a 2 year renewel.
And sell your old phone any old time you want.
I bought out of my contract no problem...they never asked for me to return anything back....besides that she paid for her of EVO with her money I would call again and speak to a diffrent service rep....

No point in calling again. That info is correct. Sprint modified the program. It is no longer being performed thru customer care. It is now being done in the stores and a buyback of the old device IS required. You were told correctly. Customer care can't offer this anymore. It must be done in the stores. This was done to reduce issues from the previous program.

Unless that changed in the last couple of months, its nonsense. Or unless my situation was different. I had three lines on my account and terminated two of them for $50 each over the phone and didn't have to give them a thing.

Couldn't a person just buy some piece of junk on craigs list, activate it on the line and give them that? (moment old blackberry etc) My kid has an epic touch with a crack in the screen that only can be seen with the screen off and they want to give him 40 bucks for it, i don't think so.

A couple of internal docs regarding the new buy-out program were posted on Inside Sprint Now, which of course doesn't exist any more. Yes, starting in the second half of June early buy-outs are only supposed to be done through corp stores and yes, you have to turn in the phone that Sprint gave you in the previous upgrade cycle. The fee depends on the age of the current phone. It is a new program though, so you might still be able to do it the old way by calling customer service and without trading in your current phone, just depends on CSR's knowledge and luck.
Wow, just another reason to leave Sprint I guess. I think that's pretty dumb, as you essentially loose the money you paid for the device. Unless the money you paid to get the device is somehow subtracted from the price you pay to buy out the contract.
yeah this is bs, why would i pay off the rest of the fone just to turn in the fone and buy a new contract.... if sprint keeps this, they are gonna use alot of business....
You people are ridiculous....
How about you wait until your contract is up then? Then you can upgrade and keep your phone. If u want to upgrade early this is how you have to do it. Otherwise don't do it. Simple. Yet another reason to leave sprint? Lol. That sounds silly. Please explain to me how other providers run their buyout programs.

I never let a "contract" sway when I do anything.
I think it's ridiculous when folks say I can't do X because they are under contract.
ok so i guess we're pretending that they didn't just take away the premire upgrades. you should be able to buy out the rest of your contract and not have to turn in the phone too, thats not a good deal, say you pay 165 to end your contract and then have to turn in a 500+ plus phone just do get a new one, might as well just pay the etf and keep the phone, u could actually make more money to get a new phone this way.

Just depends on the phone you have.
This is one specific program.. there are others
The push with buyback of the current phone in this specific program is the increased need for phone recycling, which sprint currently leads in.
The crying over contract changes that happened 6 months ago or more is just silly. Premium customers received one last upgrade to be used by end of year.
