How about a little more information like what rom you are using?
I've noticed this too. At first I thought it was mostly because I went from a Froyo 6+ reception bar to the GB 4 reception bar, but it does seem to have a higher -##dBm than I remember in Froyo. The difference isn't a ton and I'm still able to make/take calls so I'm not giving it too much thought.
The good thing I've noticed is, I'm not losing signal as much as I did with the old radio. My signal bars would disappear a TON with the old radio. This radio holds the connection and that's a *huge* winner in my book. Otherwise I would have stayed with Das BAMF 1.7 Senseless.
Signal
This might be a small liking to Apples "Antennagate" scandal. The new radio seems tolerate more fluctuations then the original radio, and in doing so raise the "bar" (sorry had to) on whats needed for a acceptable signal.
I'm running gingeritis Rom ver 1.0 final, of @ 1408 and seeing red theme. I did notice after flashing this theme is really when I noticed it but guys I work around seem to have the same signal strenth which is def lower

Here's a bit of an interesting one. Ever since official Froyo release, I've been getting GREAT reception in my house. Previously, "cell standby" was responsible for much of my battery drain. The odd thing is, I have changed NOTHING. I haven't flashed for weeks. I'm running Adry's EC01 Rom(and radio), with Jt's 4/15 kernel.
Has anyone else noticed a jump in reception? Do you think it's possible Verizon changed something on their end to go along with this update? Quite curious!
I'd also like to add that given the better reception, battery life has been stellar. This confirms great battery life for my aforementioned phone setup, (at least for my exact device).
Is 4g rolling out in your area? Some were speculating that it might take the traffic strain off the existing network.

Hi guys eversince I flashed to a GB rom and using radio 906. My data drops in and out often. Is anyone else having this issue ? Whats the best radio to use for A GB rom . Lets say a Sense 3.5 rom for example.
I use the latest GB radio 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2
Seems to be the same one you use. Not sure why you are getting data drops. Perhaps the network in your area is having problems. Also be sure the battery cover is snapped on completely. This can effect your data connection.
I'm running the latest eternity rom with radio 906w . Nomore data drops but data speed is very low. Ran a few speed test and average around 3 MB on lte.

i'm running same radio & regardless of what rom i use, i get the occasional/ drop as well. it seemed to happen more though when on an aosp rom then on sense 3.5
i have yet to try a sense 3.0 on the new radio(probably won't either).
the last time i recall having a good connection with no drops was when i was on the mr2 radio w/ cyanogen
Hey everyone. I'm a recent Fascinate convert coming from a Droid X and CM7.
I've got CM7 on my Fascinate and am using the Glitchv13 kernel. Absolutely love the performance and battery life, however my modem/baseband seems to be a bit sketchy at times.
I'm wondering what your opinions are on the best modem for the Fascinate at this time. I'm currently using the EH03 modem.
I need reliable phone, text and data connectivity. I don't care so much about speed so much as I just need my data connection to stay up as much as possible. I've had several data dropouts on the EH03 modem already, some fix themselves while other require the airplane mode toggle or a reboot in the extreme cases.
Thanks!
I have not had any such issues with EH03... It has been rock solid.
Each person can have different results with a different modem. But as for me, I have to say EH03 has been more stable than all the others I have tried.
ec09 is the most stable withthe least amount of 1x switching. The problem is no matter what modem you have, on mtd based roms data dropping is a known issue in low signal areas. Luckily for me it was never a issue, other than having to toggle airplane mode occasionally.
Thanks for the replies, everyone.
I ended up rolling back to EC09. It seems to be more stable for me (data being solid for almost a full day now where it was dropping every few hours before).
I'm generally not in low signal areas and just about never use Wi-Fi. We have 3G everywhere so I'm not sure why I was having such awful luck with EH03.
Hopefully it keeps running smoothly. *knock on wood*
ec09 has been the most stable for me. consistent speeds and stability.
eh03 gave me lower ping times but the speed was to slow.
ed05 seems to be all over the place.
I've never switched from EC01 since it dropped (yes, before original official Froyo).
Never got caught in the missed calls stuff or anything.
I had missed calls every day with every radio I flashed until EH03. On my phone, in my service area, EH03 has been the most reliable by far!
Yeah for me its EH03 but its also the slowest of the three, but it's easily the most reliable too so I stick with it

In my expierences, Miui does not have any data drop out issues. It only seems to happen in CM7 and VGB.
I was using xtremelabs ever since I flashed liquid ics jmod and noticed the dl speed drop substantially, I had just assumed it was the radios I was using. Then I got a wild hair and redownloaded speed net and low and behold my dl speed is still high. Which one should I trust or is it maybe just the servers its picking. Only tested on WiFi btw.

Have you tried cell coverage map? Also, speeds will fluctuate a lot depending on the bandwidth being used on the line or the cell tower so its hard to say how accurate any of them are.

I haven't tried that one but I did 7 tests on each in a random order and the results were consistent on each of the two I tried.

Well here's my 4G test lmao why am I even using Wi-Fi lol.

Good speeds. Why do you atk installed? That thing is just a battery drainer. In ics if you long press home and swipe the app it will close it completely.

Just habit I guess. I been using atk for the past 6 yrs so I got used to it. I will try your method after next battery charge though and compare.

I think you'll notice a difference. You'll also notice you get less force closes and odd app issues. Like apps just kind of not working completely right.

Yeah the one I been getting is Facebook stays all white but when I drag down like im going to refresh everything shows until it goes flush with the blue UI bar

Forgot to say that the holding the home key method did fix that thanks.

I guess that depends on why you are using speed tests, if it is for your own personal information stick with whatever you are already using it may not be the most accurate but it is still a reference you can use.
I would like accuracy not, eh I been using this one so I'll stay with it. Hence my asking. If its not an accurate measurement how can you judge your radios performance or your networks. Naw I mean mane lol

I don't remember exactly when it started, but the last month or so my WiFi signal strength had been a lot weaker on my phone. I want to say it started when I started using ASOP roms, but even back in a sense Rom now, I can't hold a signal even one room away. It's not my router because other phones/laptops still get a good signal.
Any ideas on potential fixes to improve signal strength? I'm s-off and on Ineff Deus 1.2 at the moment. Tried different kernels with the same results.
Not much I can say, I get better wifi reception on CM9. Holds out way more than it did on senseless ROMs.
Wipe and reflash?
Already clean flashed a couple roms. Doesn't help. Now I'm just on LTE all the time, so not a huge issue, but of course battery drain is much higher.
Did you recently replace the battery cover or have it off a lot ? The contacts could be funky for the antenna..
