Adw settings, general behavior, system preferences. Then select persistent

A better way would be to do it at the kernel level.
Uncheck the option to lock home in memory in ADW, open up your favorite terminal emulator and input the following strings:
su
echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop
reboot

I'm rooted and running Launcher Pro. Can I use the same command as in post 3 or do I need to change anything for LPP?
It doesn't matter what launcher you use, works for all of them.

Coolio. I ran the terminal emulator command and rebooted and it worked

Does anyone know how to add 5 icons to the app drawer at the bottom of the screen on eclipse v0.6? That last version I used had an option in it and now I can't seem to find it. I want to use the deblurred version.
I understand its a tiny issue but I really prefer five icons.
Thanks for all the help
The Action Buttons?
I think they are under the ADW settings right?

Thats the thing. I have been all over the rom and can't find the ADW settings.
Huh, that sucks, maybe go to the market and reinstall it?
I went from .6 to .5 for the red ICB theme, I want to try out .7 though.

Is this serious?
1. At home screen hit the menu button
2. Select 'more'
3. Select 'ADWSettings'
4. At the menu select 'UI Settings'
5. Select 'Main Dock Sytle' and change to '5 Icons'

Personally, I use launcher pro + which has the option in a similar location to ADW.
Is there any way to remove the persistent Google search bar?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
you can either go to system settings>applications and disable google search, or go to the themes and applications section of the forum and pick up Trebuchet Launcher which has the option to remove the bar and even more good stuff
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
thanks for ur reply.... i tried to install trebuchet but it doesnt give me launcher settings when i hit the menu key on the home screen. any further assitance would be appreciated. thanks
in trebuchet settings you can uncheck "enable persistent searchbar"
first you have to make trebuchet your default launcher

I downloaded it and flashed it via CWM but dont have any launcher settings
How do i make it my default launcher?
go to settings>applications and under all applications you should see both launchers. Disable the stock launcher defaults. Then when you go to use your phone the system will prompt you to pick which launcher to use/ make default
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Thanks for all ur help and all. But when I go to all applications I don't see both launchers. I installed trebuchet thru CWM. It says it installed successfully. Any more help would be appreciated

Usually after i install launcher, when I press home button it ask for default launcher.
But try going to all applications again and clearing defaults for your current Launcher.
I am running UnNamed 2.2.1.
Is it possible to make the default touchwiz "web" icon launch Opera instead of the default browser? I ask because I dont feel like running another launcher, Im liking the stock look.
Thanks in advance.

App drawer > menu > Edit > switch
Drag your apps around to your dock (4 max) and your set.

Now I don't feel bad that it took be months to figure that out.
Apex Launcher seems to reload/redraw far too often whenever returning to the home screen. Can I make it persistnant or lock it into memory? (Preferably without using V6 supercharger)

Did you clear defult tw launcher?....I'm using adwex make aure its defult..and stop or freeze home launcher shouldn't have any issues after that..
Thanks for the response. Yes, default is cleared and TW Launcher is frozen. I'm only using Apex. I'll return to the home screen via the home button and my widgets take a few seconds to reload and the app drawer has to load as well. I was hoping there was a way to just keep it locked in memory.

You can always try a different launcher, I hear good things about nova, but I enjoy trebuchet. In my time, it has been the fastest launcher for me

If you are familiar with build prop tweaks this will lock it in...
ro.home_app_adj=1 -*Forces the launcher to stay in memory. This could slow down the front app, but allow for quicker app switching.
Research ....and see.....

I have had a bit of luck actually with using the bulletproof apps option in the V6 script. Once installed, run the bulletproof option and enter "anddoes" which is what apex is listed as then hit enter. It works on GB and on ICS but you have to go into to the data directory in script manager (assuming you have browse as root selected in config) and have the bulletproof script run on boot. So far (unless it's placebo lol) I have seen an improvement. I hope this helps other out!

That will or should work too....lol...did you get the new version of v6 supercharger? There is a newer one made on the 10th...just in case you weren't aware....seems to be working so far for me
I'm not quite sure if I have the most up-to-date version but I'm using update 9 RC 8.1. So far it does the trick but I'll see if there is a more current one. Thanks for the heads up!

Arrgggh! Someone please help, as this is driving me nuts. I have set ADW EX as my default using Homeswitcher, but every time I press the home button, the evil TW is back.
It must be simple, but I'm missing it. Any help appreciated
first you need root and 2nd you need some kind of root explorer. then navigate to system/app choose seclauncher2 and rename it to seclauncher2.apk.bak. but keep you other launcher active.
or i think you can go to settings/apps and try to deactivate it but not sure if thats gonna work, that does not work with all apps
Go to
Settings > apps
Search for touchwhiz
Select
Then clear defaults
Press home key
Chose add as default
And boom

I have used Android since Cupcake on the HTC Dream/G1. I have used non-stock launchers for 2+ years. Trust me, this was different.
Normally, I install the new launcher, press home and then get asked which to use and set by default using the tick box. That should be it, but TW kept coming back as default. Even using home switcher, which has never failed me.

now the next time u hit home button pop up will be there to chose your fav default launcher go . adw. tw whatever it is
and u chose tw
now when ever u will click on the adw launcher icon in ur drawer it will the icons and stuff to adw like
but when u again click home key
it will take u back to default launcher and that was tw as selected

That's odd, as I have a Galaxy Note too, and that behaviour doesn't happen, even on ICS. Only the S3 confused me :-D
I have no issues using apex launcher on the s3, same as it has been for every other android version, maybe its an issue with the specific launchers you are using.
