Hi
Since there is yet again no notification LED on the SGS2 i was wondering if a Button Backlight Notification like for the original SGS is in the works.
thank you
NoLed already works
I think OP asked for a Button Backlight Notification, not a screen LED notification. If there were application which could allow to glow the touch sensitive buttons (Menu & Back) then it would be great.

NoLed has such an option. Besides, it's not important since the app has an option to shut the display off when the proximity sensor feels something close by (like when the phone is in a pocket or bag).

Oops! Didn't find that option, can you please tell me where it is? And also is there a way to turn the screen LED notification Off?
It's under 'Battery saving features', there's a check box for Dismiss with Proximity Sensor.

Thanks, but if I check that box only the screen goes off with a small red box moving on the screen but the Touch sensitive buttons are not glowing!

Yeah, I meant the second bit (about turning the display off in your pocket or whatever) and even then I think I meant the check box below, sorry - feeling a bit scrambled today.
I'm after something that will light up the touch buttons too

Hmm.......
I've looked that up but I can't find this feature. It looks like I've mixed things up with some forum posts, like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-730692-p-10.html
"The Menu and Back capacitive buttons also light up with screen notification. This has increased battery drain significantly."

Actually the option is "Proximity Sensor" just bellow "Dismiss with Proximity Sensor".

I like to read in bed and often my wife falls asleep before I do. I can dim the screen without any trouble, but any time a physical control is activated (trackball, volume rocker, etc) the lights in the lower portion of the phone where the controls are light up REALLY bright.
Is there a setting or app to shut it off?
Are you talking about the keys?

Hi,
Go to Settings > Sound and Display > Notification Flash.
You can disable the trackball flash for certain notifications or you can disable them all and have the trackball flash disabled completely.

But he means the keys' lights. Will this also turn that off?? I know the title of the thread is a bit misleading
Turning the trackball notification off seems to stop the screen and button lights from coming on.
I've just disable the trackball notification for text messages, set my phone in standby and sent myself a text from another phone. The notification sound played but nothing at all lit up on the phone.
Disabling the notifications don't seem to have an effect. Every time I touch the trackball or any other button, the light right up
I also find the backlight of the keys on HTC hero pretty annoying. I can't believe that it's impossible to disable that damn light. There are only 6 buttons and trackball, are they really think that we aren't capable to use them properly?
I don't see what the problem is.
And my trackball doesn't actually light up unless I get a notification of some sort.
Just pressing any button doesn't make it light up at all.
So what exactly is the problem?

I don't know about European Hero, but on the Sprint's one, any time you're pressing a key or the trackball, backlight lightens up. It's damn annoying, and I don't know how to get rid of it.
First of all, I'm not a vampire. I don't often use my phone in the dark. And besides, there is always enough of ambient light from the screen.
So. My questions to HTC guys.
- Why the damn, stupid light?
- How could we disable it?
- And where is our firmware update?
The light is extremly nice :-D I love it, when you are in some loud places and your phone is not in your pocket you can see it light up :-D
If you don´t want that, just downgrade to a 1.8 firmware; there is a bug that the trackball won´t light up, well the firmware is freaking slow though.
BTW: An option to disable the light would be cool (there could be some scenarios where it´s not good to light up).
BB.

So, I'd have assumed that this is the software issue not hardware.
Now I'm sure. So it could be disabled somehow.
But how?

Thats one of the things I like about the Sprint Hero. I wish my Telus Hero Trackball would light up every time it was touched. It is an easy way to light up the buttons in the dark.
I don't see the flashlight app from the quick menu in the list of apps I can add to the 2nd screen. Is there something I'm missing?

It's there when the 1st screen is off. Just swipe over to get to it.
Thanks.
Disable swipe shortcuts?
Is there a way to disable these swipe shortcuts on the second screen when the main screen is off? I keep mine in my pocket and the phone keeps turning on the flashlight, etc. while inside my pocket because it's triggering these shortcuts.
I like the second screen being on for notifications and such (especially because there is no notification light ) but like this morning I got to work at 92% battery because my phone was running the flashlight for my entire 10 minute commute.

The screen shouldn't be staying on in your pocket. It uses the proximity/light sensor to to shut it off when it's covered up.

"Shouldn't be" but it is. I also have pulled out my phone to be greeted with "You have incorrectly entered your knock code 5 times".
EDIT: I'm just now thinking this may be an issue with the tempered glass screen protector. After I get a case on it I will see if taking that off helps the prox sensor respond better.

I've turned the flashlight on plenty of times by mistake. When I grab the phone by the top with a couple of fingers and put it in the arm rest in the car, I'll notice that I have inadvertently turned the flashlight on.

Yeah... that's why I just wish I could turn those shortcuts off altogether since I really don't need them and I activate them by mistake way more than I do on purpose. I like second screen, but don't like that it can activate functions/change volume while the phone is locked and there's no way to prevent that besides totally disabling it while the screen is off...

what do you mean by "very dim"?! too much brightness or too less?
i see mine get like "auto brightness" like see the screen set itself more brightness and less when in direct sunlight with auto mode disabled...
thats what i know so far...your problem will be like the same i think?!
Too dark, it doesn't change to brighter as it did before

but in your brightness slider you can go to 100% brightness or you only can go to 90?%?
If you can go to 100 and anyway is too dark aybe you need to replace your screen because is faulty.

ah ok, fine...only now i see what your problem, i think is the screen itself and not the second screen, if the second screen is too dim is because the sensor on the side of the top speaker can be dirty on it and it doesnt detect the light trough it...
if this happen again to see if they are some dirt on it simple with your phone locked put it under direct light above that sensor and if the second screen gets brighter then is ok, if not clean the sensor.

You are right, it happens all the time, when I move the phone away in a call, the screen doesnt light-up, I had to press the power button, until I found that whiping that sensor lights it most of the time, must have very little sensitivity

for sure its the sensor...my second screen have a delay maybe 4/5 seconds when put in sunlight to be more bright and its clean! but this second screen in V10 arent too bright like in V20.
Also my call screen doesnt show up too when i need to end a call, i need to click on power button to wake the screen but i get used to it now.
Listing some bugs and improvements
Bugs:
1. Screenshot does not cover entire screen area
2. No smooth transition for notifications
3. Auto brightness calibration is unstable
.
.
Improvements:
1. Enable hide notch option
2. Battery percentage in status bar
.
.
headsup notification lost animation compared to third party roms like RR,AICP,OMNI.
and the statusbar icons are too crowded
Swiping down the notification bar once doesn't have a smooth animation it really bugs me!

I would rather say it is more advantage than shortcoming.
Battery percentage would be very pleasant. It's pretty much my only gripe about the phone so far.
when power button is pressed to lock the screen it first flashes red then turns off
similarly when brightness is reduced too quickly, screen has red tint and then brightness gets lowered
That must be your device. Mine has no such issues.

It's supposed to be a turn off effect/animation, the screen goes off with that 3D-movie effect. It's not a bug.

If its supposed to be a feature, then why does it only shows red tint where the screen is white?
My uncle also has the same phone, i didn't notice this happening to his phone. Does it happen to you too?

Can you share a screenshot? We might be talking about totally different things.. And about the effect I'm talking about, i can't like intentionally notice it if i look at screen going off very carefully but only notice it sometimes (like an offguard thing), it barely lasts 0.1 second before screen goes off!

I think we're talking about the same thing if you say it lasts only a split second before screen going black, So i cant post a screenshot.
And the red flash only comes where the screen is on White UI, like when im in settings or google app. Where ever the the lcd is white, it flashes red just a fraction of a second before going off.

just noticed another bug.
the option to switch off ambient display is greyed off for me, everytime the phone is on table its always on the ambient display without any movement.
I lock the phone and it comes to ambient display within 2 seconds.
Has anybody had any issues connecting Bluetooth devices? I have an Anker Soundbuds Slim+ BT headset - and the X6 just doesn't see them. I can pair them with my Fitbit Ionic in 3 seconds, but when I try to pair them with the phone, they're simply not detected?! I have connected different headsets without issue. These buds work on BT 4.1, so they should work with this phone, right?!
D'oh. Just noticed that it had previously paired - so was hiding in "previously connected devices". Never mind...

Hello,
I'm experiencing a weird problem with my LG V30 H930 and I was wondering what could be the solution, if anyone has ever experienced that as well?
Yesterday I received a new LG V30 phone and that day I found something very disturbing. The "always on display" function does not work when it's too dark in the environment or when I cover the light sensor. This also results in:
- "double tap to wake" function does not work when it is too dark
- holding finger against the screen results in turning off display instead of entering options for changing wallpaper, adding widgets and settings. Additionally when I turn off the screen in this way, I need to press the button on the back of the phone twice, which is also a fingerprint reader and at the right time. If I do it too slowly, i.e. press the button once, wait a bit and then the second time, the screen will not turn on. I have to press it twice and relatively quickly
All of this does not happen when it is bright in the environment.
The phone's never been rooted, there is no custom firmware loaded on it, I've tried many times going back to factory settings.

Why are you covering the light sensor if you want the AOD on?
You are basically replicating a flip case cover or flipping a phone over on the desk. Of course the AOD will turn off under those circumstances. There's nothing wrong with your phone.
With your display on, just quickly press your finger on the fingerprint sensor to display lock the phone and you will see AOD. Well you also have need the "power key instantly locks" option turned on. But I assume you have that on already.
Of course the AOD works in a dark environment. But in this instance, you are covering the light sensor -- which tells the phone you must have it in a flip cover case or flipped over. When you open the case or flip the phone back on, the AOD comes back on. In your fake way, you must be doing something wrong.
Stop covering the light sensor.

I understand your logic, but it is a very weird feature then, not to be able to change wallpaper directly from the home screen, when it is dark in the room or not to be able to turn on the phone double-tapping the screen, which is turned off. Is it perfectly normal as well?
