Hey guys I recently got a 32 inch flat screen which has an HDMI so I wanted to see photos and videos on my phone on there but I don't believe much has happened with TV out has it

If you have a ps3 hooked up to said tv and its (the ps3) on your home network you can download imediashare from the market and it will allow you to use your ps3's media server to display any photos and some movies that are on your phone wirelessly through your network. I believe an app named allshare will also work, this may also work if you have an xbox instead...I'm not positive b/c I dont own one but I believe they have media servers on them also, or if your tv has internet access and us hooked up to your local network, in that case it will work as well. But for me when I want to see pics on the big screen...i turn on tv, turn on ps3 click a few buttons and viola! Pics on the tv! I know its not the same as the tv out mod but either way if you have all those components whats the worst that happens...you download an app...dont like it and delete...no harm, no foul! Hope this helps!

Not a ps3 my TV has a USB spot and when I try to display what's on my phone it wont show

I believe what you are looking for requires taking a couple different cables and modifying them to work...a far as I know the original usb cable that come with your phone does not have the pin out required to transmit video directly via usb. I remember reading something about the tv out mod a while back but I dont remember if they had any luck with it working...search the forum...i believe it was titled "tv out mod" our something like that but its not going to be as simple as plugging in your usb cable into the tv and having it pop up on the screen...i wish I had more info for ya but hopefully someone will chime in with some relevant info for ya.

It sounds like you're trying to get your TV to read your phone as a mass storage device. Kinda like a flash drive, but I don't know if your TV could detect the phone like that. Try plugging in the USB cable between the phone and TV, then turning on the 'mass storage' mode on your phone.

I did attempt that and it wont read it

This isn't basic cable!
Where in the heck do you live that any kind of cable is free? I've never lived anywhere where any cable service is free.
I do know of one way, but you need aTV tuner card connected to your pc. Then you can use orb to stream recklessly to your phone. IMHO the better wow factor comes from the movies. You can easily convert your dvds and video files with handbrake. That's where it's at!

If you have games, especially cool gameloft ones.
You know how hard and frustrating it is to play with the fingers on your screen.
The only phone that lets you enjoy the game fully is the Xperia Play.
Is there and app where you can connect the PS3 controller via USB or Bluetooth wireless (how it connects to PS3) to play games?
Not like WiiMote that remote is confusing ......
It would be awesome if it was really especially if your phone has TV out support.
Well is there an app like this?
You couldn't use a ps3 controller with phones, because PS3 contollers are linked with their PS3's or PC via Mac Address, so unless there is a full-size usb-to-mini usb (or whatever the phone usb port is called) and someone develops drivers for the phone, you can't use a PS3 controller at all.
On a tablet running 3.1+ could use it wirelessly and wired but only them.

May not be big new to those who have owned a DLNA enabled phone before, but coming from HTC phones over the past few years, I wanted to share with Photon users/XBox owners. The Photon can act as a server for your music, videos and pictures...streaming them to your XBox. Anyone already doing this?
Not yet but I will be. Thanks for sharing that. ;-)

You can also do it from the gallery. Open the gallery app, tap the menu button, settings, tap media share settings, check media share and also check Support XBox. You will want to be connected to wifi. Your XBox doesn't have to be on wifi, but at the very least it needs to be connected to the same access point via Ethernet.
Yeah DLNA is pretty sweet. It will also work on your ps3. Just don't try and stream any HD videos or it will lag like a mug.

There is an app called imedia share that wotked decent on my evo and nexus s to my tv (samsung tv with allshare but no apps other than media play for usb and dlna support) which also allows you to stream youtube and facebook content.
Only reason to run it that way is plasma tv + ps3 does fair good with the electric bill people.

Team viewer worked great on my nook color for controlling my PC from anywhere. Just had to set it up on both the PC and nook. Easy and free in the market.
Never tried it on the tab though.

It gave me total control of my PC.... Showed my screen almost like remote desktop. Freaked the kids out when I took control of the mouse from anywhere. lol
Edit: Just noticed you wanted to stream some TV shows. Don't know if that would be clunky or not.

Not sure if it would depend on the connection speed or more the capabilities of the app itself. I shall give it a try tonight. Much appreciated mate and looking forward to freaking out the wife haha

The only problem is using Teamviewer you would need to set a prefixed password and username on it as it generates random per session so would be best. Also it needs to be on, closing teamviewer on your PC means you cut off the communication. Also it doesn't require a high end internet as teamviewer by default drops the quality and turns off wallpaper's and such per connection to enhance speed to navigate vs graphics.

That's fine my PC is on 24/7 anyway so that wouldn't be a problem.. if it sacrifices graphics for speed do you think maybe its not gonna be suitable for what I need it for?

Think you can set a password to use all the time in options, but it's been awhile since using. So could be wrong, but never remember having a random password. But yes I do remember having to have the PC on, but believe I could still wake it.
Again, I've not used my nook color for some time with this. So give an old man a break if I'm wrong.

Server runs on Linux, Mac or PC. I have a Linux server running so I can't tell you how good the Windows port is.
I have never used it for an outward facing connection though it is designed to work that way. I have it running on my old Dinc, Kindle Fire and the G-Tab. Video streaming works very well.

In my opinon it is all about the bandwidth. Some (HD) Movies need up to several megabit per second...
A solution is to use a VPN connection to the home network and a UPnP-AV server/client.
I use Twonky and BubbleUPnP, but only in my LAN. With a VPN and sufficient bandwith on the connection this would do the job over the internet, too.

With a little planning you could upload the video files that you want to be able to access to Dropbox, Minus or whatever Google offers that is similar. Then all you would have to do is access the files from your tab. If you have enough bandwidth for video, it should work great.
Check it out and let us know if my idea works for your needs.

Never thought about cloud.. like u say though forward planning would be needed and I'd have to upload everything that I'd want to watch each time before I go anywhere. Nice idea though

I have had cerberus installed on my PC for a long time, it allows you to use your PC as an FTP server.
This way you can have access to your chosen files anywhere with the internet. On your mobile most file explorers have a FTP option to move files to or from the PC.
Its handy to have access to all your music, or maybe use it the other way to backup your photos ect when away from home for a extended period.
you could also stream over FTP if your file explorer allows you to map the FTP server as a local drive

So I am still interested in people's opinion on this topic. I am thinking about getting a Media Link HD but I feel like I would be stupid to buy one. It seems to me like I have a phone with DLNA and a PS3 & LG BD390 that both have DLNA so why do I need another box?
Can anyone give me an idea how we could make the PS3 work like the Media Link HD? Thanks!
Does anyone know of an app that lets you stream from a DLNA device and program such as PS3 Media Server?
-^ i would like to know too. when i turn on my media share, the ps3 recognizes it, but when i open the folders there is nothing there.

When you're on it try hitting triangle and I think it might say display all or something like that.

I have a netgear router that comes with an app called netgear genie streams everything perfect the only thing it does not do is mirror the phone. A neat feature but not worth $75 to me to buy Media Link HD.
