[Q] Fring mic volume - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone successfully using Fring on a Vibrant? I have a rev 2 ffc installed, Bi-Winning V2 and Fring used to work pretty well. I can't say exactly when, but sometime in the last month or so it started having problems with mic volume. I make a test call, and I can hear myself, but just barely. People I call complain about being barely able to hear me. The camera works fine.
I see that some people are saying that Fring is working with CM7. I was wondering if there are any other roms that Fring might be working well with? Or if anyone has any idea how to adjust the mic input? Thanks!

Funny you should ask that I was starting to think I was going crazy. My mic volume was fine before but I flash new roms a lot and don't really check if the mic volume is working properly. But for some reason I am having the same issues... camera works fine but mic volume is really low. I don't remember which rom I had that had the mic sound working properly and can't seem to find one that does.
Strangely enough, using the voice recorder records my voice at the expected volume. I started to think my phone got busted somehow. I tried increasing mic sensitivity on the voodoo sound app but that doesn't work either.
Maybe it's a fring issue. I'll try another video chat app and report back if I find something else.
Currently I am running Bi-Winning v3.

Well, I guess that answers the question as to whether I should update to Bi-Winning v 3.0 to solve the problem.
I beleive this is a Fring thing. I've gone so far as to pull and older version of Fring out of an old Titanium backup and installed that apk. (v 2.4.4.2). The older version seems to work better, although the mic volume is still not great. I think that I would have viewed it as OK in the past, though.
If you'd like to try the older apk, let me know and I'll post it somewhere.

Sound not working except in calls?

Hi guys, I've had my Hero about a year now. The other day, all of a sudden my speaker seemed to stop working. I thought, oh great, it's a hardware bust. I then tried a call and the sound came out fine. That is the only sound working. Everything works with my earphones plugged in. Any advice?
Any ideas guys, I'm pretty desperate here -_-
It could be something wrong with your media volume? I know when you plug in headphones there is a different volume setting? Try a sound volume manager like audio manager .. there is different
Does the problem replicate itself on different roms. etc.. also what rom are you using.
sorry, I know this is basic
Thankyou for the reply man .
Unfortunately I know it is not down to a volume problem because also the ringer volume does not make any sounds.
I am currently on an ancient Floyo ROM as I haven't been able to flash over the last few months. I'm currently waiting for a Froyo Sense with working camera or a reasonably stable GingerBread ROM.
Did you test a handsfree calling? Try making a call and enabling mobile speaker (there should be an option pressing menu button while you are calling).
HTC Hero, as many mobile phones, has two different speakers, one in the back used to play music and loud sounds, and another one on the front to make calls. I think your back speaker is not working and that's why you can't hear anything except voice when you call.

Thankyou, I did not know there were two different speakers, although I suppose it makes sense when you think about it!
Tried what you said and my back speaker is definitely knackered - may have just persuaded myself to get a Z >_>
cheers

[Q] Video Camera Mic Volume, Sound Recorder, Voice Dialer

Flashed the latest CM7 build for Thunderbolt and the new OTA radio.
The relationship between the OTA radio and CM7 probably has nothing to do with this...
Anyways, my problem is with many applications that use the microphone.
For example: Voice Dialer, Sound Recorder, Video Camera Microphone, etc.
The microphone recording volume is really low. Anything I can do to bump this up?
The volume is so low that I have to literally scream into Voice Dialer to make it hear anything.
Weird thing, Google Voice Search works just fine.
I also have the same problem. The problem is also occured Video chat programs, such as Skype and Tango.
Do anyone resolved this issue?
I'm at MR2 radio(latest official one) + CM7 RC 1.2
I have this same issue.. its the only thing "wrong" with CM7 at the moment that I've found atleast.

I have the same problem. I notice that when I use the speaker phone for skype, the mic don't work. When I use the headset, the mic works fine. This is the only problem with CM7, I hope it gets fixed! Thanks.

For Skype, my audio is really low. For the video camera, the audio is way to loud and is frequently clipping

skype videochat on honeycomb

Today I wanted to use skype (the newest version) on my flyer with videochat, I recently upgraded my flyer (BB version) to honeycomb and didnt use skype since then.
Well i know that skype was working completely on Gingerbread, but when i tried videochat today, the camera lighted up (the small green led besides it) and voice and everything worked, however i was not able to get a picture of my camera.
Does anybody have skype working with the flyer and the release version of honeycomb?
Or does anyone know whats causing the problem?
Best regards
Marius

I have the BB Wifi Flyer and Skype works perfectly including both cameras, for me on HC offical release, rooted.
What version HC are you using?
The standard stock release version that globatron posted in his thread. So its the official HTC release with root.
Ill try wiping the skype data and see if it works then. Its really weird, can't use either of the cameras it just gives me a black screen nothing else
Ok I got it fixed, I just wiped the data reinstalled skype and now it works ... weird.
Has anybody managed to get Skype to work with a bluetooth headset and mic?
I can pair and use my BT headset for listening to media files and can make a Skype test call but the audio bounces back to the speakers after the first word..?
Skype has some weirdness with Bluetooth on many devices and since the phone functions for Flyers are not yet working in HC, the Bluetooth profiles may not be fully functional as well.

I've found another problem with Skype on the Flyer.
Audio during a call is only mono.
This is true for both a wired headset and the speakers....
Any ideas?

The Audio from the other called? Isn't it coming through a single mic? How could it be stereo?

What I should have said was that audio only comes thru on one channel. The left side only when using the speakers, earphones or a headset w/Mic.
When I use Skype on my android phone it comes through on both channels, same with the pc too.
The audio routing and libraries are a god awful mess in linux and therefore android. Who knows if its a Skype problem or a htc or a HC problem. At least it works, even this is a miracle in Android audio
I think it must be an HTC problem. I called tech support and they gave the standard answer that it might be resolved in a future update...
i have a lag on my front camera anyone else experience this with the hc upgrade? i tried wiping skype and reinstalling but its not helping...any fix for this??
I am experiencing the same lag on my View (running stock HC). The lag appears on both front and back cameras. I've tested the front cam video with Google Video Chat and it works much better.
Can someone else please let us know how SKype video is working on their View/Flyer, on official HC, GB or other ROM?
Thanks
I use stock GB and all appears to be fine - other than the sound only coming through on one channel (left side).
Are any of you guys getting sound on left and right channels during a call?
Stock HC , rooted, it just works. Just installed and both front and back cameras work fine.

In-call Microphone Vol Issue/running Slim ICS 2.8

I have had this problem with the mic volume, while in-call, i sounded too soft on the other line. Barely audible at times. The microphone records great in other apps, but audio gets distorted when capturing video (for example at a live concert), however it is the least of my concern. I used to run bionix 1.3.1 then ran cyanogenmod 7.1.0.1 and now im running Slim ICS 2.8.
I really want to resolve this issue, I have perused through countless threads and have found no solution. Could this be an issue with the kernel? I honestly have no clue what to do. Help me pls! thanks in advance.
I figured it out! So if anyone else has this issue I hope this may do the trick if its relevant.
Since DSP Manager is installed on my phone I figured the answer may lie in there. And.. it did! It was the tuned audio clock setting, it was 'checked' , even though it says it helps with the sound (which is why I linda ignored it before) but turning it off drastically changed my sound when in call. Now I can be Howard clearer. Hope if anyone has this issue it helps or possibly have a similar setting you can set off that says it "helps with the sound"

[Q] Skype Voice Calling on 4.4+

I use voice chat on Skype a lot, but I also love the speed from 4.4.1 + crpalmer's kernel + bionic libs, however, there's one thing that's keeping me away from that speed, and that's voice chatting being broken on 4.4..Does anyone know a fix for this or know what kind of problem it is? Is it a 4.4 ROM problem or a kernel problem? Whether stock kernel or crpalmers, whenever I initiate a Skype call, it literally kills my ears, it makes this extremely loud screeching and static-y noise that never goes away unless I restart my phone...Anyone know what's up with this?

Have you tried last night's CM 11.0 nightly build? I specifically posted in that thread (which is where you should be looking to see if there is anything new) that I had pushed changes that *might* fix Skype problems and asking for feedback and yet I received 0 feedback.

Sorry for double post, I just wanted to make sure you saw it, but, Skype calling still makes that horrific static noise as before, thanks for trying to help anyway though.

What version did you install? (Specifically)
Are you using your phone as a phone, speaker phone, headset, bluetooth?

I'm using my headphones to test the Skype call audio, and I'm testing 20131211. I'll try speaker phone audio right now.
EDIT: I don't even hear anything when Skype calling through phone speaker, no call tone or anything.

That sounds like the behaviour prior to the changes I pushed. I just double checked an a wired headset is working fine for me.
