[Q] How to disable 3G on Stock 2.2?

The title says it all. I have stock 2.2 ROM and want to disable 3G connection to save battery life. I know there used to be an option on stock 2.1 to disable 3G (only use 2G) connection.
I need data connection for MMS so will need 2G.
I tried a few apps from the market that have 2G/3G enable/disable options. However they only take me to the settings page and don't actually do anything.
Any suggestions?
You could set it to GSM only in settings > Wireless and netwerk > Mobile Netwerks > Netwerk Mode

There a s/w name speedtest in play store.. you can check the speed.
Depending on the area.. normal Edge goes till 30KB/s and Hsdpa will give you speed more than 1Mbps.

Which options to choose?
I kind of have a follow up question. I rarely use mobile network for data and use only wi-fi. But at those rare time that I do I wanna use the 3G network and rest the time when I have got my data off I want the phone to use the 2G network for voice and sms services. So how do I go about it? Right now I have selected " Use 2G only" and " GSM only" in the wireless and network settings.

Whichever Rom you are using.. you will find the Toggle Option.
You can place it in notification power widget.. you switch 2g-3g-2g as per your need!!

I liked this toggle idea but it seems to have only "2G" or "2G/3G" option and not just "3G" option. That one comes only when I manually select "wcdma only" option in the settings. Any ideas on how to bring up just the "3G" option right in the toggle itself?
If you are using CM.. go to cm settings.. go to the option where you enabled toggle.. at the bottom you wil find the option of managing notification widgets. Im not using cm so cant get you the exact place but search a little.. you will find it there.
Edit: CM means cyanogenMod..

[Q] moto g not forcing to use ONLY WCDMA

hello. i have a moto g 16gb version. actually i want to use only 3g at my location. but my phone is set to preferred 3g mode which means that it uses 3g only when 3g signals are good. so there is no option of using only wcdma or 3g. also tried the phone testing app but no gain. plz solve this.
Settings>more>mobile networks>network mode and change it
(it's in ics menu, don't know about kitkat)

Try this.
In the dialer, press *#*#4636#*#*,
choose phone information,
change WCDMA only.
Turn the radio off and on again.
This may help.
Good luck.

H or H+ isn't 3g or 4g.
So that's not smart to change...
For changing LTE to 4G you have Xposed Framework...
Of course, you can edit and change icons in systemUI.. But, as I said....
H/H+ isn't 3g or 4g.

Yes but when i turn lte option on my phone the speed of the net its increasing for example on H it goes 2mb download when i turn it goes up to 38-40 mb download and it says h+
This is not a Q/A topic to ask questions !
Do you new ones ever learn it and read the RULES OF XDA ??
I guess NOT !!

I'm trying but it's quite unclear what the problem is...
Maybe to try to wipe all and flash ROM again.
It's certainly software bug...
It's almost impossible to find a problem...
It could be in mod, xposed module or in ROM...
Easiest way is to wipe all and flash again..
BTW, @neno16, which ROM are you using?
