Hi Guys,
I'm having a serious issue after trying to do an OTA update that Verizon pushed to my Samsung Fascinate a couple days ago. My phone is rooted, and I have backed up some bloatware to my SD card.
So, before trying to do the OTA update, I reinstalled the bloatware. The OTA update keeps failing, so I tried the Factory data reset. After the factory reset, I keep getting the following error every time I try opening an app on my phone:
The application TWLauncher (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way to revert back to ED03 stock?
Here is a little more info on my phone:
Firmware version: 2.2.1
Baseband version: S:i500.04 V.ED03
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: SCH-I500.ED03
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Just go Here. I wrote a walk through for odin and heimdall, it includes links to get everything and a few threads for getting ED03 rom odin file from imnuts and how to go from dl09 odin modem to ed03 modem with zips and instructuins from naverbob. So after your done with this you have official ed03 fully binged and bloated without those rediculoius ota's that like to fail.
Dale v is correct...his post is actually one of the most detailed posts on how to use odin, heimdall, and flashing in general...when his O.P. says it will recover just about any "bricked" fascinate....it will...assuming you follow the directions correctly you'll be fine especially since you already have the ed03 radio you wont have to go through all the reverting ota'ing just to get the radio.

Thanks for all your help! I used the instructions DaleV provided and flashed back to ED03 using Odin. Worked flawlessly! I was then able to update OTA to ED04 and everything is working perfectly now.
I appreciate all your help guys!

What file did you odin? The di01 all in one package by adrynalyne always works for me, and you can pick up the ota after.
Sent from a Superclean Fascinate
You need to flash the eclair modem, it's in the forums somewhere I just can't remember where. It will flash thru odin
*edit* as said above...use the di01 all in one...it will flash the modem as well
Ah Please Help!! Went ComRom 2.1 to DL09 stock but OTA says "no updates available"
I was messing around with different roms which had been working previously.. And this time when I tried to go back to stock using my Dl09 odin file, which worked, OTA updates take forever to check for new ones, and now say that there are "no updates available." I really want to OTA to ED04 before I do anything else but I appear to be stuck on Dl09. I'd Odin'd back to stock several times before this and was always able to get the OTA updates... Does anybody have any idea why I wouldnt be able to get them now?
according to my phone info...
Hardware version i500.04
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version S:i500.04 V.DL09
Kernel version: 2.6.29
Build: SCH-I500.DL09
Note: the most recent rom I was at before I reverted to stock was ComRom UKB 2.1, with the standalone PB&J -100 UV'd kernal from IMNUTS.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!
A lot of people are having trouble with OTA updates... however, dl09 seems to be the one that works the best. Another user said that they were having problems with the update server this morning, but just waited a couple hours and it came back online.
It may also be that Verizon pulled the D04 update temporarily as not to break any more phones. If so, you're out of luck until they put it back online.
Search in the xda development there are EA28 and ED01 zip files you can flash. Just make sure they are named update.zip and flash from stock recovery. Also you can flash DL09 to ED04 radio.
Keep me Fascinated.
I'm trying to go back to 2.2 from cm7 and I'm having some issues with odin. First off, I can't get gapps to install. I've tried all of the following:
gapps_update-2.3.5-gb-20110725-signed
gapps-gb-20110613-signed(1)
Also, wi-fi is not working with cm7.
Now for the odin issues...
I have tried flashing DL09, EB01, ED01 and ED05 with odin versions 1.3, 1.7, and 1.83. None have worked. I'm getting an error message when I connect with the USB. Is it possible that the cord is bad? Could it be that simple?
I'm completely frustrated here. I have no market, gmail, or anything else, and can't revert to an earlier build. I'm hoping someone here has the experience and/or know how to help me out.

Instructions are under stickies in the development section for proper Odin from cm7or miui
There have been reports that only stock cords work for connection to PCs in some cases. Try the instruction under stickies before you give up on your cord.

I did follow those instructions. The problem is that odin isn't flashing properly...thanks tho
Have you tried to reinstall the drivers directly from the Samsung website and use the stock MD5 for Verizon?
I dont own a Fascinate but a friend of mine just tried to OTA update to EH03 on his. Without actually looking at the phone it appears that it did some damage, he said it will not get past the Samsung bootscreen and when he tried to get into the bootloader it says a cache file is missing.
My Question: Not being familiar with the Samsung phones, is there any way I can force a reinstall of the EH03 update without rooting/installing a custom recovery? If so is it similar to my HTC where I just need the file on the root folder of my SD card and go into the recovery?
Thanks in advance!
I had the same or very similar issue yesterday updating my rooted 2.2.2 to the Verizon OTA 2.3.5. Hung at the Samsung screen / nonresponsive system recovery.
The unmodified Verizon EH03 rom is here:
http://www.multiupload.com/4LC6JFCSFD
and I followed the Odin instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026746
I'm having problems rooting it now, but that's another issue...
Is it really????

Is the stock rom really that bloated??? 449MB???
Can I put that EH03 rom on my SD and load it to the phone using manual mode system recovery as an update.zip or do I have to use Odin?
Thanks.
This is Full Verizon Bloat and yes you will need to use Odin for this one.
Look up my guide in the general section...the link posted above is outdated.

Imo there is superclean milestone 2 that is basically stock and already rooted, its my current rom, much easier than rooting a pure stock rom. Like droidstyle said, find his guide and flash this one. Odin cw2.5 first obviously. Find my guide on kernels for a custom kernel. I explained them as much as I could.

Nitro suggested I update to 2.3.5 before I go about installing the Eclipse 2.0 update this evening. Well whenever I try and flash a zip from SD card, it aborts and gives an error. It happens with the Update, and installing ROMS. I fear that I won't be able to update to 2.0 this evening because of this error. Any ideas to fix it?
Try and sbf and get a clean start. If you heave not done that then do that first. Which update did you use? .412 or. 413
Which recovery are you flashing the update from? I flash it from my external. See if that makes a difference. And as said you have to be bone stock 2.3.4 for the update to work

Updated with android recovery. The last time I tried to flash molten it aborted but I did not care since I already had backup of eclipse 1.3 I just updated to 2.3.5 with android recovery and restored root with rootkeeper app.
The best I have done is sbf the leak then flash the 213 ota from folder "1 235" in my fake mp3 http://www.mediafire.com/file/4loqisamcd4y8ya/1_to_4_235isAzip.mp3 just change it to .zip.
Ah this sucks. I flashed eclipse 2.0 and it aborted line 294 permission error crap again. So I sbf back to 2.3.4 and re rooted. Re did the update and then tried again. Same error. Man I dont understand it will flash everything else except on the roms. When I went to 2.3.5 I flashed the drop down toggles and battery fix. This only happens when I flash roms. I have work tomorrow so i guess I will sbf one more time and re root so I can get back to my back up of eclipse 1.3 and mess with this again on my next day off on Sunday. Maybe I will try to go back to 2.3.3 and do OTA updates? I am at a lost and have not heard of any fixes for this out there yet!!!
Still having the same problem here, too. I just sbf'ed to 2.2.2 instead of 2.3.4 and took all OTA's. Did a NAND on 2.3.4. Getting ready to update to 2.3.5 via stock recovery.
Well that was a fail, too. Currently on stock 2.3.5 rooted. Guess I'm not sure what to do now. I still have my nand of Eclipse 1.3 but would have to sbf back to 2.3.4 again and go through it all just to restore it. This sucks!
Just got 2.0.1 Eclipse running this morning no issues.

What did you do it get it to work? Did it fail last night for you also or was this your first time trying?
Well I SBF'd and factory reset from stock recovery. Then I updated to 2.3.5 from stock recovery. Then I rooted with ZergRush, and then I flashed 2.0.1 Eclipse with x2 Bootstrap.
There have been issues with Root Keeper. So if any of you are using that, dont. Follow these instructions and use these files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391824
I finally got it working, too. Root keeper is the issue. Now on 2.0.1. Will be on 2.0.2 later tonight!

Agreed. 2.0.2 will be on mine too. I vote, though, that these minor updates chill xD
