I currently have both vplayer alpha and moboplayer installed, moboplyer seem more stable never forceclosed but everytime i exit vplayer it FCs. Only problem I have with Moboplayer is that it does not save current play time on exit so you have to start agaon from the start.... otherwise its excellent.
I never installed vPlayer, as it was always crashy on my Evo. I have been pleasantly surprised by MoboPlayer on my Flyer though. Works very well, and the UI is actually pretty nice. It has saved my point in time on close though, So I haven't seen that problem.

Ummm. The gallery plays standard avi for me. As long as it doesn't use AC3 audio...
Rock player supports most of the files, so its quite reliable no crashes yet
Finally i'm using successfully vPlayer.
try to set it in high quality video mode and set the maximum buffer size.
It works perfect for me.
I don't know if the Flyer has an hardware to decode, so I choose software decoding mode, but it has no lags.
I hope to get in a future a way to set it directly to a specific folder and to get the view of the film's covers.
Did anyone find a way to put an Mkv full hd inside ?
I use QQPlayer for mkv never had a problem never FC (fingers crossed touch wood and all that).
I just wish their connectedMedia app would stream mkv files from my ReadyNAS, avi and the others are no problem.
Has anybody tried Act 1 Player with the Flyer yet? I bought it to use on my Evo last year and I liked it.
i use vital player, plays avi very well
Please someone recommend me a video player which has d function to lock d screen while playing a video; just like
The default player in Samsung galaxy s. Thank u.

Real Player beta plays any video format on the flyer. Nice interface and also free!
Shokouhi

MX player works very well and its free. The I has replaced moboplayer and vplayer for me. Moboplayer had issues sizing optimized videos on my nook color but I have to issues with MX player.
Real Player doesnt work with avi files.
Sent from my HTC EVO View. 7" of s-off 4g Fury.
I seem to remember a player called something like arcmedia or something to that effect worked for avi. I personally use soul movie. Works very well, and is a very minimal app.

Dice player has HARDWARE based playback and supports FLV and MKV formats among others.
It's $5, but plays back some downloaded 1.5GB 720p MKV files I tried out flawlessly. Even subtitles. So now I have all of season one of a show I like ready for my next flight, without the bother of re-encoding it to suit the View's native player.

How do you get to your movies using the stock application? I've got my movies installed on the SD Card in a folder called movies. To watch them now I navigate to them with Astro and open them from there.
I think I should mention Vital Player if you want to play any kind of video format and take a screenshot from it. FYI, you cannot use magic pen to take screenshot from any kind of video player other than Vital Player.

I'm looking for one that can play MKV/AVI/MP4.
Any suggestions?
try vital player, rock player and mobo player. they all work differently with different formats of videos.
I've tryed many programs and the best for me is mobo player. the qqplayer is very good but isn't subtitle support.
the ui of mobo player is very slow and cumbersome to operate.
I agree but mobo player is good.

For me mobo player is very fast. I use cm7 overclocked at 730 mhz.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
QQ player plays all those and plays them smoothly make sure you have a SD increase app for the AVI files or they will run slow
Thanks for the replies guys
The only one that seems to play MKV's I use is moboplayer but it's slow, even at 802Mhz..
I use meridian and QQPlayer
Cheers
i would prefer rock player...(But hey u will not b able 2 play any mkv files curently on dis phone...)
I'll stick to mobo as it supports full dvd rip movies.
Ps : Sometimes the voice is not clear or is widening by default and difficult to understand too thats where it comes handy it plays subtitles too..

I find mobo players ui to be most buggy. I dont like to see thumbnails of videos that I have on my phone. so if I try to go the usual way the ui becomes a real navigational pain. not to mention the fact that the ui itself is slow. the player otherwise is fine.
hey can any body tell me in what format i convert my video files so that it can be played in full screen in mobo player. some songs easily fit in the screen but most of them are in short size. So what is the reason plzzz tell me.
I'm using DoubleTwist because unlike MoboPlayer it supports grabbing your media from specific folders and not the entire file system, and I just want to stick to only one app for Music and Video playing.
Does anyone knows if there's a way to define specific folders with MoboPlayer?
For me moboplayer

the phone scree n resolution is 480x320
so set horizontal resolution of video to 480 and in the software enable the option to keep aspect ratio same as source video
What is the best media player for the nook? I am running CM7, and have been using rockplayer. However, I love dice player for my sensation, but it doesn't seem to work well on my nook? Is there a consensus on this?
I use Vplayer myself. I haven't really gotten around to trying a lot of them due to the fact Vplayer does everything i want it to.

I like MX Video Player myself.
MoboPlayer works nicely for me.
I've been using mobo player without issue, but I'm curious about what everyone else had been using.
was using mobo, switched to mx player (i prefer sur ui, works as great as mobo)
Moboplayer works for me. It even loads up subtitles! (.srt files!)

Mobo player here as well, does well even with software decoding.
+1 for mobo player

vital player (neon). works great for me, software decode obviously. think I've even watched some HD stuff without problem.
I use MoboPlayer because someone recommended it to me. I like that I can easily change volume or brightness while watching a video. I can't really compare it to other video players, though, so I'd love to hear what people like and dislike about their responses.
I just tried mono and it blows vplayer out of the water by far! Plus its free.

Another +1 for Mobo... I used VPlayer (and paid for it) for a long time. But I like Mobo better, and it is free. As others have stated, I can jump around the video with little more than a swype of my finger, same with volume and brightness. Love the app...
VitalPlayer Neon is all I've needed. It plays my xvids without any need for resizing.
Another vote for MX Player. Very snappy and the controls during playback are awesome.
I'm interested in this as well. I see a lot of recommendations for MoboPlayer. Did you have to do anything special to get it to run? I just installed it on CM7 Nightly 177, and it FC's when I try to open it.
I have mobo as well.

I didn't have to do anything special. I am using a nightly from 6/22 (haven't updated in a while ).
I used to use Mobo player, but i now use MX player. Both worked good but mx worked better for me.
I hover between Mobo and Vital Player. Both seem to play all the vids I throw at them, but sometimes one won't play it full size, in which case I use the other player.
I think I saw VLC is available now?

I have found, at least with my media collection, that Diceplayer works better across all types of codec configurations.
I normally use BsPlayer, since it has built in samba client and therefore no need to use ex file explorer to start dice player. If BsPlayer does not cut it, then I switch to Diceplayer.
Mx video player does not currently decode all formats i hardware on the prime, so wait a little while with that.
I am finding the default video player after the ICS update to be quite capable. Haven't had to download any codecs, or anything.

Yes, I also have been impressed by the built in player but it has had problems with playing audio on many of my files.

I don't believe there are any of yet. I currently use Dice Player which has played 99% of my videos on HW. For the other 1%, MX Player seems to have the fastest SW decoder. I know Dice has a Tegra 2 plugin (tried it on my Prime to no avail). I wouldn't be surprised if we see Tegra 3 optimized decoding before long. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to do, but since Tegra 3 is so new, there just haven't been any attempts yet.

I agree. The video playback is much better but do not have sound on many MKV 720p high profile. DICE Player is the best for me so far with BS Player second.

I find that the default ICS player is bugged out. Instead of a menu for play, pause and stuff it just shows colored squares (looks like my screen is melting form the inside out) and is obviously bugged out, it doesn't play half the stuff dice player does.
mx player has been treating me the best since I can select hardware or software for the video and the audio separately, allowing me to play 1080p videos and for those that the audio isn't working I can select software decoding of audio. Also MX player is so far the only player that has been handling multiple audio tracks and multiple subtitle tracks well.
@all
OK, sorry, I stand corrected. Just tried out an .mkv on the built-in player which gave no sound at all! Ugghh...
i no this is a bit random
does any one how i can open the default layer app without going through gallery, because am having problem finding my video files through the numerous files on the gallery, thanks

Just wondering, is there a better alternative to the stock Samsung Video?
The Video app plays just about every video format I throw at it? Is there a better alternative or is the Video app the pinnacle of the S2 multimedia experience?
Any advice or recommendations welcome.

try MX Player
MX Player is best around.
I like MX Player, has lots of codecs, it's quite customizable and it's designed to work with dual-cores.
Superb...thanks to all.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
as previous MX player is damn good and the codec pack works really well. The adblocker will pretty much block all the adds same as the pro
Also an MX fan, but have installed Diceplayer too.
On a custom MIUI ROM I'm testing, MX couldn't hw decode a couple of mkv 720 files I had, but Diceplayer can. Some files are tricky that way - will play flawlessly on one player but not another.. Do all my decoding with MeGUI, but haven't found One Profile To Rule Them All.
The first four things I did on my SGS1 and both my SGS2s were throw the stock phones in the trash, root, uninstall the stock video player and ditto the stock video player
A couple of other good ones that that play most videos are RockPlayer and VPlayer. Give them all a try and see which you like. (never hurts to have 2 or 3 installed in case you get a vid that doesn't play on one).
I like having my movies on my ad card cause when I'm sitting at people's houses and tell them "I've got _______ on bluray on my phone." And play it through the PS3, 360, or whatever. But the stock media player on the phone doesn't play all file formats. Any suggestions on what else I can use? Or and I S.O.L and better just keep being cool with playing it through other media outlets.....

i have tried almost every video player on the market and only one stands out of them.
i have alot of 1080p videos and hardware acceleration is very important to me as software mode is slow and eats up battery life when playback.
i tried mx video player, mobo player, etc... and they fail on some video files i have. they either has no (audio sound, no hw acceleration, etc...)
i have alot of onboard f1 videos directly stream sniped on f1.com and converting it to another format is not an option as they would introduce a/v sync issue
an example file would be this one http://www.mediafire.com/?zkpx798acmcdlb0
the only video player that works for hardware acceleration is Vplayer. though, i also keep a copy of mx video player as Vplayer lacks the seek swipe feature and it is sometimes slow on buffering.

Vplayer for hardware acceleration and screen lock (so my kid can't touch the screen and stop the vid).
MX player has a kidd plugin that makes shapes and noises when you touch the screen also locks it with out the plug in. its good for kids to watch movies and keep themselves entertained watching bunnies and stars appear wherever they touch while watching Toy Story https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.kidslock&hl=en
