when we update PC companion in our pc, it asks for our region right? if we give our region as thailand, is it possible to update our phone to the generic 2.3.3 gingerbread as it is released in Thai?
nope, someone else tried that already, there wasent an update to gingerbread even if u change your settings to thailand or china.
The most silly idea I've ever read on xda. Seriously, the update isn't released yet, and in fact there's no solid proofs that can prove the update at Thai was real, maybe its an unofficial update just for the expo, but it maybe fake too.
Just wait, when SE said its released then its released.

PC Companion reads your phone's CDA number to determine which firmware update you get. Changing the region on PC Companion won't do anything.
However, if you are rooted you can edit your CDA number in the build.prop file to change brands or regions. Reboot, then run repair software via SEUS or PC Companion with the edited CDA number. Just make sure you delete the contents inside the folder " db " found inside the folder where you saved SEUS or PC Companion on your computer.
Fyi, CDA 1234 - 4820 to change your phone to global generic X10a in preparation for the 2.3.3 Gingerbread update.

don't get too exited now... wait for the update

Maybe, no one besides some guys from SE, no anything so far.
Nothing is real, nothing is true, everything is just gossips, jokes or "guessed" information.
There is nothing saying when the updates are going to be released, to say poeple that it is coming in the next few months to me may mean 2 month and up to 10 months, who knows.
Just keep testing your custom rom.
what is all the fusss here
CM7 by J is very smooth and powerful with custome kernel and can be used daily.
Iris by Trip is Very Smooth and sweet with stock kernel and can be used daily.
Only problem they both have is proper camera and navigations issues.
If one cant live without gps or camera.
There are so many best and perfect 2.2 roms such as TripMiui Iris 1.6.5

all features working, no reboots no lags. Pure performance

Well if he's on a X10i device and inserts a CDA for X10a, the device wont be recognized by SEUS or PCC.
So remember to only use CDA's that correspond to your device.
I can not live with my X10i without gps or camera and HD video.
Will goes back to stock ROM for gps & camera, giving up App2sd, adobe flash and multi touch.

Yes, if you have X10i, then use the X10i global generic CDA. I just didn't know it to post it. However, it doesn't matter for SEUS or PC Companion. The difference would be in the baseband.

Yes it does matter to SEUS and PCC what CDA you use.
As I said they wont recognize your device and allow you to flash if you put a X10a CDA into a X10i or a SO-01b CDA into a X10a. The CDA must be for your device, be it X10a, X10i or SO-01b.

No. Both J and Trip's ROMs, although great, are not complete. Huge battery drain, not so smooth at times, no full camera and videocamera.
2.2 ROMs have Video camera lag, HUGE battery issues with custom kernels, and are good but...it's definitely not perfect.
SE's 2.3.3 would fix all that, not to mention might add new features like tethering and 16M colors.
Wow, cant believe theres no meantion of enoloks 2.2 xshinybread rom. Ive been using it for 3 days now with 350 kernel. The camcorder is super smooth and loud audio, no lag, I have 2 x10s and compared to optimized 2.1 with camera mods. On top of that one, everything works perfect for me and after a few cycles Ive got 12hrs as of now and at 48% battery moderate use with bluetooth all day. I quadrant 1380 and linpack 36+, 1420 and 38 with 347 kernel but not completely stable. Ive tried trips billions of updates, and wolfs is nice but I had some issues with battery, among other things, this is the best Ive tried. That said, official gingerbread is what Im waiting for and no disrespect to the devs meantioned, I know its somewhat of a collabaration so they all deserve respect, thats why I chimed in.

According to unknown13x, you won't be able to get the official 2.3.3 Gingerbread update directly from PC Companion or SEUS on modified (rooted) firmware. You'll have to run repair software via SEUS or PC Companion prior to updating or use the Flash Tool to reflash generic 2.1.A.0.435 firmware.

I'm currently running 2.1 Nordic on X10 mini pro. When my country's (SG) version 2.1 is out, is it possible to just change the build.prop in current Nordic version to SG and re-flash via SEUS?
Is there any other thing i should be aware of before i try that?
Thanx in advance.
I tried for the purpose of test to flash Russian 2.1 over Nordic 2.1. It didn´t work.

****, because that's what i wanted to do when the german 2.1 is out. so, if that isn't possible, what do we do then?
edit: i read so much stuff on here the last days, what i'm going to try is de/reinstall SEUS after that, at least move or rename the /db/ folder.
You can flash back to 1.6, root, change build.prop and update again via seus.

I stand corrected. you can´t downgrade to 1.6, but can switch to another version of 2.1 via editing build.prop
It is a good idea to reinstall seus, and delete all directories of Sony Ericssson before making any drastic changes.

vlissine, can u list down which country version u're able to change to? Cuz i tried a few SG version but was unsuccessful.
Yeh u can just delete the settings db and temp folders instead of reinstalling seus I think. Something like that anyway, don't remember the exact folders

For 1.6, all we need to do was change the country/product in build.prop and just update via seus. So i'm assuming the same applies to 2.1 as well, unless I'm wrong.
PS: U can't downgrade to 1.6 via SEUS but u can flash to 1.6 via flashtool.
Apparently when you tell PC Companion to Repair, it will obey whatever is in build.prop regardless of the current firmware, thus allowing you to shuttle between different 2.1 firmwares.
Allegedly, anyway. I haven't test this myself.
i just put báck the original build.prop and my phone went into infinite boot loop ????????????/ so weird. any body can help me...
try to reinstall using seus. if not reload everything using flashtool.
Hi everyone,
I'm in canada and own an x10 with rogers.
Last week, I loaded the global fw on it and rooted it. So far everything works great.
Reading up on other posts, it seems like some ppl who updated prematurely regardless of their regions are planning and coming up with ways to update according to their regions once the official updates roll out.
The question I have is, why? My x10 works fine although it's not x10a anymore. So is it necessary to switch?
Hi man, I just finished to re-flash my X10a with the new Brazilian FW (X10a 2.1) i choose to match Phone Version(X10a) with FW Version(X10a)....reflash is so easy why not?
Btw with GlobalFW my bluetooth dosent work with the laptop (1.6 do) but now with the correct FW works great again (placebo effect? idont kown)

I just checked through PC Companion and it's still telling me that my phone has the latest software. I checked OTA as well with the same result. I'm going to check using SEUS and see if what that tells me.
Where in Canada are you? I'm in Edmonton and nothing yet for me.
Ya same here nothing im in ottawa
Just checked using SEUS and still nothing.
I saw on the Android forum that a couple people in Ottawa got the notification but it doesn't seem to be consistent as other people in the thread said that they weren't getting despite them being from Ottawa as well.
I'm curious if anyone has found a way for those of us with an x10a running x10i firmware to easily trick SEUS into updating for the x10a. I'm currently running the Nordic 2.1 and would love witch to Rogers 2.1 once it's released....anyone have any ideas?
I do recall something about the updates being "staggered" to minimize the load on the servers.

there are several posts on how to " trick " it into taking the update so just wait a bit, someone will post the firmware with the flash tool, same one you used for nordic and you will be all set.
All of the posts I've read indicate we shouldn't mix x10i and x10a codes as SEUS would either not work or ignore the phone. Unless I missed something?

If I understand the posts correctly they are much like the Nokia product or region codes.. with said codes it will tell the server where you are located. So its like a address of sorts.. the server checks the phones and says Oh Hello! You are in Canada here ya go.. or Hallo! Sie sind in Deutschland .. as I said someone will surely post a how to guide. if you mix the codes you will have a phone with firmware from another country well that is my take on it.

Then do us a favor and update the FW from your PC companion/SEUS folder.
somebody will decrypt it.
I just talked to a Rogers technical support representative and was told that the update has been released, but Sony, as usual, did not prepare for the immense traffic and the link to the download is up and down. I was told that we should be able to update later today, but that the only way to check for the update is through PC Companion - it will NOT appear as an OTA notification on the phone.
Hope this helps!

I'm with Tux. I'll wait for some other helpful Rogers user to post the firmware, and then I'll look into flashing to that.
Haven't had any problems with my X10a running Nordic firmware (other than taking longer to get started with market downloads), so I'm not in a huge rush. It would be nice to have proper X10a firmware though.

Well one of us is misunderstanding at this point. I'm not home at the moment and don't have time to link, but the thread in here somewhere states very clearly not to use an x10a CDA if you have an x10i phone as SEUS will not detect the phone. I guess I'll just wait I guess.

For 2.1fw Binary (or was Jerpelea) wrote that is ok to use it as SE probably unified the basebands.

Using the CDA trick works. I have the global X10i firmware on my X10a and changed it's CDA to the generic Brazil one and it gave me the option to repair to the X10a 2.1 generic brazil firmware. I am assuming that the same can be done with the Rogers CDA once it fully goes live.
I didn't do it as I am happy with the global one....no issues.
Just to clarify, I actually work for a particular company that is involved in this, and we were notified that the update was to begin rolling out today.
Cheers, Brett
Hi All,
I've recently purchased an X10 and while its quite a nice phone, I'm sure it would be a hell of a lot nicer if it was running 2.1 - some things which are "missing" in 1.6 have started to annoy me haha.
To this end, it would appear Telstra are about the slowest telco on the planet to release an update. My current firmware is as follows:
X10a
Country: Australia, Brand: Telstra
Phone Software Version: 1227-4612_R2BA023 GENERIC
I understand that if I follow a tutorial such as the "Debrand your Xperia X10 [Tutorial]" on xperiax10.net (google finds it, I'm not allowed to link yet sorry!) and debrand it, SEUS will then automatically update my phone to 2.1 next time I try to update.
Can anyone tell me what is a good X10a firmware for use in Australia? Note that it needs to be X10a since I use an 850MHz "nextg" network. The list on the link above appears to give me a rather limited set of choices, none of which sound generic or australian (what makes latin america latin america??).
If anyone could give me some hints that would be most apprecitated!
Thanks,
Tom

Which no doubt stems from xda, so you might as well use the original guides from here.

And give this a read too - Step By Step Flashing 1.6 - 2.1

Hi,
Thanks for the advice! I followed the tutorial and updated to 504, then flashed again to .24, however on both of these my bluetooth does not work :-/ Windows 7 shows nothing in the services menu and the phone seems to pair with devices but never connect. Also the .24 ROM available appears to have been a X10i ROM, this doesn't seem to have mattered though as 850MHz HSDPA still seems to work.
Any thoughts on fixing bluetooth?
I haven't installed the rooted version btw and I'm not quite sure what xrecovery does? Thanks!!
Fixed BT - turns out it didn't like to talk to my MacBookPro on Windows - updating Boot Camp drivers to 3.2 fixed that.
As for xrecovery, what does it do? And how does one root 0.24?
Thanks for the help!

Done to death this one - this is Germany only and for info, PCC does NOT mean updates are available or that anything on there is for all regions or carriers.
If your phone has an issue that needs resolving, why not ask in the appropriate section? For a start, you could update to .62 (recommended) via Wotan (recommended).

Make update via PCC, it works fine, noticable faster than .42 (not in benchamrks, but just in use) and less memory usage without blootware freezing! I lost root and all programs moved to ROM, but it worth!

Faster? Same ROM/kernel with minor App mods/deletes only. And a radio rename.
From Xperiablog:
The last update (version 4.0.2.A.0.62) mainly brought changes to improve memory management to counter reboot issues. It seems that this latest 4.0.2.A.0.69 firmware update is only for the German market and surrounds a legal issue of using the ‘Gmail’ name over ‘Google Mail’. Therefore we wouldn’t rush to try and flash to this latest version.

and again this was based on our usage, i have had .69 on my phone plus this got a new baseband, which is 66
Baseband = radio, FYI
Changing GMail.apk results in a performance improvement. Neat.
yeah, why the baseband has been changed ?
baseband mean wifi, gsm, hspa, bluetooth, gps etc
so there is some improvements
if would have been only a legal problem wit gmail in germany, why a new baseband?
Baseband may be simple update, or more likely, a simple ident change with no code amendments at all. I bet you anything there is NO Difference whatsoever.

I´ve .69 and yes there are some improvments in phone. Just not sure but i think battery drain is a bit faster then .62.
I´m building a rom with this baseband and it´s fastest I saw.
What's faster?
Responses to this are way too vague/placebo/subjective/lacking cred.
Baseband affects "speed" of what exactly? A miracle awaits...
Yesterday I root .69 (unlock BL by testpin), block some blootware and yes, now it is more faster than .42!
I not see FW .62, is in that FW google+, in this FW it present.
Unfortunately Apps2rom not work, it run, but not moove apps to rom!
