Hey guys, 4 out of 5 times I get a phone call or I make a call out my phone apk force closes on me. It is really starting to tick me off and I wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem.
Any suggestions? I'm loving the rom itself and not having any issues with anything else but the phone not working. It is having me think about downgrading back to a froyo build.
Thanks in advance.
I had the same problem on 2.0.5. I went ahead and wiped all data and reinstalled... Problem fixed.
Did you try to restore data that had to do with dialer storage? If you restore, for example, texts or call logs with TiBackup on a different version of Android, Dialer will force close.
wipe wipe and wipe than reistall, I havent had one FC........
I've done some searching on Google and didn't find anything helpful yet. I am running a mostly stock (rooted) ED04 w/ OTB 1.6 Kernel.
When I boot up my phone, I get a FC on com.android.mms
When I go into my Messaging and open an existing message it force closes.
This phone is pretty freshly setup. ie: I had a couple text messages on my phone from yesterday. I deleted those with no effect. When I sent a text message to myself (from google voice) and opened it up, I still get the FC on com.android.mms
I booted up into CWR and ran the Fix Permissions. That didn't do any good. I went back to CWR and cleared cache and Dalvik cache. That didn't do any good. Still getting FC. Any advice? I have a logcat of the crash when I try to open the message.
Here is the logcat: http://pastebin.com/YHwYs7ur
Any help in figuring out why my text messaging is crashing would be very helpful. I've been using a Fascinate since September. The only thing I did before this started happening was Titanium Backup was set to backup the green system applications and the user applications last night.
EDIT:
Sending a text message from the phone is causing a force close too. The message does send (I sent it to myself and it showed up a moment or two later after the fore close).
I think the mms database is screwed up but I'm not sure which database it is.
EDIT #2:
Well, I ran Titanium Backup again (just user apps+data, with the reboot option enabled). The system rebooted at the end of the backup and stuck at the SAMSUNG logo and will not boot up and not even into CWM with the three finger salute. Guess I'm doing the odin dance. Damn it. I had just gotten everything setup the way I wanted it. I will be leary of the Titanium Backup rebooting and see if that had anything to do with it. (Titanium Backup rebooted last night, the phone was off by the time I got to it this morning and it turned on fine except for the text messaging FC.)
I've odin'd the CWM (05-08-2011 version) and it still just sticks at the SAMSUNG screen....so ODIN back to ED03. Blech.
So am new to all this asop stuff but i followed BrwnSuperman's steps

to update from froyo comm romm 2.1 to JT's Vanilla Gingerbread and finally Miui 1.8.5. Now that im in Miui, everything works fine except my mms. I can only send outgoing messages but i get a force close every time am incoming message tries to come it (large or small). Is this a known issue or is there a fix for this? I reflashed it twice and even tried 1.7.29's mms.apk instead but to no avail. is there something i'm missing
Nevermind. I figured it out. I titanium restored my old txt data which has seemed to cause the problem, another fresh install with data wipe fixed it with the 1.8.12 update.
Coming from stock rom I have flashed GingerDX v13 Rom on my sisters mini pro, ive followed the procedures wipe cache/ system / data. When i restore the text messages and open the messaging app it hangs, becomes unresponsive, and eventually wants to force close. If i reboot the phone and reopen its will open the first time but the next time will not open, same cycle repeat rinse repeat. Go sms has same issue.
- the restore app i used is sms backup and restore (ive used this on my N1 without any issues).
- total amount of message +- 8100.
- flashed the room from scratch x2.
Anybody else seen this behavior before? the text backup was from stock rom, never had issues there, 2.2 i suppose unrooted.
Would like to exhaust all options and view other users opinions before moving to minicm7.
any input is greatly appreciated.
Hello,
I recently flashed JellyBam ROM and updated from 2.0 > 3.0 > 3.1 > 3.2. I've also tried both the Dorimanx and the Siyah kernels, ensuring that I wipe cache/dalvik before flashing each. Everything had gone swimmingly and the ROM was/is terrific. However, since the latest update it appears that my default messaging application will no longer notify me of new messages (SMS). This doesn't appear to be a problem for anyone else.
I've checked the settings within the application (Notifications box is ticked and a ringtone is selected), and I've also checked the system settings > device > sound > default notification which has a ringtone selected.
Additionally, I have a widget called "Missed it!" installed which changes whenever I get a new SMS, but there is no notification / sound from the phone to acknowledge this.
I've reflashed the ROM after doing a 'wipe cache' and 'wipe dalvik cache' but to no avail. I've also tried to wipe the cache for the app from within the 'manage apps' section.
Any suggestions? Your time is greatly appreciated!
Regards
No ideas?
Bump...
Still nothing? Could someone move the query into the JellyBam thread on the i9100 page then please?
I cannot post in there yet as I haven't made 10 posts.
Download a new messaging app like GoSms.
Thanks for the response.
I used to use GO SMS, but since flashing the new ROM i found the default messaging app and it's theme to be pretty good.
Today, i've tried to do a factory wipe and re-flash the ROM but I used Titanium backup to reinstall my apps and the problem persists.
Im now a fan of whatsapp.Send pics for nowt.....
I also use Whatsapp, but it's still annoying that I cannot get the default messaging app to push notifications.
I am sorry i cannot help you in any way as i dont have a galaxy s2. But you can ask the rom developer to look into your problem.
I've fixed the problem now. Wasn't able to work out what the quick-fix was, so I ended up doing a complete factory wipe and reinstalling apps with Titanium Backup. Managed to download a Samsung App's apk that had "S-memo" so I have managed to save the memo's I had stored previously.
